The organised labour union on Tuesday invaded the presidential villa, Abuja in protest of an immediate implementation of what it agreed with the government as the new minimum wage. The protest led by TUC president, Bobboi Kagama, was tagged ‘National day of mourning.’ Kaigama speaking insisted that the labour union will not leave the Villa until the governors and executive committee on New minimum wage led by the vice, president Yemi Osinbajo respond positively to their demands. They wondered why the governors would not pass the agreed new minimum wage, insisting that the increment will not lead to any form of inflation. Bull crap, 30k less than $100 per month is not the people’s resolve. Labour is not representing Nigerian’s. You can not give a family man less than $100 per month and expect him no to be currupt at every level. This is wickedness 2 Likes |

Slazim: The annual salary of one Senator will pay 400 graduates of the rank Contiss 8 Step 1 university non academic staff salary scale. We need to have maximum wage so that salaries can be distributed in such a way that politicians won't crumbs the economy. 1 Like |

The excuse that governors cannot pay N30k minimum ia an example of what is wrong with Nigeria. Governors and political appointees are enjoying large salaries and other perks in office but when it comes to salaries of already underpaid and impoverished workers, there is suddenly no money. Hard decision which may include laying off some workers to build an effective and efficient work force needs to be taken. |
