Beautyaddy: If the answer is yes and no, then, even if there was indeed a shortage, it is not acute as that my brother put it. Something acute is always crystal clear- very obvious- such that there will be no doubts or arguments at all. |

yemiosinbajo: Leverage is a bad thing only if you do not know how to use and manage it! How does one buy a house, car or any other major purchase or investment without debt? Short of stealing or having access to some sweet deal to make money not available to everyone else? You will need to slowly accumulate your earnings if you do not have access to debt. Access to leverage is one big differences between the western world and third world countries like Nigeria. In America, nobody waits to accumulate funds to make investments. You leverage, invest, make gains and pay back. You are not truly successful until money starts to work for you vs. you working for money. Think about this, in the U.S., personal income taxes can go as high as the 35% bracket. Capital gains tax is capped at 15%. In other words, if I work and I am paid $250k, I can potentially pay 35% in taxes. However, if I invest money in stocks and earn $250k gains, I pay 15% in taxes and the interest on my debt is also a tax shield.... tax deductible. 2 Likes |

yemiosinbajo: The people who drown into debts are the ones who got carried away and were not disciplined enough with borrowing money they could afford to be able to pay back without breaking a bank over a short period of time in order to avoid unnecessary interest. There are some school loans that people can borrow who have very little to no interest as long as they continue to make the agreeable payments with the lender. |

Beautyaddy: Not always , some have medical debt that can run into the millions, it’s not someone fault if they get really sick. Some jobs are really strict and will let you go even for short term illnesses. Even with health insurance, some things may not be covered. |

yemiosinbajo: well different strokes for different folks Nigerians in particular like Nigeria because it's a LAWLESS COUNTRY I mean, if you have the cash, there are SO MANY poor people around that are ready to be your lackey And if ever Nigeria gets better, many of such perks will vanish I'm not a multi millionaire in dollars (yet, even tho I dey try) But if I'm a millionaire in $$$ Id rather live in a ranch somewhere in the Caribbean / South America, or may be SA than live in that $hithole called Nigeria but that's me. All these things boil down to individual perspectives tho Some like being the well off one in the midst of so so much poverty I don't 6 Likes |

Ugosample: Exactly, America is stolen land ,so a good portion of Americans have benefited from this law. Almost 2 years into presidency he has not successfully ended daca, an executive order by Obama , he now wants to change part of the constitution , he must be out of his mind. Also the Nigerians supporting him must be out of their mind , either they have or children have benefited from this birthright citizenship. 1 Like |

AnthonyAk: interesting I think we have rolled in similar circles in the for you to know some of these people One thing I do know about anambra people tho is that they often have that magnet that pulls them back to that zone Even a childhood friend who never lived much in Anambra state before (he is from nnokwa, I have followed his family there once to attend a trad wedding) is planning to build a house there and I'm like Unfortunately, it's not like that for me because my parents kept me away from all that (I'm from imo btw) that's why it seems odd to me that despite being of Igbo origins, the craze for "going home" is virtually non existent for me. you see so many of them planning to go back to village this December and all, (planned weddings and all) so that might be the case for chimamanda and indeed many others. Ugosample: Naija sweet , forget this thread. I went clubbin in enugu at that time period of my cousins 50th birthday (Ivara's Sister) and was blown away. The flexing no be here oh. My uncle was even telling me how theres no point in leaving , he just finished an estate in awka. Funny story that day the Governor of Anambra , Imo and Enugu plus their deputies and aides were all there. See big men dey drag politics about how they want Buhari to be president. I was in the midst of power quietly sipping on hennesy. My point is those connections are seldom made here on some shit. They just finished mayoral politics in here in Vancouver. No single non white even won a mayoral seat for any of the cities. 1 Like |

AnthonyAk: Really?...and here I thought they are claiming that Canada is a very immigrant-friendly country? What about the Asians living there? Did they win any political position? I learnt that a major amount of Asians reside in Vancouver. |
Re: Share Your Experience Of Life Outside Nigeria. by Ugosample(m): 12:41am On Oct 31, 2018 |
Beautyaddy: true a lot of Asians live in BC but then....... It's all abt Good governance Canada did have a black governor General of Haitian origin in the past Lagos on the other hand will most likely NEVER have an igni governor, nor those communities in Ebonyi with significant Hausa populations ever have a Hausa man represent that plsvd despite the fact that it is aboki that habit in these places Yet the same black men cry of racism and discrimination 3 Likes |

Ugosample: White Europeans are not fighting enough to come here as their non white counter parts .if you look at the thread that Yemi posted, white American people living in Europe were regretting their citizenship. |
Re: Share Your Experience Of Life Outside Nigeria. by Beautyaddy: 1:16am On Oct 31, 2018 |
Babyvet: Whatever to them. They can give up their US citizenship and move to those European countries they can still acquire citizenship from. The population of America is more than enough they can even handle now. Getting rid of some the 300 millions plus US population will not be felt. |
Re: Share Your Experience Of Life Outside Nigeria. by AnthonyAk(m): 1:31am On Oct 31, 2018 |
Beautyaddy: Canada is still run by white men and yes there are lots of asians. Canadians aren't as dumb as I thought, the Asians have money but a handful of wealthy white Canadian families own everything else in the country. Flights to Asian counties are much from Vancouver. Babyvet: I read the thread on quora It's all abt the taxes And besides, in today's world, a European passport will open doors to as many countries as an American passport. So no big deal but if you come from a third world $hithole with a useless passport, (India, etc) having a western passport is a big deal |
