That’s how Olanare was painting China with goals abi? Or Anichebe who could not even shoot a handgun in the Chinese 2nd tier.
I promise you many of our strikers won’t score as much as Ighalo has in China, though they could come better in the GWG. Was his exploits in England a fluke? Some players don’t just translate their club form to the national team. Ighalo seems to be one of them

tbaba1234:

Spot on..

This is why i can not put too much stock in the number of goals Ighalo scores in China.

Rohr has even said he does it together with his assistants — one of which is serving a one-year ban grin
komekn:

Agreed

And some of us actually think that Rohr is making his team selection entirely on his own. That's being Delusional.

Na true.. like say KC never play for Naija and na “two passport”, he would not only have been better than Mbappe but BY FAR
Icon4s:

See me clapping.

Asking for players to be thrown away without replacement. Lol.

Just yesterday charlsemeka was saying also that we should do away with likes of Ogu, Onazi, Mikel and Joel. Ok, name replacements asides Eze he was mentioning Billings and Ejaria. Players that don't even have Nigerian passports yet.

I particularly like those 3 words u used NEW, UNTESTED and UNPROVEN. Those are the kind of players that are always the best players for them. Nigerian fans will not cease to amaze. They will not learn. That is why every World Cup we keep producing the youngest team with an inexperience tag, calling them a team for the future. Only to throw them out again looking for another group of "young, Hungary fresh bloods".

I am whole-heartedly with Rohr on his players selection. The only player I wished he had included was Ebere Eze. Team building is a gradual process. Massively throwing away old players and flooding the team with new players will only cause more harm to the team.

Safari like a quote you made recently " there is no best player anywhere ". This same Iheanacho they are attacking if he was not playing for the Super Eagles yet and is posting this same kind of performance at Leicester City we for no hear word here. They would have hyped him to high heavens and even threaten to kill Rohr if he doesn't Cap him.

The truth is we have not even given the likes of Nwakaeme and Kayode enough opportunities. These players are truly ahead of any new name.

Well from ur own assertion, we can only hope and pray dey deliver by scoring goals, but God forbid if dis goal drought still continues btw dis two players till next year

Are we still going to call dem up base on deir previous performance or hoping dey would still come out better most especially IGHALO? undecided ,3YEARS 3GOALS? undecided, relying on dem for goals in AFCON? undecided

Dt was y I proffer d solution of giving some players d chance and let c,not until we try dem out,we won't knw if dey re better or not(eida backwater or anything)

Olanare had a good goal record in China (15 goals in about 34 games) but he could not replicate the same in Europe. Anichebe did not play many games and he was never prolific to start with.

Ighalo has one good season in the top flight. He went to China on the back on an almighty barren run.

The competition is not stiff in this SE. that’s my main criticism of Rohr. Make these players feel like there is always that player about to snatch their shirt.

edi287:
I repeat, if(when) Ebere Eze moves to a epl club - he is gone. Southgate will cap him before we can blink. This same Southgate capped Solanke who had little to no game time...what makes you think he'll wait for Nigeria to call Eze?
This was a very well calculated move from England. Rohr fanboys will look for all the excuses in the world to justify this buffoonery.
I don't think that guy learnt anything from the world cup. He's already back to playing Ndidi - Onazi as a pivot. I tire for that guy.

Anichebe could not do what Olanare did in the Chinese 2nd tier grin.

Also take note Ighalo’s barren run started in the EPL and extended to China. Why did he not start firing all cylinders immediately he moved to China?

Modified
Olanare played in the Super League season 2014/2015. The quality has improved since then though

Rangers play beautiful football, the way just dismantled Nasarawa United is very astonishing. This Aiteo cup is quite interesting with sexy football unlike the league itself. one guy that has really caught my attention is Rangers left back, Isaac. I haven't seen an NPFL left back in decades, so beautiful with pin point long and short passes, crosses accurately, very solid in defending. I dont know his age yet though I aint sure he is Nigerian. With this match against Nasarawa, dude is awesome but I wont draw any conclusion yet, considering the level of the opponent he just came up against. If our league was as beautiful as this Aiteo cup, wetin u wan talk again kwanu?

It was from an interview on the club website that he confirmed his desire to play for Nigeria at senior level.

It is not good PR for him to be talking about representing another country when he just got his first England call up. I am sure his reps appealed to the club to pull it down.

No surprise about their football style, I watched about 9 of their games in their 2016 title run.

However how was the picture/broadcast quality?

They have almost a different team from those 2016 lieutenants, though Okey Odita Pape Diop and Olusesi are still there but the core; Orji, Clement, Egbuchulam, nwobodo, Aguda, Okolie, Madu, Ocheme, Egwim even Nana Bonsu aint there no more but that Imama's touch is still prominent with their tiki-taka footie style.

About the viewing quality, I saw the match via NTA, so the less said...but the craft(the game) was beautiful, the goals too. There was this absolute beauty from Isaac's long range pass to their number 9, that was ruled offside. It was supposed to be the 5th goal for Rangers.

Too bad, seems Isaac is a Benin international.

