FOR A MOMENT, CLAUDE AND ZARA STOOD IN A FACE OFF.., BOTH GLARING AT EACH OTHER.......
"Am not insinuating that Zara......"Claude replied breaking the silence...

"Good... "Zara said and shift her gaze to the maids..... "I see everyone is denying,no one wants to confess what she did... "

Just then the door banged open....
The maids and the guards shivered when they saw the men standing at the door.....

"Your Majesty.... "Ted said walking close to Claude...... "The Chief have demanded for the maids that cook the food to be brought before him... "

The maids shudder, fear ripping through them....
Claude shift her gaze to them, she saw the fear in thier eyes....

Zara sniff and a tear dropped from her eye.... "Look at the murderers...."Zara said shapily.... "Take them away please... "

"The maids are going nowhere.... "Claude said

Ted swallowed... "Am sorry your majesty, but the chief wants them.... "

"I said the maids are going nowhere....., convey that to Carlos.... "

"Are you the one... ?Zara ask with furrowed brows....

Claude curl her lips but didn't reply her...

"Are you the one who murdered my son's father......? Zara ask furiously

Claude quickly wipe out the tear that was dropping from her eye..., Fires of fury and hatred tinge with tears were smoldering in her small narrowed eyes as she weighed the pros and cons of the various and creative means available to her for exposing her....

"Did you do it....? Zara yelled....

fury, torrent of rage, tiny bubbles of froth formed at the corners of Claude's mouth, face contorted with the enormity of Zara venomous outburst.......,she wanted to yelled back, but her hand was quick to respond...., with furrowed brows, she slapped her hard on her right cheek...

Zara wince as the slap resounded in her ears.., with furious eyes, she turn to face her.., inclined to hit her back when the guards rushed to her......

"Get her out of my sight..... "Claude raved...

Facial muscles twitching..,Zara glared at her..., her whole body rigid with fury, hands clasped,clenched fist....,she freed herself from the guards and furiously walk away......

Ted nib his lip as he watch her walk away.., then he turn his gaze to Claude.... "We're still waiting for your permission..... "

Claude look at the three maids who were shivering in their knees, she felt pity for them, they were innocent,she knew for a fact they were....., she sniff and face Ted..... "Take them... "

"Your Majesty..."One of the maid shouted..

"Your majesty please... "Rachael said

More tears drop from Claude eyes,just then she left them....

The maids shouted as Bobby and the rest of the thugs drag them to the car........

James stepped into the shower, toes flinching as they touched the chilled ceramic floor. His mind was in shreds; he wasnt sure how to get that picture out of his mind. He turned the dial, The pipes moaned like a horror movie ghost before spitting out a dribble of cold water. old and metallic, releasing thousands of lukewarm drops, darkening his hair and trickled down his back. His eyes fell closed over and over, each time showing him the images of their n*ked bodies like photographs......

He was deeply in love with her now, he wonder how he'll be able to forget if she eventually gets married to his uncle a month from now....

He'd manage to convince his uncle that the wedding date should be moved forward.... He knew he needed to think things straight, to leave her alone and stopped thinking about her.., their epic sex on the chair creep into his head..., he has had her even before his uncle does and that memory taunt him, it was a mistake.., a mistake his body and probably hers craved for but still it was a mistake..., a mistake he has no idea how to correct or not repeat anymore..., he stills wants her.., his body, his mind, every part of him still yearns for her.....

He raise his face up and the water pours down on his face like a bullet hitting it's target, it drips by his side, as his mind sink deep into thoughts ife her and foggy fantasies and desires, pricking his mind with false dreams. The sensation of the steamy water dragged him into another level of his thoughts ; it took his mind of things. All the things he honestly don't care about except things about her. His mind swirls, and it's like he was standing under an everlasting waterfall. Ever so beautiful, but it can never last, he know that now.....

As the car engine sung to the road of the mansion, Kess relished the roaring winds that twirled whistled in his ears....,he bit his tongue and slow down the vehicle when he got to the gate of the mansion...., the thoughts of Sonia creep back into him, a raw feeling of slight annoyance pricked him, he knew for a fact she left because she didn't want him to get into trouble but it wasn't her decision to make, it was his choice to keep her.. Make her stay..., how can she leave with just a note to him...,the thought of never seeing and hearing from her again triggered more vexation into him..., he slammed the steering and bit his lips again almost hard that he wince......

He exhales, nerves sinking in, he quickly hum and a man on security uniform came out through the gate.....
He puff and lean his hand on the car door as the man walked towards him.....

"Inspector Kess...."He said showing his badge...... "I want to see Mr Ferico Carter.... "

Without objection, the man quickly went in and opened the gate....

Kess gear up and quickly drove in.., his eyes wandering in the compound, he rode towards the car log...

He parked the car and killed the engine....

