My beloved OP....I have carefully read your story.I quite understand that it is very good to get a 1st class or 2.2 result but pls don't let your soul be crushed by what you are going thru.Listen could it be that you a are narrowing your potentials only as an employable person?. I was in your position in the late 90s after graduation...until I read a book ''Tough times don't last but tough people do" by the Late Robert Schuller. My brain was like completed rewired.I realised that I had more potentials in me than an Employable person.I got my self retrained and then moved on... Friend,You are going thru a litmus test and you must not chicken out..Pray hard ..Re.. evaluated yourself ..Check and Recheck your CV... Bishop Oyedepo once said something that fired me up. When he said around 2002'' Don't let your certificate dissapoint you because there is something that God has deposited inside of you that the Whole World is looking for! You are not a Waste..Don't compare yourself with other people..Don't leave that Job but keep attending Seminars, business conferences and free workshops that could enhance your focus... You are a Champion.. Don't lose hope...You will be great... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Well am forced to comment on this topic. a whole lot of Nigerian graduates are here in south Africa doing barber jobs and security just so we can survive... some guys have even become pro pedicurist n manicurist here.. something known to be done by women in Nigeria... most had to go learn when they got here n are now doing better.. my mistake was.... that I had the chance to learn from my best friend back in Nigeria in 2015.. but I turned it down... cos I said it's a woman thing.. when I got to south Africa last year... I realized how stupid I was not to have learnt nail fixing from Gabriel.... otherwise I would have started working immediately I came to SA n the women even prefer patronizing d males... My point is.... education n those degree won't give us all that career choice... its better to learn a vocation or a craft... please advice ur younger ones still in school forming Einstein.... tell em to learn a vocation whilst they can... there is no future in Nigeria... we she stop hoping n dreaming 4 Likes 1 Share |

wrong mentality. I graduated with a 2.2 in 2010. i did nysc 2011. i took a non paying job 2012as a network engineer as I wanted to get industry experience. I left after 6months. i had interview invites with different companies even with kpmg but did not succeed. I went back to the drawing board. I picked up programming. late 2014, i got my first paying job as a customer service rep. it was 90k. i got fired 6 weeks later and thankfully i got paid fully plus extra. i went into installing inverters for people. a skill i picked up from my neighbour within a month. I got a 40k job later in 2014 to teach chess in schools.i left after 3months for another 40k job in IT. by then i was becoming very good in programming. I landed a 70k job 2015 as a software engineer. from 2015 till date, i have worked for over 4 companies.I earn good money right now. A lot of mutinationals have contacted me and are still contacting me to join them. I have done interviews for companies in Germany, and Netherlands. Even though I am still waiting to land my first international job, I am already doing well. You dont have to be fraustrated. Its not about your certificate. Its about you. You must be flexible and be willing to learn at all time. I went from network administrator to IT support to Inverter engineer to customer service even to selling domain names online to blogging before ending as a software engineer. I made money from all these avenues. Someone told me, it takes about 5 years for a tree to grow. That was about the time it took me to make a meaningful breakthrough from the time I started investing in myself. No girlfriend, no films, no social life. I was always reading online and looking for ways to make money. There is no shortcut to success. do the work now .and smile in some years time. Dont be comfortable in your teaching job. The race is for those who are willing and determined. Do more research. Nairaland helped me alot. I had mentors from Ajanlekoko and even Seun Osewa. Seun told me to go for programming. i was always in the career section and business section. At one point. i went into importation just to make ends meet. All these skills except inverters, I picked them up from nairaland. 3 things I made sure I always have, data,a smart phone and a computer. If you have these 3 things, and you are not making money, You need to check yourself. 19 Likes 6 Shares |

shege45: be positive my brother, your time shall come. however different stories for different foes. I left school with 2.1,but 18 years later, am a taxi driver. my mates ate managers of banks here and there. but u know what, I still believe I can still catch up with them because am about becoming a lawyer. not that I did not have my own share of comfort. immediately after Nysc I went into poultry, and I was quite successful till my farm had an outbreak I did not recover from. you are still young try and do something different. your time shall come. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

gidjah:thank you....Most graduates just love following the band wagon and forgetting that this is 21st century information age where even as bad as Nigeria is perceived globally, Nigeria is still arguably part of the global village where trends and development affect her in her own degree. I have never regretted teaching in Nigeria. In fact i am looking forwad to becoming an expat in a school in Doha quite soon..... |