Success, Simon have the quality to revitalise Nigeria's attack
By Colin Udoh, West Africa Editor, KweséESPN

Gernot Rohr's preference from the get-go with Nigeria has been to employ one lead striker flanked by two quick, wide forwards, supported by roving full-backs who can cross effectively.
His selections have mirrored that philosophy, especially in that striker role, where the likes of Brown Ideye, Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo have all led the line at various times.
Victor Osimhen has been on standby of sorts to slot in, but his lack
of game time at Wolfsburg has hampered his chances.

Since his recall and goal against Cameroon, Ighalo has been the default go-to line-leader, and he remains so, despite an underwhelming goal return.
However, fans were less than completely convinced by his abilities during the World Cup, and even Rohr himself admitted as much when he conceded that his call-up against Seychelles was to allow the China-based striker the opportunity to prove that the still had goals in him.
That faith was rewarded when Ighalo netted in a 3-0 win against the Seychelles, but fans remain unconvinced. So, it seems, does Rohr, at least if his decision to call up Isaac Success is anything to go by.

Rohr has long coveted the Watford striker; his abilities are not in doubt.
As a matter of fact, he ticks almost every box in the German's checklist, even if two previous invitations have come to nought.
The forward turned up on time on this occasion, an indication perhaps that the worst of his indisciplined days may perhaps be behind him.
However, of more immediate important concern to Nigeria fans will be how Success translates that to the pitch, and what that does to the current attacking dynamic.
With Ighalo on fire in China after hitting the 20-goal mark, it is hard to see him anywhere else but the starting line-up, irrespective of what the fans may think.
However, if and when Success does come on, his performance should be of massive interest...and perhaps consequence.

Speed and bruising strength will be vital against a Libya side expected to hunker down and fight for a point, like they did against Bafana Bafana.
Success' skillset is well suited to that contest, and if he does his job, as he has done with Watford so far, his age means he may just be position himself as the long-term option.

Supporting the forward on the flank will be the wide forwards.
Prior to the World Cup, Moses Simon, a Rohr favourite, was a lock for the right wide forward position, until injury struck.
Since then, Ahmed Musa has won back his place as a starter, and Alex Iwobi is enjoying a fizzing new lease of life at Arsenal.
While Victor Moses's retirement has left something of hole, Samuel Kalu has emerged as a teasing prospect, while Henry Onyekuru can also play centrally or wide.
With such a deep depth chart, Simon's return leaves Rohr with a selection headache, albeit a positive one.
Musa, Iwobi and Kalu are all in form, while Onyekuru started life on loan at Galatasaray strongly.
The Bordeaux wideman acquitted himself admirably in the victory over the Seychelles, as he made his first start, although it wouldn't be a major surprised if any of his aforementioned rivals took his spot against Libya.

Iwobi's recent rejuvenation puts the Arsenal man in line for a start on that wide position, although he could also replace Kelechi Iheanacho as the team's No. 10.
There are many coaches who would love to be in Rohr's position, but it's now up to him to make the best decisions for his side.

How fortunes turn in football is quite funny, Joel Asoro was the more respected youngster in the Sunderland ranks prior this season, in fact, Maja played second fiddle to him, hence didnt get much recognition. Asoro was too big to go down to the league 1 with Sunderland, he instead remained in the championship though with Swansea, leaving Sunderland with the less heralded Maja. Today, Maja is the toast ahead of Asoro, and he is doing it from a league lower than Asoro's. News reaching our desk, has it that Maja is a sure bet for Southampton and or Newcastle, come January but they will have to fight off other bigger epl clubs who view the youngster as the real deal. It is almost certain that Maja wont stay in the league1 past the winter transfer window as he is looking to follow in the foot steps of lookman, Alli et al who made the big leap to the EPL from the league 1

Iwobi was not even considered as a major prospect in the England youth set up at at 16 there was talk of dropping himat Arsenal. He was called to the SE when he had not played one game for Arsenal first team, no doubt his Uncle JJay had some influence.

Josh Maja at 17 when Sunderland were in the EPL had already played for the first team. At 18 he had played 17 games in the championship now at 19 he has played 12 games and scored 9 goals that is a phenomenal strike rate for a teenager.

Isaac success in now his third season in the EPL and in his third season scored one goal that is what some cal progress here. KC in his second season in the EPL scored in total 4 goals for Leicester.

Some have said that if KC was in league one he would be scoring for fun, football doesn't work like that. I will ask how many games did KC after his move to Leicester play for the U23 and how many goals did he score So i cant be the top goal scorer in the youth league you think he will automatically be top goal scorer in league one. i very much doubt it.

League one is not as easy as some think ask the EPL clubs beaten by league one clubs I watched Tottenham struggle against Shrewsbury town.

In my opnion Josh Maja is the most in form potent srtriker availbale to the SE right now, however , if that will transfer to international football is another question. But we will never know until he is given opportunity and if we keep wasting time Southgate will not and he will be in Englands u21 while we wait for our so called SPECIAL TALENTS who have done nothing and are still doing nothing.

We have a bright star who is boiling hot and some are debating if he is good enough.
