It is good to give a detailed and productive answer during interview but one need to say strong points with brevity. It shows confidence...
Your responses are okay but always keep it point blank!

Vandemoo:
Good morning guys, I had my interview today Wednesday 19th, 2018 at the Abuja consulate. I had previously been denied in Lagos in August so this was my second attempt. Before I proceed, I need to state that there are 4 elements to be considered before visa issuance.
1. Acceptance into an accredited school.
2. Possession of sufficient funds.
3. Preparation for course of studies to show if you're a credible student.
4. Presenting intent to leave the US at the end of your studies, i.e you need to display your purpose of travel and overcome the hometies barrier.

Most applicants don't have problems with the first 2 but rather with the last 2.
It's left to you to prove points 3 and 4.

Have it at your mind that your responses should address how to fix a problem in Nigeria.
Know your ds160 like the back of your hand. Prepare like there's no God, pray like you never prepared.

This is my transcript.

Me: Good morning.
VO: Responds, pass me your passport and i-20
VO: Why did you choose Bleep University.
Me: I chose Bleep University because it would help me gain more research and technical knowledge in seeking ways to reduce material and structural failure in made in Nigeria products that have engineering applications...
VO: What was your undergraduate in?
Me: Bleep
VO: From which school?
Me: Mentioned
VO: What will you specialise in?
Me: Composites, because there is no one single engineering material that meets a general application, so the knowledge of composites enable you to engineer materials to meet each specific function.
VO: Where do you work?
Me: I work in Bleep as a project analyst, I analyse, manage and execute projects and I also conduct needs assessments based on the service level agreement between Bleep and their clients.
VO: I can see you have a graduate assistantship, did you apply for it, run me through the process of how you got it.
Me: I told the school about my research work, they evaluated it, and because of the quality of the research, I was granted the assistantship.
VO: Who will be paying the balance?
Me: My aunt
VO: What does she do?
Me: She is into sales of building materials.
VO:What do you intend to do with this degree, your post-graduation plans?
Me: I plan to return to Nigeria and seek gainful employment in policy making institutions like the Standards Organisation of Nigeria where I can contribute to making policies that would help improve research and development in Nigeria.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Do you have any relative in the US?
Me: No
VO: Your visa has been approved, passes white paper & the rest is history.

Congratulations I tap from your success

Congratulations. First as regards repeating yourself, dont feel any type of way..most people if not all go through that stage in the US. Just try to talk gently and pronounce your words clearly. Never be tempted to speak like an American, you will make it worse. With time your words usage will change and people will understand you clearly. As regards accommodation, try to check craiglist, you should see some sublease with contact info. Streamline your search om craiglist to your location. Good luck
hi Mr femi. Please I need your advice. My appointment date is 14th January 2019, my resumption date on i20 is 7th January (for orientation). Classes start on the 14th, do I have hope with an extension letter?

Im also in the same shoe as you are, though mine was st.cloud. i got an appointment date for 14th but im suppose to be in the states by 7th. Requested an expedited appointment and it got denied even tho this is my first interview. I had to ask for an extension letter from my sch and the furthest date they extend for me was till 13th. Im left with the option of waiting for a closer date to pop up or defer to summer or fall.

Hello Eporshe, sorry for your denial. Please how can I get in touch with you, I am new here I don't know how to DM or anything like that. Pls I need some info from you.
Eporshe:
Guys, i was denied visa at Lagos embassy despite my full tuition waiver and 1,086 dollars monthly stipends.

Here is the transcript.

Me: Good morning
VO: frowning

VO: your pass and I-20
Me: pass

After typing for what I believe is my service
Is service number, he then ask why do I want the school

VO: So why WIU?
Me: Aside the fact that this school is known for its groundbreaking research in Aquatic biology, which attracts me, I have been offered a Teaching assistantship with full tuition waiver and monthly stipend; Also, WIU is located along Mississippi River in moline, where the school has been able to carry out series of research on aquatic ecosystems protection and fisheries management control. Which is in line with my research interest. I have also been offered a lifetime academic opportunity to engage in aquatic research and have international university teaching level experience, which will enhance my chance to continue to the post of assistant lecturer at university of Lagos.

VO: but your uncle will paying your deficit
Me: yes with my mum.

Vo: Have you traveled before,
Me: No

Then he typed and gave me blue paper.

What would you advise to reapply or differ and pls what's the best possible date I can get.
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 8:35pm On Dec 19, 2018
Do you have to use "aside from the fact that..." to make the point? This line of words seem to be on almost every transcript on this thread. Please be original. Be creative. Craft your own response. Any student that send me his/her transcript from this moment will have to rewrite that section if I see it there. Instead of "aside from the fact that"--which consular hears often, can you use, "More importantly", "In addition to this", "More so",. "Also", "Other than that", "Alongside this", etc.

