Actually my reason of stating that I don't know their status is because throughout this year, ever since I got married to my wife, my parents cut contact and relationship with me. They were never in support of the woman I married, thus that's why I have only done intro, and court marriage.

Secondly, before they decided not to return back to Nigeria, my Uncle who's a citizen have agreed to file for them a green card. I don't know what status I will call them considering the fact that I have not been in communication with them for a while now, and I don't know how things are going for them there.

Do you think this genuine reason is enough for the V.O? This is the only reason I have.
Firstly, you need to realise that the advises we dish out here are not perfect and expert advice as most of us may not be Officers. What we do is give logical explanations based on experiences over time and the information candidates present here. Lagosismyhome have advised you to say what you know since your relationship with them is direct. They are not your distant relations.
If you claim not to know about their status, inquire from your uncle. If you feign ignorance about their status on the basis of what you just explained, you may be denied on grounds of misrepresentation or attempt to conceal information.

I am not asking you to tell them everything you just explained now, but tell them what you know about their current status. Be honest and confident about it (as they already know). If you're able to convince them on every other aspect of your application, you will very likely be approved. Good luck!

Go ahead. Make sure to check that your school did not write your Mom's name on the I-20, otherwise, you will have to use her only as the sponsor when filling the dsform. If the term "family" is what appear on your i-20 as source of fund, then you can use uncle account. But state uncle's name on your dsform. Note that.

Good luck

Gloryemo:

Hello house, please I need answers. If I used mom's account to get i-20, can I use another account like uncle account to go for visa interview Will there be any issue? Please people answer please.. Thanks.

Go ahead if it is because the funding is low. Make sure to check that your school did not write your Mom's name on the I-20, otherwise, you will have to use her only as the sponsor when filling the dsform and present her statement at embassy if visa will be granted.. If the term "family" is what appear on your i-20 as source of fund for sponsorship, then you can use uncle account. But state uncle's name on your dsform as sponsor. I assume an uncle is a part of a whole family. Note that.

Good luck

Hello all,

Please I have submitted my DS-160 form, booked for an appointment which will be on the 5th of December, and I will be attending Touro College New York City.

I have some few questions that are quite disturbing me and I see them as issues that may affect my chances, that's why I want to discuss here with anybody here that is willing give me sound advises.

My parents are old and have retired in the US with my Uncle who is citizen, but my parents don't have papers and are not working there. I want to know if this can affect my chances of getting a student visa?

I am married but with no Child yet. In my application I indicated that my parents are in US but I don't their status. Is this also ok?

Thank you very much.

It is painful to see parents do this to their own son. You made your choice and since it wouldn't be right for them to choose for you, they should know better. I will not lie to you, their appearance on your application will not be favourable. A few students from this forum has reached out to me on something like this. All of them got denied, even after 3rd appearance.

Supposing I publish an advert on a National Newspaper disowning my parents stating these reasons, and then attach it along with my application to show the V.O that I do not have anything to do with my parents because I don't want their actions to affect me my chances of getting an education in America. Do you think it will sell? Do you think it will make the V.O judge my case for I am, and not my parents?

Why should you go this far... Disowning your parents

Please send a private message to some experienced people in this forum. They will guide you more. Not everything can be said publicly regarding this your situation.

God forbid you doing that! NEVER! You must rise above their disaffection with you; you must prove you are better than what they think of you, and your love and honour for your parents must remain. Take such thought out of your mind because of US Visa. Your parents are coming back to you. Let God take care of how they have used the parental honour to reject you.
You proposed idea will not work; in fact, it will make you look desperate at the embassy, and the consular who will interview you may not even check the newspaper. That is why I wanted us to talk personally--adult-to-adult, off this forum!
Be strong!

Here your responses were sufficient as you initially got through. For some reason your bank statement might have been the issue . I know most embassies dont like lump sum and prefer seeing steady in and out . Not sure how to advice other than maybe go again and hope for the best . Or maybe you should have used your mum bank statment or gone with it

As long as your student is not applying for the Fall 2019 admission using the Early Action/Decision, the result from the Dec.1st SAT exam will be accepted. This is because the results will be out before end of December, and the Regular Decision applications are due from Jan 1st onward, depending on the college.
Thank you. Keeping fingers crossed and waiting for the schools decision first. I got to understand that ACTS exams was cancelled, dunno if it was everywhere but the boy is in the East and said he received a cancellation email 3 days prior the exams date.
