For the umpteenth time, state borders are for administrative convenience, they, most times, do not delineate ethnic composition. This is one simple fact - of geography - that 90% of Nigerians lack! States are not strictly ethnic groups. Most of the names our states bear are actually foreign in origin: Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Cross river etc... Others are acronyms: Bayelsa, Abia etc... Few are of native origin.

I have personally met an Ijaw man - Doubra - whose community lies within Ondo state.

But knowing that this same CIA is the same agency responsible for the much peddled Hausa-Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo 18% Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio-Efik 3.5% Figure that was brandished around for a very long time, is it safe to say these new figures are also unrealistic and suspect?
Also the way they seem to be able to arrive at such precise percentages, plus their inclusion of an "unspecified" category seem to suggest that they did some sort of survey? (If they did, then when, where and how did it happen)

Take for example, How Igalas be 1% but Urhobos don't rank?
Hausas and Fulanis together are now 33.7% from 29%
Igbos are now 14.1% from 18%
Yorubas came as the biggest shock crashing down to 13.9% from a previous 21% More than 7% decrease.
Ijaws also went frm 10% to 2% (This one i am not surprised, because trust me, everyone knew Ijaws were not 10% of Nigeria)

The consequence of this is that Hausas alone are now the same population as Igbos and Yorubas combined, without even factoring in the fulanis YET.

What actually happened? Are the new stats more believable than the old one from the same Agency, or are both figures old and new total crap, which would only suggest that this so called agency are just amateurs sitting in some armchair in faraway Washington D.C making wild unresearched guesses? It is due to high birth rate among hausa/fulani ethic group. if nigeria is not restructured in the next 20 years, hausa/fulani will be 50% and Muslim population will be 60-70% and nigeria will be official Islamic republic and hausa/fulani-diminated nation. Mark my words.

Apparently they rely mostly on which language you speak. So a lot of people who speak hausa are branded as being hausa whether they are from jos, kwara or sokoto. But most of those people will make it clear to you that they are not hausa. The main exception are the Kanuri who will never speak hausa though most understand it.

Today I detest CIA on this issues. Absolutely wrong. Fulanis are just 0.10% and originally they are not Nigerians. Another point of corrections, Hausa’s are not populated as exzaggerated. It’s not all the North that are Hausas. Bauchi is not Hausa , but the central capital is Hausa majority. How many Hausa run away to diaspora like especially Igbo or Yoruba? When you keep going to abroad and Hausa remain in Nigeria do we need to look far as to why the north dominate. And the fact that an average northern or Muslim homes have more than 1 wife compare to most southern states with one wife , the only way you can match up with the north is to start marrying more than one wife and minimise going away to diaspora.
