Instead of the Nigerian govt being overly reliant on the west for these weapons , why can't those weapons be manufactured here ? I'm very curious. Cc omohayek 1 Like |

In Biafra, Africa died. In the heat of war, Biafrans were refining their own oil and manufacturing ojukwu buckets. In peace time after 55 years, Nigeria still imports knockout bangers from china 11 Likes 2 Shares |

urahara:Manufacture advanced weapons in a country where the government can't even properly maintain major roads, and where the average person can't expect reliable power 24 hours a day? How can such a miracle happen? The manufacturing conditions in Nigeria are so bad that even exporting the cheap plastic toys people used to laugh at the Chinese for would be a tremendous step forward. 3 Likes |

Dicon, in Kaduna, started same day, week, month and year as Brazil Defence Industries. See where Brazil is today. Dicon Act gives it Power to do anything to excel but the Nigerian Army plays Politics too much and won't let it. 2 Likes |

It is not just easy to manufacture weapons like that. Weapons require development and such development period could be as high as 15-20 years. Another factor is the cost of development. Such sums are ginormous and Nigeria cannot afford such. So in summary, 1. It requires extensive R & D 2. It is very expensive |

Most of the ak47 refles used by the army currently are made the nigerian military. As for larger arms nigeria dosent have the capacity or infrastructure to manufacture them. Be it finacialy, mentaly or structuraly. It takes years of research and practise.. Most of this arms producing companies abroad are private companies that collaborate with the military of that government.. Morever nigeria dosent have that kind of economy ground. |

dometome: This countries you are talking about are not on the same level with Nigeria. Do you know how much they spend on military research ? Do you know the level of expertise they possess ? Do you know how they are able to find such research ? You think making weapons is like making buns and puff puff. In the financial aspect , france alone has a gdp surpassing that of Africa combined !!! California has a gdp higher than that of west Africa . We can't spend on Military research the same way they do. And meanwhile , this things take a lot of time and a high level of expertise. Last year China made headlines for producing what ? For being able to produce an ordinary ball point pen after 5 years , they had to pump millions of dollars in researching how to make a ball point pen ? Ordinary ball point pen , not to talk of advanced military weaponry . |

Re: Why Can't Nigeria Simply Manufacture Its Own Weapons? by dometome: 10:40pm On Dec 12, 2018 |
urahara:you don't know what you are talking about, Biafra produced some of her own weapons, these include SAMs, which was later uses as surface to surfac missiles, the famous Ogbuna Igwe, and these things were made during the war and blockade. How many heads do the Americans have? Is it nit the same God that created us that created them. He gave all of us brains to solve our problems, but the black man decided to throw away his own. When asked, he says he is not on the same level with the white man. Another thing is the black man is ULTRA jealous. If the Nigerian government had integrated the Biafran army engineeres into the Nigerian army, I am very sure 40 years down the line Nigeria would have been exporting Fighter Jets and Nigeria would have had several nuclear warheads by now. Those countries are not on any higher level, no they are not! They only make use of their heads. |
