BabaOwen:
Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have successfully repelled Boko Haram insurgents’ attack at Jakana village in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the insurgents coordinated the attack at Jakana barely 12 hours after the troops repelled them in Bama and Rann communities.

Although there were no official comments either by the military and government agencies, reports said the gallant troops engaged the insurgents in gun duel to repel the attacks.

A competent source at the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), disclosed that heavily armed insurgents attacked Jakana at about 8 p.m. Friday.

The source disclosed that the troops, with support of other security personnel and members of the vigilante, engaged the criminals in serious gun battle which lasted for over an hour.

It said that the troops routed the insurgents and many of them escaped with gun shot wounds.

The vigilante fighter added that there were no casualties on the part of the troops and members of the public in the attack.

It will be recalled that gallant troops had earlier repelled attacks by the insurgents at Bama and Rann in the early morning hours of Friday.

The insurgents burnt houses and a Malnourishment Treatment Centre, operated by an NGO at Rann community.

The military authorities are yet to comment on the incidents. (NAN)

These attacks are getting way too much, the NA authority as to change there method of prosecuting these war. We av to take the fight to BH, instead of being on the defensive side. How many attacks have we repelled in the last two weeks, over 10

CAS CONDUCTS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO KANO, COMMISSIONS MODULAR THEATRE AT 465 NAF HOSPITAL

In compliance with presidential directives to move to operational areas in the Northeast and Northwest of the country, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, yesterday, 8 December 2018, undertook an operational visit to Kano to assess the levels of preparedness of the 403 Flying Training School (403 FTS) and 465 Nigerian Air Force Hospital (465 NAFH) to support operations in both theatres. At the 403 FTS, the CAS inspected ongoing reactivation work on 3 NAF L-39ZA aircraft, which is aimed at boosting NAF’s training capacity while also enhancing its air power capability for Counter Insurgency (COIN) operations in the Northeast and anti-armed banditry operations in the Northwest.‬ The CAS‪ also commissioned the newly equipped state-of-the-art Modular Operating Theatre at 465 NAFH. The theatre, which is the first of its kind in Northwest Nigeria, was completed in furtherance of the CAS’ resolve to ensure personnel and their families have access to world-class medical services.

Speaking during the visit, the CAS restated NAF's commitment to providing its personnel and their families with comprehensive healthcare facilities for enhanced wellbeing. He therefore urged personnel and their families to take maximum advantage of the facilities which had been provided for their benefit. He noted further that, in line with the NAF tradition of giving back to its host communities, the facility would also be open to the good and hospitable people of Kano State. The CAS also reaffirmed the commitment of the Service to periodically reach out to surrounding rural communities to provide them with the much needed preventive healthcare services, including health education.

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted that his vision for the NAF, upon assumption of office, was to develop a highly professional force for the effective, efficient and timely employment of Air Power in response to Nigeria's national security imperatives. This, he noted, required having the right structure, equipment, manpower disposition and welfare support system. He acknowledged that the current Federal leadership had facilitated all of these enhancements, thereby empowering the Service to more effectively carry out its constitutional roles. He therefore seized the opportunity to thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his continued support to the NAF, which had led to the acquisition of 18 brand new aircraft in the last 3 years; with another 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft and 6 Agusta 109 Power Helicopter Gunships being expected from the United States of America and Italy, respectively. The CAS noted, in particular, that, the NAF has been able to embark on several infrastructural projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of personnel to enable them focus on assigned tasks. These included the establishment of new schools and upgrade of existing ones, provision of new office and residential accommodation in units across the country as well as the establishment of 2 new Reference Hospitals in Bauchi and Port Harcourt, in addition to the establishment of 4 new Cancer Screening Centres and upgrade of medical facilities in NAF Hospitals nationwide. The CAS remarked that the Modular Theatre being commissioned was another of such value additions. He pledged that the NAF would continue to strive for excellence in fulfilling its constitutional roles, in collaboration with sister Services, to provide the necessary security as Nigeria marches on towards greater peace and prosperity.

Speaking earlier, the acting Chief of Medical Services, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Mohammed Shaibu, stated that the completion of the Modular Theatre was only made possible due to the dogged determination of the CAS. He noted that the project, which was started about 6 years ago, was neither fully completed nor equipped and therefore could not be put to use. He noted however, that in view of the strategic importance of the hospital in support of COIN Operations in the Northeast, the CAS directed that the Theatre be completed, equipped and put to immediate use, so that injured personnel evacuated from the frontlines could be stabilized and treated in the hospital. The Modular Theatre, which comprises a reception, lecture and recovery rooms, offices and 2 operating suites, is equipped with modern anesthetic machines, operating tables, theatre lamps, C-arm machines and operating microscopes, among others.

Away from offensive weapons and so. When do we get serious about buying hardware and equipment for Nigerian army engineers, nor do we hear anything or rarely see photos of our Army engineers.
I'd rather this Corps get extensive investments in equipment and training as they can make a lot of difference on FOBs lest you start losing expensive hardwares from being overrun by insurgents time over again.

We need uparmored tractors/excavators, base defence apparatus, etc as much as we need gunships and tanks. We're struggling because we are building isolated bases without securing our flanks. With our stop-go offensives, the consequences are these unending counterattack/raids on our frontline bases.

Bidex111 learn to ignore.

I enjoy the photos you share here, and it'll be a shame if you allow some of these distractions take away something you like doing.

After the Metele attack disaster, i decided to take a break from all military posting, the system doesn't want to change despite my fervent hope to the contrary.

However, that's my decision. Looking back the last 2 pages of this thread, i see alot of mudslinging, my advice to you is, you ignore them and watch it fiddle away.

I've been posting military related content for self satisfaction for a very long time, and it's something i truly enjoy. Abi dem dey pay you to post pictures for nairaland?

If anyone has made it there life's work to be posting irrelevant content and insults at you here, let it be known that you are responsible for bringing joy to that person's empty life, so let them continue just ignore it.

I've been accused of a lot of things in the past, it would continue now and possibly into the future, so if i bring your life meaning through that, by all means continue. grin cool cool

I post images because i enjoy doing it, in fact the photo of the Nigerian Special Forces Vehicle, i bought that picture for 15,000 naira, that's around 43 US dollars from Sodiq Adelakun. I spent that much money because i enjoy my leisure of sharing photos, not for any financial gain or anything.

I'm glad the photo has been shared, even Africaken shared it on twitter.

So my man, no bother yourself dey respond to incitive or abusive comments, it won't take anything from you. Just continue sharing battlefield images most of us all enjoy.

One love, peace bruv!

Navy SBS is the oldest. 2006 is correct, seen publicly for the first time in 2010.

Yes, the Navy has, don't know about NAF QRF.

The larger AFSF also has too.

True. The problem is that we don't have a coherent defense plan against Boko Haram. The troops will complain of lack of arms, whereas Boko Haram is mostly equipped with weaponry captured from overrun bases. There is no strategy in place as all the military and political elite is concerned with is making money out of this insurgency.
The whole situation would be funny if it wasn't so tragic.

What proof do you have they aren't the oldest.

From what is on open source our first TRUE SF came from the Navy and it was created 27 Dec,2006

You're the one that should convince us

Indeed. The lives of our soldiers (our sons, daughters, fathers, aunties and uncles ( let us not forget)) is far more valuable than the dubious gains we in fact don’t get from the West by restraining ourselves trying to satisfy their moral qualms.

When I was a kid my dad told me about nigerian army rangers in very elogious terms, I just wonder what happened to them, you never hear about them. They used to be highly respected by all other military officers. Is the unit still active ?
