No problem. Your taste in movies will change soon.

But seriously, the low-life and high tech combo we gleaned from that film made a solid case for the world building aspect. It illustrated a detailed cyberpunk presence, and it's no secret that cyperpunk is a subgenre of sci-fi.

Accept my apologies, I was thinking "steampunk" when you said cyberpunk.

Yes, it does have a cyberpunk presence.

A while ago, you said that you didn't normally watch scifi or horror movie and then you reviewed one. I'm paraphrasing.

I normally don't watch horror movies, true. What's wrong in occasionally going out of your comfort zone?

SPOILER ALERT

Mission Impossible: Fallout 7/10

Good Plot. Great action sequences, though we've seen better from other entries.
My happiness at seeing Rebecca Ferguson in the trailer was totally crushed by what her character was turned to in the movie. Thank you, Paramount for ruining one of the best female characters in the MI universe. At least, we got Vanessa Kirby's White Widow, well until they decide to ruin that one too.

Hotel Artemis 6/10

Couldn't really piece the plot together. But the characters were really engaging. JeromeBlack is kinda right, though. A little more background info might have explained Nice's decision. It felt off for someone who'd up till then been portrayed as a profit-oriented, pragmatic assassin.

It is when you focus on the technicalities of some stories that you will find it unsatisfactory. I chose to listen to the story and it's message, not how it was told that informed my high ratings. I think you should do the same thing

Hotel Artemis...3/10
Genre: Action -thriller.

First of, those people who hyped this movie on this forum, fallout.

This movie had the potential to be great, just envisage a John Wick inspired story & add a really great cast to it, you ought to get a jaw-dropping Action movie. First of,the acting & conversations were cliche & funny enough the plot isn't really much about anything at all & the whole movie was predictable on a Bleep.ed up large scale.

Koicereloaded once said the movie was short, my brother, if it were any longer than it were, I would have slept of because I could literally count the action scenes in the movie and to be Frank, it ain't up to 5 action scenes. A good action scene must come with a set of stakes that the protagonist needs to overcome so that his journey means something, this was what the movie's action scenes lacked to a large extent. Also, the coolest action scenes only came at the end of the movie, and it really made me wonder why they didn't replicate that kinda stuff to the whole movie.

And the lovely lady ( madam ishilove) who if am not mistaken was of the defensive opinion that the action scenes in the movie were ok and enough, considering the fact that the movie was shot in a building, all I have to say is, dear pls try and see The Raid: redemption or Judge Dred (2012) version & you'll agree with me that, that's not an excuse.

All I can gather is that you were looking for action scenes and you didn't get as much as you would have liked. How about, next time, you try to understand what a movie really is about, before projecting your own expectations on it.
Yes, Hotel Artemis does give off The Continental vibes but that quickly goes away and is not enough for you to be expecting Keanu Reeves to pop out of a broom closet and start taking headshots

Hmmmmm....

So I finally watched the movie hortel Artemis from beginning to end and to be honest without any emotional attachment, I was disappointed in a lot of ways.

The storyline wasn't so good, so many loopholes, i find the wolf king son just annoying due to poor acting, the action or fight scenes were disappointing (except for nice, she tried small) .
There were so many scenes that I believe wasn't necessary and so much that if I continue, it will be a spoiler.

The positive part I liked in the movie was the quality acting from Charlie day who I know acts only as a comedian or good guy. His acting as a bad guy (Acapulco) was top notch, same for nice, the lady nurse and bautista. They acted well.

I felt the Waikiki guy was acting as if he was still acting the black panther movie. Wasn't too impressed.

I am really looking forward to the sequel as I believe that this movie had a lot of potential that wasn't capitalized on.

Overall i will rate the movie 4.5/10

Take note, this is my personal opinion.

What do I say now? I was kind of disappointed cos I expected a crime movie going by the title. Then again it wasn't so bad just annoying. If you love action then forget it.

Maybe if you have bothered to read my earlier analysis, you wouldn't have been so eager to misquote me. Seems to me you disregarded every other themes prevalent in the plot lines, because of your obsession with "action". Well, sorry to break it to you, but it's more of a noir-thriller, than it is a sci-fi dystopian action. I addressed this in my analysis and here is an excerpt;
They would have marketed it more as a noir thriller tho, instead of the sci-fi dystopian action thriller they went with. Would have alleviated some consumers high expectations.

I also briefly gave my opinion on the film's length;
Too short: It could have really benefited from being at least another 45 mins longer to go more into each character's backstory as how they ended up at the Hotel.

Then, I gave an opinion on why the plot worked better as a noir-thriller than an action-thriller.
Limited action: Unpopular opinion but I liked it that way. I felt that too much action would have ruined the intricate world building going on subtly behind the scene.

From your post, it's apparent you never gave the movie the time of day, like you were in a hurry to come online and slam it, and by extension, others that had something good to say about it. You went in expecting mind blowing action sequence, and too tunneled vision in your expectations to open your mind to other themes at play. Maybe if you had obsessed less about action, and focus on other things like the world building, dialogue, and the cast, you might have been less short-sighted in your views.

@ishilove I watched Annabelle creation at midnight just to be sure why the movie made you make up your mind not to ever watch horror movies again. Was it because of the demon guy that kept showing once in a while?

Go and watch the making of most of these horror movies, you will actually laugh at the things you saw and scared you.
