Key Evidence Missing As Offa Bank Robbery Suspects Plead Not Guilty by Ritzy10(f): 1:15pm On Nov 30, 2018 |
The Suspected five armed robbers allegedly involved in the April 5, 2018 deadly bank robbery in Offa town Kwara state have all pleaded not guilty to the five-count charges preferred against them at the state High Court, Ilorin. When the matter came up for further mention on Friday, the accused persons, Ayoade Akinibosun, Ademola Abraham, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Niyi Ogundiran and Salahu Azeez, were represented by Mathias Emeribe, as the only defence counsel. The five-count charges preferred against the five suspects included conspiracy to commit robbery of five banks while armed with dangerous weapons and explosives, contrary to 2004 Criminal Law 1 subsection 2. Also, the five accused persons were accused of committing armed robbery on five commercial banks while armed with dangerous weapons and explosives. Others include alleged murder of nine police officers, including three female police officers and many unnamed residents of the ancient town of Offa during deadly armed robbery attack on five banks on April 5, 2018. Also, they were charged with culpable homicide of nine police officers and many other innocent people during the deadly bank robbery, an offence punishable with death. The suspects were also accused of being in possession of illegal firearms, including two AK 47 rifles and other dangerous weapons. All the five suspects, who pleaded not guilty to all the five count charges preferred against them, also said that they were not in Offa town on the day of the armed robbery. All the accused persons also said that they did not conspire with anyone to rob the banks or had any intention to kill anyone, adding that they had never held firearms. Earlier the court had struck out the name of the first accused person, Michael Adikwu, said to have died in police custody, from the case after the prosecution, and the state Attorney General, Kamaldeen Ajibade, filed an application to amend the charge. The highlight of Friday’s proceedings was the absence of compact disc, containing confessional video evidence, which the defence counsel said he was yet to lay his hands on. Also, the prosecution said that he was not in possession of the disc, explaining that it was still in Police headquarters, Abuja, and yet to be released to him. The presiding judge, Halima Salman, therefore, adjourned the matter till January https://zenithnaija.com/key-evidence-missing-as-offa-bank-robbery-suspects-plead-not-guilty/

I'd rather just not comment. Armed robbers that killed over 30 people yet the police that should prosecute them is holding on to evidence. What a country! 36 Likes 2 Shares |

After talking to lawyers, these criminals like Evans change their word and now plead not guilty? Geez, we saw these morrafuckas on CCTV. Police better strengthen their prosecution and legal team so they can get criminals like these to death penalty Death Penalty to evil kidnappers like Evans Death Penalty to murderous armed robbers like Ayo Akinbosun and Michael Adikwu Death Penalty to ritualists like the bastards that killed Zino in Delta state Death Penalty to murderous spouses Justice for all. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

and you still believe in this country? what a shame. Remember that many of kwara state officials were indicted and implicated in the robbery case. Even a SSA to the governor was said to have bought the car used and hide the car in government house after the operation before the bubble burst . Up until now, police just arrested him and his other officials, they never charge them to court, and probably they might have been released for "lack of evidence". And where is the money recovered? police never told us any money recovered but just parade. That money is possibly robbed to fund some politician re election bid and the "boys" are just used to gather the money.Hope you are adding 2+2 together to make 2. Now they are seriously fighting the case to be transferred to kwara state so that they can eventually kill the case. Only God knows how much have exchanged hands in this indictment, only God knows. who ever is playing politics with this case and making money from it illegally, may the spirit of those who killed in the robbery hunt them and their families. If you believe this country, as it stands, can ever get better, you are wasting your time. 19 Likes 1 Share |

KingThreatzz: The real question is did police apply best practices in investigation and prosecution? All the evidence the police alleged need to prosecute the case is on social media, they have no surprises to pull in court, why won't they argue not guilty. Instead of acquiring rock solid evidence, preserve it and deposit it in court, they will push/interrogate/torture you for confession and then present you to social media, so that you will know that they are working. A smart lawyer, who knows his onions, will simply enter court and beat the prosecution. By the time they are done, the police always look stupid at the end of the day.... 1 Like 1 Share |

This is Nigeria where there is no true justice. Rev King was sentenced to death yet he is stil in prison impregnating female prison warden officers. After months of his arrest Evans has even turned to a celebrity in detention. |

Borderless: Oga, governorship has immunity. That's why EFCC could not take Fayose to court untill his tenure was over. If Ganduje loses the election, he would be investigated by EFCC. That's why he wants to win at all cost to buy himself a lot of time untill then. Let the immunity clause be removed first 3 Likes |
