Hello house, can I pay a visa appointment fee using mobile app/ internet banking? If yes, please how do I go about it? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Adhheir: 8:12am On Dec 01, 2018 |
jerrypeacelinks:Yeah you can, pay through your mobile app and go print the receipt on the online platform, I take it you're talking about GTB mobile app and GTB internet platform. 1. Log on to your mobile app 2. Goto payments and locate visa fees 3. Follow the prompts and input accurate information 4. Confirm visa fees payment (they'll deduct the fee from your account) 5. Log on to ibank.gtbank.com with your login details 6. Click on travel [airline tickets, visa fees and hotel] 7. Click on US visa fees on the drop tray 8. You'll be able to view your transaction history 9. Print receipt (it'll come as a PDF) Cheers 7 Likes |

Jpoppins: Honestly, you would be nervous! But you have to make a conscious effort to conquer that after you say your first words to the VO. A very good transcript is useless if the delivery on the D-day is poor. So ask yourself, how much do you want this? See this as the only opportunity to convince the VO that you're a genuine student. When you understand the gravity of your appointment at the embassy/consulate, your nervousness has got to disappear. On the other hand, you can decide to pretend that the interview isn't a big deal and maybe you'll feel better. I wish you the very best dear! 2 Likes |

Jpoppins: Yes it is absolutely okay to be nervous. It is part of their job to make you nervous (if you already are not) and steal your feelings. To find reasons to not let you get the visa or to find out what your true intentions are with couple of more questions. This happened to me couple of months back while I was applying for a tourist visa. After passing all the security check I was standing in a line and could hear every conversation between the interviewer and the applicant. I did not have well-prepared answers to common questions (as some friends suggested what could be asked) so I began to think of some. To make things worse, I noticed that most people in front of me were already denied the visa stating immigrant reasons or so. Now it’s my turn. I was already nervous with lost hope, as visa officer taking my interview had already denied 5 people in a row. My thinking… I could be sixth. So the conversation went like this Officer: What is your name? Me: My name is … Officer asked about other personal informations. And… Officer: What do you do for a living? Me: I work in a company called LogPoint. We have a head office in Denmark and a development branch is in Nepal. Officer: How long have you been working there? Me: 5 years Officer: What does your company do? Me: We develop a SIEM solution. Officer interrupting me… Officer: What solution? At this point of time I was nervous. I should not have said the acronym. or should have said more clearer but I already did the mistake Me: It’s SIEM… the security incident and event management thing (seeking the response… to which he just nooded) Basically we are into information security and we develop a product that helps in analysis of security incidents. (Maybe I could have said something better… but this is all that came to my head at that time) Some other question regarding past travel and reasons… And Officer: Why do you want to visit the United States? Me: To take part in the conference … (As I was going to attend a Conference) Officer: Can I see your conference participation and confirmation letter? Me: (I had carried bunch of documents so couldn’t locate that particular one upfront… It took me 10 seconds to find) I handed him the letter. Along with some other supporting documents. Seeing me take some time to hand over the documents Officer: Are you nervous? Me: A bit, yes. Officer: Don’t be. It’s part of our job to get you nervous. Me: Just smiled After checking my documents and after about 30 seconds … Officer: Your request for visa has been approved. Please collect it after a week time. Me: Thank you… and left the room. You are are afraid and nervous because of your perception of the interview. You think about it as a MUST! That is wrong. Free yourself from the belief that you could be denied and that it will hurt you a lot. Your present fear also shows fear of tomorrow--that what if what had happened to some people here happens to you. American visa is not do or die. I advie you to stand stand in front of the mirror and watch yourself as you conduct the interview. Ask yourself the questions and answer them. What is the expression on your face? If this is your first time, the fear may go in with you; however, if you have prepared very well as you have said, you should be able to deliver well--even under the "pressure of what may be." aywhy93: Computer science / IT courses in the US in now open to all students irrespective of academic background. Most schools want diverse perspectives in the classes this days and coupled with the increase in IT jobs they usually accept most applicants as much as their class could take. I myself had my bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering but am currently doing masters in Computer Information systems The issue you would encounter is in funding/GA. Most GA you would receive before getting to campus would require you to tutor or assists the professors in one way or the other, and you might not be considered for such positions because you have not taken courses in computer science / IT. Nevertheless, if you have funds to cover one session, you can go ahead and apply. You will surely get admitted for Computer science. You can even apply for computation based IT programs like maths & statistics, analytics etc. Some of this courses are now being done under Computer science. I hope this helps you Cheers 8 Likes |
