Supposing I publish an advert on a National Newspaper disowning my parents stating these reasons, and then attach it along with my application to show the V.O that I do not have anything to do with my parents because I don't want their actions to affect me my chances of getting an education in America. Do you think it will sell? Do you think it will make the V.O judge my case for I am, and not my parents?

Take it easy ooo. America is not that deep to want to disown parents due to application.

The guy who posted this actually called me and explained it all. The parents were at fault. As a grandmother ma, would you reject the woman your son choose? And if he insist that is who he wanna marry, would you stop communicating with him? This tantamount to rejection. I have experienced rejection in my own family, and I am still healing from the pain and lags the experience inflicted.

Well, maybe a lot more than a lot. The issue is intertwined with the state of the country herself. When young people don't want to stay because they see a country that is hostile to their dream, what do you expect? Benjamin Franklin once said that "an empty sack cannot stand". Being inadequate and desire for integrity hardly dwell together. Nevertheless, we must shun this behavior while we work on the mess...it is just not going to be easy and happen soon.

*Visa Interview Oreientation at the Walter Carrington Victoria Island Lagos*

2 female consular(The black american lady that denied me on Monday lol and one other white American lady)

Don't get nervous,Most students are denied because they look nervous like they crammed the whole thing in their head.Be yourself and lets have a chit chat.
Talk to us like you talking to a friend, don't get nervous because it's not gonna do you any good.We are humans like you.
Learn about your school, your course of study, where you gonna stay, your city.Talk like a geniue student.Studying in the U.S. is not easy,so you gat prove to us that you deserve it.
Each consular has the way of asking questions.
The normal interview questions are...

Which school are you going to in the US?
Why you choosed the school?
How did you get to know about the school?
Your study plan?
Why the course and what will the course do do you,Its the same as what will this degree do for you?
Talk about your academic background?
What's your intent after study??(home ties)
Your sponsor and what he does??

Questions and Answers

Ques_Can applying to one school be the reason for denial?

Ans_No,just give us reason why you applied to one school that's all, there should be some unique reasons why you picked the school and not just because your friend is there or their anty is in that city or the ransom reasons students give to us.No,give us genieu reasons why you choosed the school and how you got to know about the school.

Ques_Can one get denied because you choosed a low ranked school or school that is not ranked?

Ans_You can choose any school that suits you,in as much it's accredited. The ranking doesn't really matter.Just tell us about the school, your major and why you choosed the school. That's all...
You should talk like a credible and qualified student that deserves to get a visa.

Que_Can dressing be a reason for refusal?

Ans_No,You can wear what suits you.It doesn't count.Your responses does.

Que_If the amount on your i-20 you used in processing the school is lesser than your recent bank statment. Is that a problem?

Ans_Not at all,in as much the amount on your i-20 can take care of your first and second year not necessarily the whole amount needed to finish your study!
Que_If your school included a test waiver,Is it bad to talk about it on your interview day?

Ans_Why not,in as much you can talk to us about it,Its not a problem...(but in my mind some consular don't find it funny, depending on who is interviewing you lol)

Que_When can I book for my interview ?

Ans_Don't book interview more than 120days to your resumption date .

Que_Is bank statment a requirement ?

Ans_No,Its not required by law to collect BS but you can use that to convince us that you can afford it. We might ask tho depending on who interviews you.Sometimes we ask and sometimes we don't.

Ques_what are the requirements for a successful visa interview?

Ans_Make sure you are a credible and qualified student
_ Preparation for course of study
_ Intent and ties to your home country

Ques_How can I show ties and proof to my country?

Ans_We don't need any proof just tell us what and what you want to do when you return,if you are gonna work or return to your work and say it confidently and if you are engaged or married let us know. They are also part of ties to your home country.

If you wanna see consular talk attend Wednesday sessions at the education USA @ Walter Carrington by 9:30am
These tips will really go a long way, thanks for sharing.

Sevis fee last for one year so it should still be valid but ask further

I have been a silent reader since the last season and the thread has been informative and helpful. Big ups to lagosismyhome, and ofcourse twoods (when i first joined the thread, he asked me to read through the thread from the beginning but in his usual twoods way some people including me would say sounds arrogant but he speaks the plain truth always just not how one would like to hear it lol bro no vex for me then.

My journey so far, I have a BSc. In ICT (networking option) and i have applied and gotten admission to two schools for a masters, St. Clouds (Information Assurance- Networking option) and Concordia University (information technology management). and i have written the toefl exam as well. I am planning to pay the sevis fee by next week to secure an interview date and i am looking forward to giving my testimony on this thread as well.

