we are not comparing 2004 to 2009 you blatantly said osaze only started playing well in 2009 abi i lie?

forgiveness:

You can not compare Odenwingie of 2008 up with Odenwingie of 2004. No no.

He won Nigeria player of the year around 2008 -2012. The difference is clear.

What did Iwobi do that made his talent obvious? Nada

He was an academy player. Fact

Josh already played for Sunderland in EFL cup and made the bench in the EPL. That tells alot about a 17 years old lad.

We were never lacking in the AMF position because Sone was inform of his life and Ajagun was still with Panathiniakos in 2015. There was never need for an academy player but we went for him.

Josh Maja, Eze, Billing, Ejara, Lookman etc have made more names for themselves than Iwobi ever made before he was called.

Foresight is the problem.

STRONGLY Agreed without one iota of reservation and or question

Iwobi was called up not just as a prospect but also to address a problem in the team in the Attacking Midfield roles. Oliseh picked that up when he called up the lad.

But in the case of Josh Maja... We have a couple of others also doing very well in their leagues of his age range like Osimhen and Awoniyi plus the mighty fact that we are well stocked in the attacking Dept. Josh cannot displace anyone in that team. Fact. But Iwobi could slot in because we were lacking options in the creative dept.

You mean there were no Mikel Obi of Chelsea, Sone Aluko of Fulham and Abdul Ajagun of Panathiniakos available to play the AMF role for Oliseh to call an academy player? shocked

Besides, why did Oliseh play Iwobi as a RW in the two matches he played him and not as and?

Oliseh only had his eyes for Mikel and a certain Sly Igboun. He then looked the way of Iwobi as he neither considered a Sone Aluko nor an Ajagun. It was Oliseh's insight and foresight and the opportunity to bring in a fresh high potential creative talent that made Oliseh go for Iwobi. The lad was already getting into the picture of things in the first team at Arsenal under Wenger and Oliseh picked up on that and acted on it.

Why he played Iwobi there was because he started Igboun as AM. Mikel played a bit deeper in midfield in same lineup. Iwobi came in as a sub in both games against DRC and Cameroun. Oliseh was easing him in.

What was a 17 years old Josh Maja playing in 2016 that you were calling for his "immediate" inclusion in the Super Eagles team? He was no where near being ready. That post was way way off the mark.

Even now he is not better than any of our strikers in the team. I can only recommend him for the U23. The call for his Capping is just to secure him for the future just in case he turns out good.

Na only you dey recommend players here.

Currently without the emotive hype of some of the blind fanatics here.

Which of our strikers is rated higher than Josh Maja by Managers and scouts in the EPL RIGHT NOW I can give you the answer NONE.

iwobi had impressed in pre-season with Arsenal that's what got him his first invite for the friendlies against cameroon and congo dr. it was his impressive performance for Arsenal in the latter part of the season like the match against everton where he scored his debut goal that really earned him his first competitive call up against egypt. even at that he came off the bench in that match.

no doubt about it iwobi was already in the periphery of the Arsenal first team squad for the 2015/2016 season and not this propaganda you and your tagteam partner are spewing giving the impression that alex was plucked from the arsenal u19s straight to national team

if you erroneously think the national team boosts people career how come sunday mba, agbim, igboun, rueben gabriel, odunlami, oshaniwa, mobi okparaku, gbenga okunowo just to mention a few didn't go on to have long illustrious careers

Iwobi's talent and potentials were so very obvious for everyone to see. I don't think any right thinking person here objected to his invitation.

As at that time the Super Eagles was lacking in the AM position because even Mikel was playing DM at Chelsea and CM for the Super Eagles.

Iwobi featured prominently in Arsenal's preseason tour. Iwobi was 19 and just got promoted to Arsenal's Senior team while Josh Maja was just 17 playing for Sundaland Youth team.

All players do not have equal abilities. And also the need to quickly fill a gap in the team determines how quickly youngsters will get included. If someone like Iheanacho emerged at the time we had likes of Yakubu, Martins, Utaka, Osaze and Ike Uche as strikers you think he will get his cap as quickly as he did?

