Pls nah let someone tell me which one is primary market and which is secondary... wasn't told anytin of such when I went to first bank. Was only told to fill a form and bring it early on Friday. Someone should pls help |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nnamz(m): 5:17pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
cutedharmee: Primary market occurs every 2nd Wednesday. You wouldn't know the rate until the bidding is over. Whereas secondary market is everyday; just email your account officer and ask what days and rates are available. They could say that they have 265 days at 11%, or 45 days at 10%, just an example. Bottom line is, you wait till every second Wednesday to do primary market, while you can do secondary market at any time of the day. Cheers 1 Like |

aremso: If the rate never appreciates to 600, then the guy is screwed.. Mind you the dollar has been devalued by 222 naira over the period of 15 years , that's enough time to make a profit. If you look at the graph , you will see dips that you can capitalize on to make a profit.. The people who scream inflation act like it's a compounding phenomenon.. eg Inflation maybe 12% this year and 17% next year , that's only an increase of 5%, whereas your total interest on tb if your yearly average is 14%, means a total of 28% in two years ..that's s profit of 23%. As have been expressed earlier nobody knows what the exchange rates will look like , it may go up, but in the interim there's lots of opportunities to make a profit.. Need I remind you that Somalias currency has gained significant value over the last 5 years , so it can happen. 2 Likes

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ositadima1(m): 8:50pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
ahiboilandgas: Mr Alikote is dat you? By the way, someone made an interesting point earlier. If inflation was indeed compounding in a few years naira would worth nothing. A 14% inflation that compounds negatively would require only 5 years to wipe initial principal, but, despite inflation being double digits for the past couple of years, naira is yet to hit the d floor. How is that so? |