Ps. Please gurus in the house, do all schools offer scholarship, how can I apply for one and is it too late to do that or can it be done at any stage of the application and what are the qualifications to get one? Thanks

Hello guys.....I am in the process of scheduling an appointment. Kindly critique my transcripts. Gracias

VO: Hello, good morning
ME: Good morning. How are you this morning

VO: Sevis and I-20, please
ME: Hand it over to him/her

VO: So you are traveling to the US. Why
ME: To undergo a research/thesis based MSc in Biology with concentrating on Molecular Biology at USM, Hattiesburg. An institution that is identified as a tier-1 research university by the Carnegie Foundation

VO: You are a veterinary doctor
ME: Answers in the affirmative

VO: What year did you graduate
ME: 2015

VO: So what have you been doing since
ME: Participated in the compulsory NYSC where I was the president of a group that advocated against the illegal use of hard drugs, upon completion, I secured a job as a veterinary surgeon in a small animal clinic, presently I work at a veterinary pharmacy.

VO: How many schools did you send your application to
ME: Two…..Purdue University and USM

VO: What similarities do both have
ME: classified as a Tier-1 high research institution by the Carnegie Foundation with researches providing insights in areas of science, humanities, veterinary and healthcare

VO: Why MSc in the US
ME: In the US, the structure and scope of researches conducted in the areas of molecular biology from articles I’ve read as well as interaction with senior colleagues possess a high level of applicability while also providing insights to real-life problems. Thus a research-based MSc in the US will prepare me for opportunities in the field of molecular biology once I return to Nigeria

VO: How did you come across USM
ME: I do study scholarly articles on infectious diseases and molecular biology with emphasis on vector-borne zoonosis. Stumbled upon a scholarly material by Prof ******* which aligns with my interest. So I mailed him to inform him of my interest. Sent me more articles to read and we scheduled a Skype interview, after which he told me he will recommend me if my application passed through the graduate school.

VO: So why molecular biology?
ME: Do you know that %70 of human diseases and outbreaks are of zoonotic origin. You will also be surprised that a sizeable number of this diseases are caused basically by parasites and bacteria. As a molecular biologist, I will not just be equipped with the ability to understand the dynamics of the interaction of these disease-causing agents at their genetic level, but also develop approaches to preventing them from causing diseases.

VO: So what will you do after this degree
ME: I will come back to my dear country (Nigeria), secure a lecturing position and prepare future molecular biologists as we prepare to face the challenges of emerging and re-emerging diseases. I will also ensure I engage myself in activities of relief agencies such as WHO, ILRI, CDC

VO: How do you plan to fund your study
ME: My admittance came with a research assistantship position with a full tuition waiver and monthly stipends, the sum of which exceeds the estimated expenses. I will also be getting financial support from my brother

VO: What does your brother do
ME: He is a Senior Travel Consultant in *********

VO: Why is he paying for you
ME: He always wanted me to be the best in whatever situation I find myself. And he was more than encouraged when I graduated top of my class from the university.

VO: Do you have any relations in the US
ME: Yes…..Aunt

VO: Interesting….what tests did you take
ME: GRE and PTE

VO: Types for some sec…….congratulations, I will be approving your visa……...
ME: joyous.

If when you paid is not more than a year, I believe you can contact SEVIS to change. You cant use the same sevis code because the one on your former i20 will be different

I actually did this, the new school will prepare a prior I20 for you, visit the fmjfee.com website and click on the I901 fee transfer button, fill in the details of the new Sevis code from your preferred school and the new school sevis code, they'll send you a 'no reply' mail notifying you that they received your request and another one about the status...it takes two business days to completely transfer your sevis fee(note your fee is valid for a year)...best wishes

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 10:51pm On Nov 09, 2018
To elaborate, the student who posted this should open up on when he appeared for the last interview. I am not a consular, but I can tell you that if he recently appear for last interview, say last 6-8 months, then this is not a good idea. Before a student choose a school and head to the embassy with its I-20, he/she is believed to have scrutinized available option, and choose what's best for him/her. Changing school after a denial that isn't more than a year gap tantamount to inconsistency, and being unsure.

If the distance between the last interview and the proposed one is more than one year and student situation (based on ground for last denial) has changed, then it is another story. The poster did not even share why he's changing the school in the first place. Let's wait for the visa outcome!

Good luck to him.
