Afam4eva:
Let me not lie. The Owerri that i went to on 3 different occasions just 2 months ago was not impressive at all. I prefer the Owerri that i went to severally in 2015/2016. Now, it just seems like almost every road is bad and even the ones that used to be okay have been destroyed all in the name of reconstructing them. A case in point is Wetheral Road.

The only important thing to note is that the Owerri you will meet next time you visit will be much more impressive. Not because of the efforts of the government but the will of the people to live in a developed region. I praise Igbos and their determination to leave a legacy for the younger generation, a legacy of self created decency borne out of education and exposure to better ways of doing things.

The government is not as important as we think, the collective will of the people is the paramount issue here.

I'm definitely not discounting the work that the people are putting in. I can see beautiful buildings and hotel dotting the landscape of Owerri but the government needs to do their own part which is by creating the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. I took a whole day to check out some hotels in Owerri and i realized that there were really some beautiful hotels in inner streets but no good access road to get to them The government needs to do better.

You sound like a philosopher who has the gift of critical thinking. Let me thank you for the efforts you made in showing some areas of the great Aba and Umuahia cities in a manner that has not been shown on Nairaland before. Your little but important efforts has change the wrong impression of many people towards Aba and thwarted and put to shame the m0rons we have on this thread.

All the dilapidated roads in Owerri due to rain fall would be fixed when the rains stop before this year December 2018.

Chino since you took up Afam4eva moniker you've been trying to deceive only the gullible but I smell you even from a thousand miles. Wetheral was truly demolished and is undergoing reconstruction to a wider and more midern road for the good of all. The suffering being experienced presently is normal once you tamper with free flow of traffic at the very center of a city. In a few months the frowns will turn to smile while our price for the brief suffering is wider road.

There is hardly any difference between these your pics of Owerri and the pics of Banana Island. This owerri is just wonderful. With what I'm seeing here, I won't be surprised if I get to discover that some of those houses in banana island are owned by Igbos and they have just decided to duplicate banana island in Owerri. Pls upload pics of the new Alaba market being constructed in IMO. Owerri is truly our resort city.

A new bypass created in Owerri.........

This Rochas sef! Just look at how ugly that new road and its surroundings looks! sad

This man is littering the whole of Owerri with ugly, substandard roads and structures! The problem is that he's spreading the little resources the state has too thinly! Compare the rubbish roads he constructs with the ones done in Port Harcourt and Uyo, then you'd know just how much this man is disgracing us and pulling us backwards!

The problem with doing a cheap whack job in road construction is that after one or two years you have to come back again to spend even more money fixing up the damaged portions! This is penny wise, pound foolish! It would have been better to spend decent money to build a durable road that can last for years...using competent contractors that would first study the topography of the area to know where to build a road, where to build a culvert and where to build a bridge! It's not rocket science for crying out loud!

Well this looks promising!

It's like there's a spirit that takes hold of the governor sometimes and he wakes up to do decent stuff that's aesthetically pleasing! And then there's other times the spirit leaves him and he reverts back to default settings....building ugly, substandard rubbish!

IFEANYI UBAH UNIVERSITY (IUU) IN PERSPECTIVE*
This is the executive summary of the proposed university
written by
Obunadike O Obunadike esq.
1. The proposed university will be located at Nnewi,
Nigeria, on an area of land that is suitable & adequate for
a university of international standing. This is essentially
to allow for the accommodation of all vital facilities
required for a hitch-free take-off of academic, housing &
ancillary services.
2. The structure of the University campus is set to
present an environment with unique placement of
functions & activities, with enhanced way of finding &
integration of events.
3. At the entrance of the University, a major dual carriage
road will take off at the gate, forming an axis that runs
through & terminates at the Senate building
(administrative complex). This complex & the area
around it will form the focal point of the entire campus
plan.
4. The sports & recreational zone is utilized here as a
buffer zone to shield any possible noise that will affect
administrative complex & academic district.
5. Behind all these structures is a greenbelt that will
further aid in shielding the entire campus from intrusive
neighbourhood clatter. The students' hostels in this
scheme are placed between the administrative complex &
the staff residential quarters, while at the same time
adjoining the academic complex for easier flow of
students to classes.
6. The staff residential quarters are also consciously
located to afford the University staff the desired quiet
zone while also providing the avenue to superintend the
hostels.
7. Within the East-end of the campus lies the business
district providing the entire campus a Central Area for
shopping, banking & other activities away from
academics.
More details would be coming in due course.
Support a man with a heart of gold!
Support the emancipation of IGBO economy!
Support a man who is wielding much hardwork in
modelling human capital developments in Nigeria!
Support Ifeanyi Ubah for Senate!
Support APGA!

Abagworo, your penchant for always defending and covering Rochas like we are fools, is irritating.

I was in my village recently and I dare to ask what has happened to Rochas schools which have been left dilapidated and abandoned for weed smoker and criminals?

Same as his hospitals, which are either empty, non functional or uncompleted.

The one in Amawozuzu in Iho, ikeduru LGA is a ghost of itself ..

This pix is one of his schools in Ngugo my maternal home in ikeduru LGA as well. I snapped this in the evening and couldn't get closed cos I was late to go home.

Waltersmith Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited thursday disclosed that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Peiyang Chemical Equiment Company Limited of Tianjin, China to build a new Refinery at its it Imo State facility.

This deal is expected to increase Waltersmith’s daily refining capacity to 30,000 barrels of oil per day.

The company which had commenced construction of its 5,000 barrel per day (bpd) modular refinery said the new agreement with the Chinese firm would build a new refinery and support its goal of producing petrol, aviation fuel and other by-products at the facility.

Commenting on the partnership, the Chairman/Chief Executive officer Waltersmith Refining and Petrochemical Company, Mr. Abdulrazaq Isa said: “The MoU is about expanding the capacity of our modular refinery which is currently under construction by 25,000 bpd to produce other products beyond what the modular refinery is capable of doing meaning we can now produce premium motor spirit (PMS) and aviation fuel.

“This MoU is basically to undertake the project development work which would entail a feasibility study of the proposed expansion of to 25,000bpd. Then we would proceed to do the detailed engineering design for the expanded facility and some other associated studies.

“We would work jointly with the Chinese to obtain the regulatory approval for the proposed capacity. Once that is done, we can now close the financing and then go into construction.”

Furthermore, he added: “We believe that by the time we conclude the development, we would now become a full-blown refinery.”

Also, on what the Chinese firm is bringing to the table, Isa said: “They have the technology and will be involved in project debt financing, turnkey construction and operation of the plant. But it is ultimately going to be 100perecnt owned by Waltersmith and it co-venturers.

“The new facility is going to be 25,000bpd, taking our total capacity to 30,000bpd.”

Asaba is growing rapidly. My brother and I bought 2 plots of land there last year December close to the airport. We plan to build flats there. Spyder880 I will let you know once we are ready to develop the plot.

Also Asaba plots are generally bigger in measurements. They measure 100 by 100 while other plots measure 100 by 50.
