World class is a term that describes ability, not career.

Scholes in his time was not better than Eriksen at Tottenham. He just happened to have a great career as part of a dominant team in the league.

KDB is unfortunate to be playing in an era of top 6, unlike scholes who played most of his career in an era of top 2.

Ability and Great Careers often intersect, but not necessarily. Harry Kane is currently one of the best strikers in the world and is definitely world class - he doesn't have a spoon to his name.

Scholes is one of those players whose reputation after retirment does not tally with his reputation during his playing career.

How can you play for 20 years in the EPL, win 11 league titles, and only make PFA TOTY twice.
