Actually Kenya will overtake South Africa - not only within you lifetime - but in one generation - if the current status quo hold. Singlehandedly, funded peace keeping missions in raging Africa. As it stands, Nigeria with the annual GDP of $400b is the largest economy in AFRICA. It is the only country in Africa listed among the “Next Eleven” economies poised to become the biggest economies in the 21st century.


Third was and still is the political influence.
From ECOWAS to OAU and UN, we were and still the major player. Nigeria political influence can't be overlooked. We were directly involved in the independent of African countries and also very directly active in campaigns for the proscription of racism and apartheid in South Africa. That was when Kenya cowardly backed out in pretence they are Switzerland of Africa. Bhahahaha!

Fourth reason is military power. Nigeria has the strongest military in the sub Sahara Africa beside South African.
