Hello everyone,

I use a Honda 2006 model. I’ve been having this constant issues with car overheating when I switch on the AC. However, it is every important to note that I’ve done everything possible to to rectify this anomaly. Basically, all necessary cooling stuffs are working. The fan is working perfect (2 fans), I’ve had the radiator washed out (which is a double cell radiator).. But the car overheats while the Ac is On still. It sometimes goes off while in motion.. I’ve to switch off the AC and after a minute or two, car picks off.

Highlight

1) Car overheating inspites having the fan working perfect, double cell radiator watched out recently, and as well as radiator coolant. It’s important to note that the fan Belt is working perfect.

2) When the AC is on, if the car doesn’t overheat in motion, it sometimes goes off abruptly. Until I switch off the AC and wait for few minutes before it picks up.

I’ve spent lot of money on trial and error mechanics but not sure what the exact cause might be. I’m considering changing the Fuel pump but I don’t wanna waste money since the exact cause isn’t identified yet.

Kindly help cause the weather is hot and need 24/7 AC while driving. Thanks in advance...

You need to replace that radiator.

For your engine that's going off and on take the car to a good workshop that makes use of advanced scanning machine to check.

Did you recently replace a fan unit?

May I share my experience...?

I gave my car out to a couple getting married. Upon receipt of the car, I noticed that the reverse gear makes a gurgling sound when engaged. Never happened before. I kept driving, then noticed engine was beginning to overheat. I forced vehicle into side road and inspected engine. I had boiling water in the water reservoir. I waited for it to cool and then drove home. Started engine and noticed a leak from one of the 1/2 inch hoses. I bought hose-clips that screwed tight, not the press-and-release kind I had. I replaced clips, opened radiator cap and found a shocker. Water level was not in sight! I couldn't understand why my reservoir had water and the radiator was semi-dry.
Oh, by the way, I use the A/C regularly.
I topped-up radiator and checked cooling fan relay (I learnt to keep a spare after reading Ikenna351's Peugeot journey long ago). Cooling fan relay was hot, burnt. I replaced relay.
Car was okay for short journeys, but I noticed my reservoir was emptying out, which was unusual.
I drove to Ogbomosho, A/C on. Going was smooth. Leaving the event, I topped-up both radiator and reservoir and set off. About an hour in, noticed temperature needle rising (A/C had suddenly started blowing warm air, which caught my attention). I parked, topped-up with coolant and replaced another burnt relay. Completed journey without A/C. Then noticed my battery terminal was shaking when I switch off in traffic, as I had to knock it to start.
Got home and reached GAZZUZZ next day.
He recommended I replaced pressure cap. I also tightened the loose bolts that clamp the wires (not the ones that hold the leads to the battery terminal).
Problem stopped.
Knowing myself, I'll likely plan another FAR trip to be very sure. I like having confidence in my v6 Accord.

Hello, pls I need your advise. My A.C cools when I set it on low in the mornings and evenings and when its rainy..but in a hot afternoon or even hot morning, I have to put it on 3 to really feel anything. When I put my hand to the vent there is cold air yet it doesnt seem to be spreading. Any suggestions? Thanks

Old thread but I have similar issue, am wondering if mine has to do with the ambient sensor that is not present in the car? because I had new filters installed early this year.

Regards

1,if your idle is very low your compressor won't work.solution clean you throttle head
2,faulty compressor.
your compressor is having low compression.

If your car A/c cools morning and evening, then you need to refill your system(gas)

Make sure they drain the air before refilling.

Another thing the could cause this: Engine low pressure :
If your car engine has low pressure, A/C compressor won't start until your car starts moving. If A/C compressor didn't start they won't be cooling.

Meet your mechanic, he should check the engine pressure, if it's low, the should increase it to moderate level. Not too high o

Plz don't quote me, say your own.

I have refilled it already but it still doesn't cool in the afternoon as much as it does in the morning and evenings. My 1 in the morning is almost equivalent to 3 in the afternoon

Be sure the air was drained before refilling, if not there's no enough gas in your system. Be sure the gas was filled with the normal liquid content- less content equals to your problem.

Set your temperature to lowest

Wash your condenser if it's dirty- the body.

Another thing that could this, is faulty Expansion valve. If the expansion valve is faulty it could affect the cooling
