MrMann1:

In my case, I got an offer on campus, but I couldn't start the job until the beginning of the next semester, so I got a job outside as a math tutor in an elementary school, my i20 classified the job as CPT despite the fact that semester was still ON. Maybe things have changed within 2017 and now.
Hmm..maybe your program requires you to actually do a CPT before you attain 1 full year. That is the only explanation, I still believe you cant do a CPT before being a student for one full year. Also doing a CPT for more than one year makes you in eligible for OPT. https://www.internationalstudent.com/study_usa/way-of-life/working-in-the-usa/

Once you get your i-20, arrange for SEVIS fee payment. This cost $200, then pay visa fee of N57k plus. Get your own statement of account; get your sponsor statement of account, then as you do these, prepare for your interview. Get to know beforehand what and what question you'll be asked and prepare very personal answers to these questions. Pray for God's favour, and when you get your visa, boom. Goodluck. If you need more information, ask here or write to me. I would like to see your transcript.

Hello guy, I have been admitted for spring 2019 graduate degree in communication at Liberty university and West Texas A&M out of 4 schools I applied to. I will choose west Texas though... My i20 is always on the way with DHL... I wud just like to request for assistance with the visa application process... How do I start, what and when do I pay for... Whc location is favorable. Any visa related opinion is much sorted after.

Ask your questions and let those with informed mind help you out. What exactly do you want to know? Admission is simple, if you know the rule. Getting visa for such program is not an exception; in fact, you have a chance because we all know we lack the techniques to train pilots (I assume this is the end goal) in Nigeria.

WES is your best option. Create an account on the website, and have you naija school send the transcript, keep track of the transcript, and once delivered, it will update on your WES account. Payment mode is best with visa card.

If you want to write it, go ahead. But note that writing the test does not guarantee visa. You have got to prepare yourself for the interview, too. Goodluck to you!

Lol! How do you know one week is good enough? Na you won write the exam? Don't you know some students have never opened their English test books for years? Let him prepare until he feels confident enough. The amount of preparation require can never be the same for every student. But I understand you!

How much will it cost me to write TOEFL and d procedure kindly help a brother pls

Per the ETS website, the current cost of the TOEFL internet based test in Nigeria is $195 (https://www.ets.org/bin/getprogram.cgi?urlSource=toefl&newRegURL=&test=TOEFL&greClosed=new&greClosedCountry=China&browserType=&toeflType=&redirect=&t_country1=group_Nigeria). However, some folks on Nairaland (Ponpon and B.Y. Mafit) seem to be able to register for a lesser amount; and they have been continuously shown to be genuine. You may want to contact them. For the procedure, if you're registering directly through ETS, you'll have to create an account and do the registration online. If you go through Ponpon or B.Y. Mafit, I believe they do the registration for you. You can also inquire about study materials from them. Hope this helps.

Everyone has different capacity for studying and assimilating materials. One week may be enough time to prepare for the exam for one person but may be insufficient time for another person. It's all about knowing what works best for you and going with it.

Boss.
Considering the brevity of time per his situation, I feel he can prepare within one week and take exam. When you add the 10days wait for result and time to register, next month will arrive.
PS: I wrote TOEFL some weeks back and I can say its no big deal

Moreso I was admitted to University of New Haven and I would like to apply for their funding but there is no where to apply for it, so I want to ask if it is automatically been considered with ones program application.

I was in correspondence with Prof. Keith (The Program Cordinator for Msc. in Data Science). He specifically told me that the school offer funding to international students. Now on how to apply for this funding, he linked me to Mrs. Kuzmich... Long story cut short please check this link https://www.newhaven.edu/admissions/graduate/graduate-assistantships-scholarships/ and ensure you follow up your program cordinator and Graduate School Cordinator. Responsibly disturb them with email Cautiously.

I wish you all the best.

What's your study plan: This program consists of 15 credit hour for the 1st semester, and 14 credit hours for the second semester, and some of the courses I will be offering includes: Eng1101 (English Composition1), Math1111 (College Algebra), EcO2105 (Principal of micro economics), and BUSA 2106 (Legal environment of business).etc.

And for the second semester: MATH1070 (Elementary Statistics), ENG1102 (English Composition 2), ECO2106 (Principal of micro economics).

Is this response cool?