He came out from the car, his eyes glued on the designs and beautification of the mansion..., he scoffs, he relate to himself that whoever Ferico Carter was, he was a rich man....

His mind brood over what Sonia had told him, she stayed in Ferico Carter's house..., he wonder why a man as Ferico Carter will accept Sonia to stay with her... He was inclined to find out...

With this thoughts, he trot towards the entrance of the mansion.....

His eyes twitched when he saw the thugs on suit, standing at every corner of the mansion, each on dark sunglasses....., the thugs, the gargantuan format of the house makes him wonder who Ferico Carter was.....

"Inspector Kess.... "He said showing his badge to the security men standing by the entrace of the house......... "I will like to see your boss... "

The security men glanced at each other....

"A minute inspector... "one of the security men said and went in..

Kess jaw dropped..., he sniff and wipe the button line of his nostrils......

It didn't take long before the security man came back....
"Follow me... "The guard said...

With questions bubbling up in his head Kess followed him inside....

"Mr Carter will soon be with you... "The security man said.... "If you need anything,just ring the bell there"he pointed.... "someone will attend to you... "

"Am fine thank you... "Kess replied sitting on the chair closer to him..

He watched as the security man went back to his position...

His eyes roamed round the house...., he nib his lips, shaking his head at everything that interest him...., just then his eyes met a photograph in the wall..., he stood up, shocked.....

He walked closer to the photograph...., he has seen the person in the picture,just then it hit him... It was the prince..., the lost prince....

Doubting his thoughts, he walk back to the chair wondering if the person in the picture was Ferico Carter....

It didn't take long before he heard footsteps clattering on the staircase....., he raise his head towards the direction......

A bombshell of prostration wrecked his heart as he took a closer look at the person clattering down from the stairs......,he quickly look at the picture, and then at the person.......

"Inspector You look like you've seen a ghost..... "Pious said when he finally got down....

Kess quickly bounce back to his senses...., the resemblance could just be a coincidence....

"Ferico Carter..... "Pious said shaking hands with him.....

"Inspector Kess.... "

"So inspector, to what do i owe this visit.. ?Pious ask sitting down opposite him.... "Because if you ask me, am a respecter of the law so it really pricks me when a police shows up in my doorstep.... "

Kess grunts....., then he reclined his back to the chair.... "It's a good thing you respect the law sir...., rich people take themselves to be bigger than the law.... "

"I thought the law doesn't favour anyone.... ,the law is king..., break it and face the consequences...."

"Right to the core, but you know as people believe, they say the law has long arms...., but no, the law doesn't, that's why corrupt rich men trample upon it but it's always every day for the thief,one day for the owner... Amongst all these... The law is still mightier....."

"Aren't the upholders of the laws the corrupt ones....?

Kess scoffs.... "Corruption have a way of breeding people.... ,it's like a disease that needs to be stopped at all cost.... "

"Very well then.... "Pious said adjusting himself.... "Why don't we go to the business of why you're here..., i wouldn't want to waste the time of one of the upholders....."

Kess jut his chin wondering how to start.... "I learnt you took a girl name Sonia in.... "

Pious swallowed hiding his discontent for Sonia.... "Yes, until i heard she tried to kill one of the chiefs......"

"With a gun, a gun i supposed she got from you.... "

"Me...!, was that what she said....?

Kess sigh....."No..., just a guess.... "

Pious jaw dropped...... "I heard she escaped.., has she been seen....?

"No....., but if you permit me to say this, i will love to know why you took her in.... "

Pious scoffs... "Are you seeking permission or you're asking....?

"I guess i just ask.... "

Pious snort, his mind recalling when his mother came in with her....,he has always had the feeling that she was going to be trouble and she turned out to be one....."Well inspector,if she told you i took her in, she must have told you how we met..... "

Kess flexed his fingers..., for a moment he just sat looking at his face and recalling the lost prince face..., it was never comfirmed the lost prince died...., just then it hit him..., two chiefs are dead and they died after Ferico Carter came to town..., who will want revenge other than the boy who lost his father to death by the cold hands of the chiefs and was accused of killing him....., why would a man of his status build a mansion like this in Akpatu.. A stranger.... Something was definitely going on.., the resemblance was too much to be a coincidence..........

He swallowed as his words rang in his head.... "She didn't, i thought you could tell me.... "

"Well inspector, i met her in the street..,she was a beautiful girl, so i stopped to take a look.., i brought her here to my house.....

Kess sat up...."That's dubious ..., on the day she was rescued from Carlos basement where she was locked and chained for five years..., the late king's brother came to take her and the queen..., how come you met her on the street...?

"You ask me how i met her, am just explaining.., why should a man of ley status be lying about how he met a woman..., a woman whose captor, who had locked and chained her for five years was arrested and released after a few days..... "

"You're diverting Mr Carter..... "Kess countered
