Bros you dey vex o! Please calm down and let everything pass.

Nigeria hard but please don’t call our fatherland shithole. I have spent barely two weeks and some days in Canada and I must tell you I’m missing home. Life’s good here and thousands times better than in Nigeria but no place can be like where you grew up.

The culture here is totally different from ours. You would be living in the same Condo and you won’t even greet one another when your path crosses. For example, in the walkway or when you in the elevator, you will either be looking each other like dondee or be pressing phone. Sometimes you greet them and they will be looking at you like mumu, and sometimes they respond with all smile. Even in 3 or more bedroom houses, you see only few that mix well. Most times it’s hi hi when you meet and when you in the house, you lock yourself in the room doing your thing.

The food too. You go chop rice tire. The best thing is to cook here. Not like naija wey you fit just enter one restaurant or buka and load fufu or Eba and spend less than 1k. Go to African restaurant here a the least plate you can get is for $15 (#4,350) and you won’t even be satisfied. And for your info, you pay tax for everything. SIM card wey dem dey sell 100 naira for naija, I bought for $40 (#11,600) here , which was the best deal and I was charged $6 (#1740) extra as tax. Even tax dey ontop bread. I buy wheat bread for $3.29 (#954) which is #250 in naija(more than x3). So the thing here is you have to change your lifestyle if you really wanna have savings. Wheat bread wey I dey finish once in naija, I dey chop am 3 times here grin. Beans of about 3 congos is $22 imagine! One thing, If you keep converting to naira, you won’t buy anything here lol. Got a jean jacket $70 wey I go see confirm akube for 1500 in naija.

Also, I learnt the weather during winter is mad. Even those that were born and bred here are afraid winter is coming! I remember during my orientation a lady at the information fair was asking me if I would like to study abroad. I told her I am already studying abroad because I am an International student. She laughed and said I can still study abroad, perhaps after I spend a winter here, I would like to study abroad...imagine! Lol

Congrats on your approval and I wish you the best in Canada!

Please, how did you route your flight and how much did it cost?

Royal Air Maroc, Lagos-Casablanca-Montreal. They are the only flight that go directly from Africa to Montreal and the most cost effective. At the time of my booking, it was 296k

Nah, status still reads "application review in progress. Will let you know when we start review of eligibility"

Meaning that they have not started eligibility review after 14weeks.

The Lord is my strength!

Because your eligibility review has not started doesn’t mean they have not started reviewing your application. I got a medical call before my eligibility review was updated and it was not updated until few hours after medical passed and passport request came through in less than two hours it was updated. So just keep praying.

APPROVAL ALERT!!!
Online Application
Submitted: May 14, 2018
Biometrics request: May 25, 2018
Upfront Medicals
Refusal Letter: July 24, 2018 on purpose of visit

Applied for GCMS note on July 25, but later decided on reapplying while waiting for the gcms note, since my resumption date was fast approaching and the gcms note would take 1 month.
Searched the web for common reasons for purpose of visit refusal and wrote a letter of explanation addressing those common reason that may apply to me. Included in my reapplication the SOP I wrote for the MBA application, changed school to my preferred school which i had now gotten the admission letter, documents of landed properties and letter of merit award from the school.

Reapplied Paper Route (observed the most reapplication using paper route received response within a month)

He knows what he is saying that he want to leave the shithole ,some people graduated with first class and master with distinction in engineering and science field field nobody cares about them. How do you expect him not to say that when the person was given full funding including living expenses without even seeing his face when he was applying.

It is a normal thing for the Caucasians, they do things privately and alone.it is better than keeping fake friends that has no value to someone life.

We need to start asking how we nigerians and africans find ourselves in this situation.

The rich children all have dual citizenship, do you think they don't know what they are doing.let us leave the story for another time.

Bodmillz, I know you are seeing the difference living in a progressive country unlike naija.

Congratulations Bro. Happy that you made it out successfully with your application. Its not easy at all. Just to chip in some advice to you. bear in mind that when you get here in Canada, there are struggles too no matter what the system gives out but definitely you will be glad that you left Nigeria for Canada. But sometimes you will have the feelings to wanna go home and make changes, visit your people but the fact is that "No one in Nigeria will encourage you to come at all" grin to the extent that if you insist of coming they all think you are cursed grin. All the same be ready for challenges in class, Laboratory, environment and the weather and above all I wish you all the best.
