So why didnt he drop any of these two to make a like for like repp with Kalu for Simon? After all, those two went to Russia for sight-seeing, abi dem do anything meaningful? Our game against Argentina and Croatia needed a Simon or Kalu to stretch their full backs, but no we couldn't do that because the blind bat left the personnel for that at home.

Rohr should be sacked biko
We all said the same thing here but Rohr did what he wanted anyways.
He relied on our fullbacks and barely played the best one attacking wise (why bring Simy if we don't have good crossers?)

idowu is the worst. our lack of decent center backs is the reason i keep on clamoring for one for any of the german boys to play for us but pride and ego are making many here believe that we don't need them.

among the trio(torunarigha, uduokhai and akpouguma) its only torunarigha for now that is highly rated by the germans where he is a mainstay in their u21 team and to be sincere i don't see him turning out for us in the nearest future but the remaining duo of akpoguma and udokhai we still stand a chance most especially the former who is already 23-24 and have a tough battle in to face in breaking into the german senior team.

also i learnt there is an emerging spanish born nigerian in the colours of deportivo la coruna who is 18 and highly rated in the club. rohr should check him out as well
darkelf:

Me too bro.

But mhen, that dude has been on loan for too long. Isn't that a testament to the fact that he is not making progress?

For now, Ekong is miles ahead and if we had a different coach, he may not make the SE team. Same goes for Idowu (aka one hit wonder)

Former Super Eagles invitee Josh Maja continued his blistering form with a goal for Sunderland in their 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town in an EFL League One match at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors opening the scoring through a Patrick Madden header in the ninth minute but the Black Cats drew level thanks to Maja's goal seven minutes before half-time.

The Nigerian striker's effort crept into the far post after meeting a cross from George Honeyman for his fifth league goal of the season.

Maja had found the net in the first four games in the league against Charlton Athletic, Luton Town, Scunthorpe United and Gillingham.

The 19-year-old was replaced by Charlie Wyke in the 63rd minute in his eight successive game in all competitions this season.

The former Manchester City youth-teamer was called up to the Super Eagles squad during their get-together in London in March 2017 but club duties prevented him from training with the team.

Sunderland, who travel to Burton Albion next weekend, are fourth on the table with 15 points.

WAFU 17 qualifiers:

Gha1:1 Togo . HT.

This is the result both teams need to make it to the next round.

I said it pages back that these two team can possibly strike an accord and play 1:1. Na just to do kick about for second half remain.

Gha 2:1 Togo. FT.

Ghana and Niger go through.

A potential Nigeria vs Ghana semi-final clash.

Yes I could also notice his influence like the way they pressed which was something they didn't do in Uyo but I guess these are early days and the hope would be that the players get to know the coach better as time goes on.
Btw I am just imagining how bad Lesotho would feel hearing that a draw against them was so bad that a coach had to be fired grin

I noticed that high pressing too. If Amuneke can transform this Tanzanian team that could pave way for more Nigerian coaches to handle some of these small footballing nations. Well like as you said it is still early days.

As for Lesotho, any team that draws dem at home of course is very useless. They are just maybe only a step above a team like Seychelles.

Oh yes. Omeruo is like Smalling, good talent but lacks confidence. For someone who attracted the likes of Chelsea during his youth, should be a key player but here we are. Ekong has surpassed him, not with talent but with confidence.

Super Eagles stars took to social media in the wake of their 3-0 win over Seychelles in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday afternoon.

Having lost 2-0 to South Africa in June 2017, Nigeria got their qualifying campaign back on track thanks to first half goals from Ahmed Musa and Chidozie Awaziem and a second half penalty converted by Odion Ighalo.

Super Eagles players have been expressing their emotions after the impressive victory on a synthetic pitch :

Captain Ahmed Musa posted on Instagram : ''Great team victory! 3 points to help us qualify for the African Cup of Nations. Happy to get a goal .Up Eagles ''.

Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo tweeted : ''Una too much unto the next one.. ❤️ #Seychelles 0-3 #Nigeria''.

