BabaOwen:
The Nigerian Army has challenged its Special Forces to prove that they have better training and tactics than terrorists by making the difference and positive impact in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

The Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, gave the charge in Maiduguri on Sunday, while addressing the Armed Forces Special Forces and Army Strike Group deployed in the North-East.

“You are selected specially and deployed here in the North East.

You are given special training and that is why you are called Special Forces.

“I am here to tell you that you have a great job to do and you must do it properly.

“You are deployed in the North-East to make a difference because of your special training.

If there will be any challenge in terms of capacity, I believe you will fill that gap and you have all it takes to do that.

“If you apply the training that you are given, we all have cause to be proud to belong the armed forces of our great country,’’ Buratai said.

He warned them against exhibiting cowardice, saying “we do not have time for the chicken-hearted, the cowards.

“You all must brace up and be brave.

We have done the greatest job so far in the North-East; the greatest in terms of degrading the terrorists.

“We are better trained, better equipped.

We know tactics better than them and what is remaining for us is to dominate everywhere and dominate our areas of responsibilities.

“We must dominate the whole of the North-East.’’

He added that “the terrorists must no longer be allowed the freedom to move about and commit heinous crime and escape.

“They must be dealt with squarely.

We must say no to their vain and invalid threats.

“Henceforth, there should be no dull moment in our operations.

There should be no gap, but make a difference.’’

A soldier on duty is not supposed to part ways with his rifle. This is a war theatre, yet you see these soldiers holding a yena instead of their rifles. These guys are not well trained.

Later u will hear we were caught unawares....

Sorry i was replying to prolog
At a certain point you are aware the soldiers are at least a mile to two miles behind the front lines ?
you are also aware that at this point they are using drones for aerial surveillance ?
you are also aware they have a tank with one in the chamber and are on red alert but they have look outs right ?
Let us not continually make derogatory comments about our soldiers because of recent setbacks.
Right now the NA have been fighting since Sunday/ Monday (December 3,4,and 5 Our boys have been fighting off/ on for 36+ hours straight off/ on @ Malamfotori.
Try working on your job for 36 hours off/on.
let us be considerate
we have our difference , we see when they fail because of social media, we only see the tip when they succeed,
there are at least two possible locations where heavy fighting is likely in the next few days.
May God be with these young men and women.

Stop making excuses, they were very badly trained and they showed it in that photo, in training in the french foreign legion, just try to separate yourself from your famas for 2 seconds ... You would get the punishment of a lifetime. It is supposed to be a natural reflex for a soldier. Your best friend is your rifle, your rifle is your baby, don't ever part ways with it so long you are on duty. And every soldier in a warfront is on duty. Boko Haram is not going to wait for them to take a cup of tea, take pictures with yenas and crocodiles and then ask them if they are finally ready and well rested to start slugging it out. Look at the special forces guys, they wouldn't leave their guns, not even for a meeting with the coas.

Buhari needs to fire buratai and hand him over to efcc. Buratai is an unqualified thief trying to pretend he can lead an army. Buratai's office should be located in the heart of sambisa if he were to keep his job.

How fickle and ungrateful we are, Buratai that has done more for the Army than the last four Chiefs put together, I agree it is time for him to go not because he is unqualified as you said but because we need fresh blood, and new ideas.

Besides if he is unqualified, what will you attribute his earlier success to? Luck?

@POLITICSNGR

Below is a statement from the Nigerian Army made available to PoliticsNGR;

1. The Nigerian Army (NA) has noted with dismay, the rantings of one Timi Frank on Daily Post online publication of 4 December 2018, where he alleged that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai were responsible for Deji Adeyanju’s re-arrest by the Nigerian Police Force(NPF). This is obviously one of the series of smear campaigns that have been directed at the NA and particularly the person of the COAS by misinformed and ill meaning Nigerians.

2. An audacious fib of this magnitude must have either been borne out of willful intent to forment trouble or of a malicious intent to malign the person of the COAS. Otherwise, any reasonably informed Nigerian need not dig too deep to ascertain the true reasons for Deji Adeyanju’s arrest by the NPF. Besides, the NPF has the rights and powers to take up such responsibilities of fighting cyber related offences and issues relating to inciting disturburances in the country.

3. Having noted the foregoing, it would suffice to add that the NA is not ignorant of all the recent false information concerning NA Operations been peddled by @adeyanjudeji on twitter as well as abusive and libelous outbursts of the same handle on the person of the COAS. To this end, the NA is already in consultation with its advocates for appropriate legal actions to be taken in accordance to the rule of law.

4. Furthermore, the NA wishes to dissociate itself from the current self-induced predicament of Deji Adeyanju in the hands of the NPF, which is being sensationalized by his promoters. Such sponsors of Deji Adeyanju are advised to keep the NA and its leadership out of their self-seeking, cheap popularity on social media.

5. Finally, the NA wishes to once again utilize this opportunity to appreciate the goodwill and support of well-meaning Nigerians. The NA will continue to remain dedicated in carrying out its constitutional roles, despite any form of smear campaign by detractors. You are to please note and disseminate same through your various media channels."

LOCAL PRODUCTION: NIGERIAN ARMY PARTNER INTERPRID INT’L AFRICA SERVICES

The Nigerian Army has pledged to collaborate with Intrepid International Africa Services. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, made the promise today, Wednesday, 5th December 2018, when he received the management of the organisation which was led by Senior Vice President, Vice Admiral DJ Ezeoba (rtd), a former Chief of the Naval Staff, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Lt Gen Buratai further indicated the interest of the Nigerian Army to partner with the company, saying it is a well-designed concept required to encourage local production in the defence and security sector. He also added that such partnership would boost Nigeria’s economy.

Earlier in his remark, the Senior Vice President of the company, Vice Admiral DJ Ezeoba (rtd), thanked the COAS for receiving his team, adding that they identified the gap in providing logistics support to the Nigerian military that hamper the successful prosecution of some operations.

He also commended the Nigerian Army in particular, for leading the counter insurgency operations in the country, maintaining that the collaboration would further enhance the maneuver capability of the Nigerian Army and further enhance the capacity of the Nigerian Army in terms of the production of military equipment. This he added would encourage economic development in Nigeria.

The visit was witnessed by some Principal Staff Officers and Directors of the Army Headquarters.

You are please requested to disseminate this information to the public through your medium.
Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Nigeria needs to buy six more Alpha jets as interim capability to prosecute COIN before the NAF completely changes in 2020 with JF17S and Super Tucanoes.
Alpha jets are currently our most reliable, most familiar platform.
