TedExNairaland:
In continuation from my last week thread (https://www.nairaland.com/4825225/appreciating-serenity-greenery-city-enugu#72649974) to showcase Nigerian capital cities. This week on this thread, I will be showcasing the city of Owerri. Owerri is a city I love so much. I intend to show how the city has grown over the years through individual real estate development, in addition to little government effort through road construction and expansion, and provision of other socio amenities. Let's enjoy.

Show us images of Douglas road and the surrounding areas. Political images are meant for blind and bewitched people. Show us the entry areas to Owerri at the approaching the cathedral. Is development localised to Owerri and Orlu? Which other areas were developed in the last 7 years? Show us the images of those areas too.

Please this is not a political thread. It is to appreciate the gradual development of the city over the years. I wonder why people love negativities?

Owerri is a very beautiful city by Nigerian standard. I have lived in Abuja, Lagos, P.H etc but I dare say that Owerri and Abuja are the best places one can live and enjoy life in Nigeria but since Abuja is a city built for the mega rich with the poor pushed out to the suburbs, Owerri now becomes the only city where a middle class Nigerian can live a comparatively serene and happy life.
The night life in Owerri is the best you can get in Nigeria and is comparable to what obtains in the francophone countries. The whole of New Owerri never sleeps, in fact you can walk around and get taxi any time of the night and the clubs are always lively.
The city also has a relatively educated and civil populace but the citizens mostly live for the day as they can spend all their life savings in just one outing, and the Igbo axiom "nke onye riri ka obu ala nmuo" is like a motto here. Now, yahoo boys have taken over the city. Also, many Igbo diaspora population like owning properties in Owerri as it is the only place they can have some semblance of sanity.
Rochas tried during his first tenure before iberiberism took over him and he lost it. We need a new governor who will take over (Ihedioha hopefully) who could build durable roads on those expanded but very poorly constructed roads Rochas built.

I just love Owerri, and I'll always reside in the city except I decide to leave the country.

Owerri is a city to watch out for in ten years time and would certainly become a prime destination in Nigeria.

TedExNairaland:

Read from the beginning ....I stated it that, the development is private, in addition to road expansion by government and other social Amenities provided by government. Who doesn't know development in the east is individual? Only lazy people wait for government. Though, it doesn't take the place and role of government in development.

The Queen’s language is not one of our native languages, hence most folks cannot comprehend its length and breadth fully. I hope you understand....just ignore!

You should ignore some negative comments that have no substance. You have said severally that Rochas performed poorly and that is the general consensus here so what exactly is his argument??