The impressive central defender Leon Balogun stated : ''Job done ✅ on to the next one. #SEYNGA #AFCON2019 #SoarSuperEagles''.

Non-playing substitute John Ogu said : ''Great team performance from the boys on a strong and tough synthetic pitch .. Naija all the way ''.

Nigeria's next Africa Cup of Nations qualifier is against the first ranked team in Group E, Libya, in October 2018.

Some of those guys are playing on such a pitch for the very first time. The ball is always moving out of direction you need twice has many effort on a natural grass to keep possession of the ball. Abeggyyy cut those guys some scrap! They tried and if you are not satisfy go put on the jersey and enter pitch.

Then why crucify Ighalo? undecided

Of course, you are right but I will not spare Balogun, Omeruo and Awaziem too because they were all suspects.

I can understand why it's so. Maybe due to no game time.

I wouldn't read much meaning into this result, Seychelles played like the amateurs they are.

Iheanacho had a bit of an improved game but i think he would have been better suited as a ss, IMO he isn't creative enough to carry the creative burden of the team. A SS role would have allowed him as much closeness to the goal post, increasing his odds of scoring and improving ighalo's game. We had little or no need for two DMs, either of Ndidi or onazi would have sufficed with the 2nd midfielder(etebo in the absence of iwobi) playing the central attacking midfield role, and kalu and musa as right and left side midfielders respectively. That is of course if we must play both iheanacho and ighalo at the same time.

Having started with the traditional 433 however, Rohr watching from the side line should have noticed how the seychellois set up. They weren't the most coordinated at the back but they were crowded in the middle, making it difficult to slide sleek passes through and create good chances. Little wonder, for all of our possessional play, we didn't really test the goalkeeper. The few times we did, they either conceded or where saved by the bell. This problem would have been solved by wing play, which brings me to our wingers.

Samuel kalu had an impressive debut, he kept the width nicely and always opened up as a passing option, and when he held the ball, he unsettled the shaky seychellois defence, his willingness to also combine with awaziem was good, a certain Victor Moses would not have trusted awaziem that much.

Musa also tried but unlike kalu, he was more of an inside forward, always looking to come in and find space at goal which made traditional wing play on the left almost non-existent. Idowu also didn't help matters.

What Rohr should have done was to bring onyekuru for ighalo and give musa the striking role. Now I know onyekuru also likes to cut in so he should be given strict instruction that his primary role was to keep width and disorganize the Seychelles defence.

Using the entire width of the pitch by fast and good dribbling wingers would have worked magic in that it would have drawn the inexperienced seychellois defence to the wings, creating tons of space for the CAM and Striker to work with. And with a more clinical and mobile musa, we would have gotten a lot of goals.

Still a fair result but there is a lot of room for improvement.

PS: we have our wing position sorted. With Moses Simon, onyekuru, kalu and musa, Iwobi has no business on our wings again, he should be left to carry the creative burden of our team as our designated 10.

Exactly, he has quality but he was not consistent. I was disappointed with his final ball because it was supposed to be his calling card.

He is a good player but he has to improve if he must compete with Isaac and Bazee.

Why not allow him to be fit then we see what he is made of

We have others fit players who are not doing badly

Idowu shoud not be in the team, countless time balogun saved his ass and also Omerou's, That Left back is just too porous, I dont kny why simi nwankwo was not played, he wld av been better in todays game.

Awaziem was not good as RB, ajayi looks more fitted for that position.

To see how useless rohr is, he doesnt know our players honestly, he should know that kalu is best set piece taker talking of free kicks and corners, he was doing to for his old club gent and now continues in bordeaux, I was mad when I saw etebo and musa taking the freekicks and corners, rohr does not know our players, that man is just playing safe and extending the inevitable so he can gather as much money as he can.

In a sane society, player like Semi Ajayi no go smell national team ahead of Uche Agbo. How it happened, na em I no know.

In Gent, Kalu takes set pieces if Simon is not playing but Simon played more games than Kalu.
