With so many smartphones available on the market, Nigerians want something that truly stands out from the crowd and not just poorly executed copies of innovative brands! The new Tecno Camon 11 Pro bears a striking resemblance to the Huawei nova 3i that was released a few weeks ago in Nigeria and a while back in other countries. The design, camera and even back gradient appear very similar and honestly Tecno’s Camon 11 Pro is just a disappointing copy of the Huawei nova 3i. Also noticeably similar is the shape of the Tecno Camon 11 Pro. Although the smartphone is supposedly lighter than the Huawei nova 3i, it mirrors the latter and it’s obvious not much detail was put into its craftsmanship. For example the exterior of the Huawei nova 3i is made with glass and has a metal mid-frame while the Tecno Camon 11 Pro appears to be plastic. The key selling point for Tecno seems to be its lower price point to the Huawei nova 3i however as the saying goes, be careful not to be penny wise and pound foolish. With that being said, the Huawei nova 3i comes at a higher price at N105,000 against the Tecno Camon 11 Pro at just N79,500 which many of us may not be able to afford but the reviews say it is worth every penny. Word of advice Tecno, work on perfecting your craft to trump your competitors rather than copying them and failing miserably. They do see imitation is the best form of flattery.

there's nothing wrong with copying. considering the price, I think Camon 11 pro is better. it's only on nairaland you see people clamouring for high end specs. the average Nigerian just want to access their social media accounts, take pictures and do some little browsing. most using iPhone X don't even know 70% of it's functions. I've never used a tecno phone before but I might try the camon 11 if I don't see better phones in it's price range in the next few months 2 Likes |

This is the most stupid rant I've ever seen here. There's literally millions of android phone makers using this exact form factor. This is not an attempt to copy Huawei but clearly to copy the iPhone x as most Android makers have done. You talk about Tecno releasing their phone just weeks after huawei's nova but u should know that the process of designing and producing a phone takes almost a full year so even though their release dates were pretty close, Tecno probably started working on this phone 6months ago or even more so your argument is not only stupid but invalid. Just to be clear I totally hate the notch designs so I don't really care for either of these phones here. 3 Likes |

IPhone ain't the first brand to have a notch on their phones, in fact notch has been in existence since around 2006 from Motorola. The only thing you can say is that Apple made the notch design popular by implementing it on their iPhone X. Apple is just like an hype man , they make things popular and at the same time, they make it look unique. Don't ever have that feeling that they are the first to use the notch design |

Maxcoded:When I refer to them copying apples design it goes beyond the notch. Notice the camera arrangement as well as the glass-like finish at the back. These are purely just apple mimics. While you're right that apple acts as a hype man for these already existing features, it's also safe to say that the inspiration of these modern day notch phones is almost purely from the iPhone x 2 Likes |