Fact that Iheanacho and Iwobi got callups at 18/19 doesn't mean every other player should get same.

Iwobi was not even considered as a major prospect in the England youth set up at at 16 there was talk of dropping himat Arsenal. He was called to the SE when he had not played one game for Arsenal first team, no doubt his Uncle JJay had some influence.

Josh Maja at 17 when Sunderland were in the EPL had already played for the first team. At 18 he had played 17 games in the championship now at 19 he has played 12 games and scored 9 goals that is a phenomenal strike rate for a teenager.

Isaac success in now his third season in the EPL and in his third season scored one goal that is what some cal progress here. KC in his second season in the EPL scored in total 4 goals for Leicester.

Some have said that if KC was in league one he would be scoring for fun, football doesn't work like that. I will ask how many games did KC after his move to Leicester play for the U23 and how many goals did he score So i cant be the top goal scorer in the youth league you think he will automatically be top goal scorer in league one. i very much doubt it.

League one is not as easy as some think ask the EPL clubs beaten by league one clubs I watched Tottenham struggle against Shrewsbury town.

In my opnion Josh Maja is the most in form potent srtriker availbale to the SE right now, however , if that will transfer to international football is another question. But we will never know until he is given opportunity and if we keep wasting time Southgate will not and he will be in Englands u21 while we wait for our so called SPECIAL TALENTS who have done nothing and are still doing nothing.

We have a bright star who is boiling hot and some are debating if he is good enough.

Iwobi was ready to fill a vacant AM position left by Silvester Igboun and Sonne Aluko.

Sone Aluko di not leave, check your history and look at the impact Sone Aluko had for the SE then explain why he was dropped. But dont imply in such a way it misleads as if he refused to honour invitations to the SE.

The clown is even saying that Nacho was not the highest scorer in Leicester U-23 when Nacho only played a total of ONE whole game and even scored a goal in that game.

So how is such a player with one goal in ONE appearance for the Leicester U-23s (made when they were assessing his fitness level) supposed to be top scorer in a whole PL 2 when others have played over 19-25 games more than the Nacho??

And of all the strikers he only picked out Nacho to downplay subtly... See the length he spent trying to convince us that Nacho will not burn down the lowly league called League one... Habayakata!!!! This is too much!... Can you imagine the effontery... the dark arts of their foolery and the hypocritical goobledygookiness of his lying fingers and tongue.. The obvious hate and disdain that Clown from the Queen's ass have for this kid called Nacho??!! He suddenly forgets how Nacho was tearing things up so easily for Man City EDS at age 18 that Pellegrini and Co had to fast track his promotion to the first team.

I repeat that all our forwards from Ighalo to Iheanacho to Onyekuru to Success and even to the Young prospects in Osimhen and Awoniyi will burn down league one to the ground with goals. Is that even up for debate? Nonsense!

Why do we entertain these clueless buffoons sef? Komekn's idiocy and selective amnesia is becoming really really really worse than the word "rotten".... The man is a joke for real. Tufiakwa!

I say cheers to the foolish facts-twisting, truth-bending, and obviously blind fanatical rantings of Southgate. It is unprecedented.

On point jare.

There are some things I read here and I just begin to wonder.

These two guys will always want to argue in favor of a player or players that are not in the team. Invite the Josh Maja now and they will say he didn't deserve the call up and start fronting another player and start pulling down Josh Maja just to promote the other player. And the cycle continues.

They just like being on the complaining or protesting side. I don't even know if they are Protestants.

Abeg, I don't like arguments that revolve in cycles.

"Ighalo is loved and respected by fans of his club but in the league he is viewed like any other player despite his current status as the second top scorer in the top division. His goals have a touch of luck and lack of finesse “

” This season he has scored seven times from the spot unlike last season, where only two of his 15 goals came from penalties. Beside Chinese teams don’t invest in defenders, so most times he is up against very poorly organised teams.

” His wealth of experience should not be discarded though but it appears the drop in his game at international level has a lot to do with the lack of competition he faces in China and the easy way which he scores against these school boy defenders unlike for Nigeria, where opponents of Nigeria’s national teams are drilled to defend when up against him”
