A female soldier has earned the praises of Nigerians following viral picture of her praying at the battlefield. According to an online report, the gallant soldier who is currently fighting against the Boko Haram sect in the northern part of the country, was captured praying in a bush - with her rifle by her side. 

This rare photo of a female soldier praying has got Nigerians talking and wishing protection of the troops at the front line. 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, says in spite of pocket of attacks by remnant of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno North, the army is tightening the noose against them.

Buratai, therefore, urged Nigerians and people of the region in particularly not to panic as those attacks do not signal resurgence of insurgency as being insinuated in some quarters.

He spoke in an interaction session with journalists at Mongunu after he personally monitored and coordinated onslaught against the insurgents locked in between troops’ locations in the area.

if u ask some of these ppl wey dey go do pilgrimage for isreal they will tell a number of the IDF(isreali defence force) wey dey mann post na ladies.u will see a girl as young as 18-19 in military wears and boots and holding a gun. Its the men who enter into the field of battle. Even when media they show a number of palestinian youths aggitating and throwing stones at the isreali IDF..u don see any female soldier shooting at dem? Na always male soldiers u go see. In the USA as well it wasnt until the second gulf war in 2003 that they started allowing female soldiers go for combat missions cos women in america protested that they should be given more roles in the military.

Is that a general rule or why do you say Nigerian female soldiers don't participate in wars?
Even in the US? Do you have any link or statistics to prove your point? About 10% of the US Army is made up of women ，what do they do?

You also feel disturbed seeing this picture, why?

Oga please check your facts again. Females do not participate in physical battle. If fact it's a law in US army not to allow females fight in battles. They mostly engage in secretariat works and first aid.

Sir please don't be ignorant. US changed their laws to deploy women to frontline in 2016 . Women were even deployed to Afghanistan.

Yes United States deploy women to war but as non combatants. I have been following US war in Iraq and Afghanistan very closely and all the women soldiers deployed to those countries, are there as health personnel, logistics or office work.
