In constructing a handpump borehole, the first step as usual in any borehole drilling project is to conduct a geophysical survey first.

The geophysical investigation should be focused at getting a suitable point where good aquifer can be hit at a shallow or medium depth. Usually below 50m (165ft).

The installation should not go to a depth more than 30m (99ft) for it to be very effective with minimal jacking

After the geophysical investigation, the best point is drilled. The drilling should be properly completed and flushed with compressor or pumped out with Ac pump. To make the water clean on time.

3) Plunger from the pump (bushing)
4) The legs

1) A Ditch is made round the borehole for casting of the legs
2) The leg is placed inside the ditch and properly levelled
3) The levelled leg is casted using granites, sand and cement.

After casting, it ll be allowed to stay for like 4 days to dry up before installation continues.

The Plunger is tightened well to the bushing to prevent leakages so as to have a better pressure.

2) Connect the casing to the pump and lower inside the hole
3) Connect casing to casing while lowering
4) Connect the head output to the casing and lower

1) The connecting rods are connected together

3) The plunging chain is set with the well head in a manner to produce a maximum jacking
4) The chain is fastened to the connecting rod after the plate has been put in place
5,6) The chain is fastened to the well head (jacking hand)
7) The borehole is fully ready to serve with full pressure