Nothing special about 2.1 or first class after all most people cheat to get the grades 2 Likes |

shege45:The problem is from the foundation of employment in Nigeria. Capitalization on paper qualification has filled many firms and individuals with wrong understanding of knowledge. Nigeria wakes up every morning and tries to magically be like western world without knowing or having the determinant of the current conditions of the western countries. Nigerian firms want to boast of having first class employees. But those firms foolishly do not know that many certificates held by graduates from Nigerian universities are not true representation of their holders' level of intelligence. Are you not away that 2.2 from many foreign schools worth more than first class from many Nigerian universities? But gradually, good things are beginning to happen. At least there are now schools in West Africa, in which there is no room for exam malpractice and falsification of results. In conclusion, cheating or buying 2.1, as stated by you, is wrong and cannot solve the problem. 1 Like |

Bro... Pls be calm. I also finished with a 2.2, but you won't believe where I am now in life.. WITH NO CONNECTIONS. Even if I post it, many won't believe. You have to realize and understand that there is no one rule fit all to things. Keep searching for opportunities and one day, the right one will come. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Where dem go first of all know say OP no dey intelligent is from the tying of his /her own happiness to another person's luck/fortune. Recipe for depression. You probably spent your life cramming to death with hopes of sitting in ac office. Advice, if you will take it and act on it. Get a skill that people will pay you for if you were stranded on an island.(preferably with a laptop). Another degree will be another waste of time. I will share content relating to this in the nearest future. For now tho, the secret to wealth is not in any pastor or lecturers hands, it's between your ears. #comingsoon #TShirtLifestyle 1 Like |

Everybody has stated his or her own point of view and basically how it worked for them, but the truth is there is no definite straight line road to success or that which we desire. But what I advise is ,wake up everyday with a zeal to succeed, without that, nothing works, when our mind has already been filled with self pity and dejection ,nothing works, just keep trying, keep trying that's the key, some people tried just once, others tens of times, others hundreds of times, others thousands of time, the key word is perseverance, and in time it would end in laughter. There is gonna be a lot of tears shed as u embark on the journey of success, tears of pain ,disappointment, failure, dejection, but everything together would make it a more interesting tale to tell when the time comes. I graduated thinking I read the most useless course of the century,(education religion) ,but this same course has given me what I wanted in terms of been gainfully employed in my dream field. There were lots of tears shed by me,my tears could fill a bucket as I failed series of tests and interviews, but I hanged on,that's just d key,it took me 7 solid years after graduation. In conclusion,op,u might even end up been a great entrepreneur who would employ thousands of labour, just find your path, kick out the state of helplessness that has been construed in your head and work crazily hard. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

eleojo23: @ OP...read the above 3 times....close your eyes and meditate on it...then swallow your pride..... swallow again because I know all can't be swallowed in one gulp. Being a teacher for three years by now you should have earned respect and a fair amount of reputation. You write pretty well. Have you ever thought of providing after school lessons? ...English lessons?...to kids trying to enter secondary school? There is a demand for such good teachers but supply is lacking....demand /supply...rings a bell? This is the 21st century......you're stuck in 20th century mentality as soo clearly defined in the above quote. Close your book of lamentations and spring forward to that of revelations....open the windows of your mind. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Partnerbiz:Where are they supposed to place someone who has a degree and came back for a degree. I should go back to 200 and be doing all the Maths I have done again. Toh I have told you.NUC stipulates before anyone can be awarded a degree he must have spent atleast 2 sessions in a University. Therefore Putin someone who already had a degree in 300l is not illegal. Even though I had to do few 200l courses ( 3) in total |