Me: Good Morning
VO: Good Morning, Pass me your passport and i-20
ME: I did sharply
VO: why going to the US
Me: I am going to Cleveland Land State University for my BSC in Information Sysystem
VO: Why US?
Me: It's a known fact that a degree in the United State is well respected and highly ranked, therefore, I see a foundational degree in the US to be a very good decision.
VO: how did you get to know about the school?
ME: My Dad's friend who is an alumni of the school recommended it to me, and as a result of this. I went online to read more on the school curriculum, Standard, program offered and it's notable alumnus.
VO: How many Schools did you apply to?
ME: 4
VO: Name them
ME: Cleveland State University, Georgia State University, Washington and Lee University, Appalachian State University.
VO: How many admitted you?
ME: Cleveland State University, and Georgia State University.
VO: Why Cleveland State University for a business seeking degree and not top schools.
Me: Cleveland state University at the Monte Ahuja Campus is well equipped with appliances that would help me not to only gain theorical knowledge, but practical knowledge as well, thereby developing me Managarially, Financially, and Technically, which will prepare me with the best way to utilize the modern technology.
Secondly, the school is enriched with qualified professors who are always ready to render necessary assistance to students. In addition, the school is located downtown of Ohio city, which will give me the opportunity to learn in a very conducive environment.
VO: so, why Information Systems
ME: Considering the continuous shortage of individuals with the combination of business and technology skills needed to develop and manage the economic systems that provide competitive advantage in the global marketplace, and varieties of career opportunities information system offers, coupled with the knowledge which I already had during my apprenticeship, I am sure this program will enrich me with the necessary skills needed to excel, and provide solution to the economic situation of Nigeria, and and enhance my father's land Technologically.
VO: What will this degree do for you?
ME: This degree will develop me Managerially and Technically, which will make me more valuable in the labor market, when I return to Nigeria to work with some Telecommunication companies like MTN, GLO, Etisalat, and any other Technological business enterprise.
VO: Any Standardized Test?
ME: SAT and TOEFL
VO: When did you finish High School?
ME: 2015
VO: What have you been doing since then?
ME: After my high school, I went for an apprenticeship in Computer and hardware engineering, which was for 12 months, with six months serving period making 18 months. After this, I proceeded as an apprentice to gain knowledge on MS word, Software installation, Ethernet Connectivity and GSM architecture for total of 12 Months.
VO: Who's sponsoring you?
ME: My Uncle
VO: What does he do?
ME: He is a Professor in Telecommunication Science Department at Bleep University, and also own a Telecommunication Company.
VO: Why is he spending that huge amount on you?
Me: He's my guildian, who is always interested in my success, and am seen as an investment who will use my attained knowledge to promote his company enthusiastically.
VO: Can I have his bank Statement.
Me: Of course you can, here it is.
Vo: Glance through it and returned, said my visa is approved, and gave me a White paper

Guys please help me look into this transcript, don't be scared to abuse or correct anything.

Based on your interview, your response to why US seems generic and that line seems used too frequently. You might want to address it from the exposure it affords you and also, how most Nigerian corporations would appreciate such a degree.

Not so great an answer, as the VO probably knows that not everywhere in the US is this same, so a more city specific answer is preferred. So something along the lines of US being the center of innovation, and your school known for its prowess in robotics (like CMU Pittsburgh), would suffice, nothing too long and cheesy, so as not to put the VO Off grin

Toooooo Long !!! Tooooooo Long!!!../even american high school leavers would never be this articulate, keep it short and simple, data analytics have blown up in recent times, block Chain, AI, and data science are the forefront of IT, and your degree would expedite your training in this blissful field.. Ermmmmm... Not so great either, this degree would do what degrees do, and that is give you immense knowledge, and hone your ability to learn , innovate and be articulate, so keep your answer short and simple, and leave out companies, because when these companies die, you'd still want a job someplace grin grin.. So instead talk about the new skills you'd get, and the disruptive tech (Data science etc) that this degree would bestow upon you grin

Toooooo Long !!! Tooooooo Long!!!../even american high school leavers would never be this articulate, keep it short and simple, data analytics have blown up in recent times, block Chain, AI, and data science are the forefront of IT, and your degree would expedite your training in this blissful field.. Shikena!! grin grin

Thanks a lot ma, I will shorten it, and make use of all suggestion made by you, and other contributors.

VO: What will this degree do for you?
ME: This degree will develop me Managerially and Technically, which will make me more valuable in the labor market, when I return to Nigeria to work with some Telecommunication companies like MTN, GLO, Etisalat, and any other Technological business enterprise.

Hmm, never would have thought of this, Thanks a lot Ma

VO: What have you been doing since then?
ME: After my high school, I went for an apprenticeship in Computer and hardware engineering, which was for 12 months, with six months serving period making 18 months. After this, I proceeded as an apprentice to gain knowledge on MS word, Software installation, Ethernet Connectivity and GSM architecture for total of 12 Months.

Too much information, a simple "... I underwent vocational training at a technical institute for Computer engineering, and Networking, and have obtained a practicing technical license, which I work with, is more than enough" grin grin
lol, I guess I like to talk too much, but Thank God for letting you caution me, I will stick to your corrections ma.

VO: Why is he spending that huge amount on you?
Me: He's my guildian, who is always interested in my success, and am seen as an investment who will use my attained knowledge to promote his company enthusiastically.

No No No No.. This VO's already understand our communal lifestyle, so all this cheesy story may be a turn off.. Here it takes a village to raise a child, the village has raised tour uncle, and now its time for your uncle to give back, more so, if his kids are grown and he has no core responsibilities cheesy
Thanks Ma, My Uncle and my Dad shares a landed inheritance (Poultry Farm) from my Grand mother, who gave birth for two men, and presently; my uncle is the one occupying the land, since my Dad doesn't have interest in farming, and now the man sees sponsoring me as an opportunity to pay my Dad back. Do you think I should tell this long story, and family history to the VO, as I talk too much? sad
