I'm not saying Rn5 cam is bad... What i mean is the stock cam makes it bad... Especially the selfie cam... beauty mode is enabled by default and can't be turned off

You also know that iPhone XS Max has beauty mode enable by default and cannot be turned off. So it is not RN5 thing.

I took a selfie picture on my mi max 2 using both stock camera and gcam. The gcam pix was so clear that it had too much shiny detail. Even the hairs on my face were appearing shiny.

Although it came out clearer than stock camera, I actually preferred the pix from the stock camera because it looked more real life. If I look in real life like what the gcam shows, I go dey even fear myself.

lol grin, that's because it captures many pictures together at a time and fuse them together, u can reduce the hdr+ effect though. But stock just doesn't have details like gcam, even with hdr enabled on stock e no still reach

Ooh, now I see the workability of gcam. I think it's basically a function of software that still has to work within the limit of the hardware prowess of the device it's installed in.

I don't understand all these hues and cries over gcam and no gcam. This is the reason why when I'm buying any device, I don't go about asking questions or even flaunting it. People with their mouth can make you hate what you so much desire.

If you want dslr level of phone camera photographs, please go for flagship devices like Nokia that uses Carl Zeiss lens or Samsung or iPhone. Don't come and hide under mid-range devices that some of us love and cherish as it is and be bad mouthing it.

Life with RN5 does not begin and end with gcam. Those calling it 'poo' or whatever I'm not sure can manufacture a case cover talk less of writing the camera app codes but will be quick to condemn other people's hard work and sweat.

If you want a phone with excellent camera by all means go for a flagship device and don't be bother. kiss

Apt. Since I have started using phones, I can say my max 2 is the only one that has lasted over one year..
I'm not so much of a camera person but I remember how Samsung galaxy s3 camera was hyped then. Today, looking at the camera in hindsight, you would realize it doesn't match today's redmi note 5 which some people call poo

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by bigtt76(f): 12:03pm On Oct 21, 2018
Exactly! The guys always want to show off as 'having the best...' or the first or only one to have this or that. Too much competition.

I remembered how Infinix released Hot2 Android One series back then. People were rushing it because other people were not knowing it is stock Android based and comes with the barest minimum app as possible.

People later started complaining Android One is poo etc just because there was no File Manager yet they were running away from phones with File Managers and bloatwares. All they needed to do was install one from play store.

Then you also have those wanting to root the phone already with stock android ooo just because people had hyped rooting of Android devices without caring to know why they did! Of course many were bricked when the updates started coming.

It will interest all to know that I still have that phone with me. Infact I transitioned from it to RN5. I've learnt to be satisfied and grateful with what I have or can afford.

Mid-range devices were not built to give you first class experience but rather to offer you something similar to it. If you want first class experience go for the flagship device.

To all prospective Xiaomi device buyers, Please research properly before buying one. Get your priorities right. Cameras on phone are not meant to replace the traditional cameras with DSLR in other words, you can't open a photo studio with a camera phone whether it comes with gcam or not.

Do not let camera on phone be your number one priority but if that is your priority, then get a flagship device.

Update on the notification icons on the Pocophone, the latest beta update brought some form of temporary fix for this. Whenever you receive notifications, the icons flashes on the status bar for like 5 seconds before reverting back to the clock. E better pass nothing.