A student will be dropping her approved visa transcript soon (for visa approved this week). There's another guy who got approved late November I am still waiting for his transcript to be posted. More transcript of approved visa still coming; the embassy at both location are still issuing, and you too can still get your visa. Keep hope alive!

Those who have been denied should brace up. Re-firing immediately isn't always the key to getting the visa. Impatient has delayed as many dreams from becoming a reality as negligence and lack of preparation have. If you have been denied, check yourself, check your transcript, and see what can change or boost your chance before you reapply. If you have to defer the admission, do it. You don't have to reapply immediately if things are tight. But follow your heart anyway shocked grin! The student I mentioned above was first denied last year. She waited and reapply this year, and she got it.

Some of you were denied simply because of lack of confidence (yes, lack of confidence and unnecessary fear you secretly nurse because of people you've heard were denied), inability to make eyes contact, inability to converse with the consular smoothly, lack of thorough and cogently convincing transcript, or otherwise (sometimes, this is not the case and it is not your fault at all). Nevertheless, put yourself together very well.

God bless you. If you get money, Nigeria sweet!

Lol, SAT should not be used for testing a prospective graduate student's proficiency, rather a GRE. If I were the one she did that to, I'll use style take her to the cleaners verbally/educate her grin angry.

So all the VO is doing is to be sure you are genuine and she knows too well what each exam is for. In things like this, you need not try outshine her.
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 10:16pm On Dec 19, 2018
Trust me, taking her to the cleaner's shop to educate her on the difference between GRE and SAT would have earned you the visa. I am sure VO would be grateful you teach her something the embassy should have trained her for before accepting the VO job offer.

So says the consular-general. I have interacted with such people in official capacities (in Europe), so I know what I am saying. You gat to get your 2 balls on when cleaning her up. Who is desperate for the visa to the extent where one young girl will be harassing me? The point is know your worth and demonstrate it, she will have no choice than to issue you your visa. Free your mind from mental slavery.

Lol, you're quite funny. You could go ahead and leak her behind in the name of getting approved. If someone asks you a silly question, answer it with confidence that shows that you know what you're doing and you don't take craps. Free yourself from mental slavery. And oh, that's how I treat them in Europe.

Sorry about the delay. The interview was surprisingly short. Is there any background information that might have worked against you like previous denials? Did you apply for MSc or PhD?

You should reapply and stick to the sponsor on your I-20 except he doesn't have enough funds in his account. You will get it next time.

visa delayed at the US consulate in Lagos... i must confess, i find it difficult to understand the reason... i wasn't even asked about any standardized test... below is my transcript....

VO: good morning
Me: good morning (passes passport and i20)
Vo: which school are u going to?
Me: East Tennessee state university
Vo: what course?
Me: Engineering Technology
Vo: what's ur highest level of education
Me: Bsc in Physics
Vo: which year?
Me: 2014
VO: What have u been doing since then?
Me: After my Nysc, i could not get an offer in my field, so i've been teaching since
Vo: Did u get a scholarship?
Me': yes, i was awarded a merit-based scholarship which covers 50% of my tuition
Vo: Did u apply to any other schools?
Me: yes, university of Idaho
Vo: were u accepted?
Me: yes
Vo: so why did u choose ETSU
Me: ETSU has an option in Electronics engineering technology,. I got to know about some of the ongoing research in the department from Dr. Uddin, the graduate coordinator, especially digital signal processing, coordinated by Prof Paul Sims, an expert in the field. And because of my interest in the pursuing a career in communications engineering when i return, i believe it will give me the opportunity to gain world class skills required to make me indispensable in the field.
Vo: who's ur sponsor?
Me: i was awarded a merit based scholarship which covers 50% of my tuition, and my Uncle will be responsible for the rest of the fees
Vo: what does he do?
Me: He owns a company that produces poultry feeds, he also imports trucks into the country
Vo: Do u have his statement?
Me: yes, passes the statement
Vo: (checks the statement for a while, and Returns it
Then types for a while

After some time, prints the blue paper
u almost got this but i think ur bank statement was insufficient. Check the statement urself n do the calculation. Do not give up,hit em again,be sure not to change too much in ur next application, put God in this, and goodluck!

So sorry about your denial dear. Your answers were okay and I will encourage you to try again and maintain consistency. But if I may ask, did you fill your DS yourself all through the times u have applied/ been applying? I asked because if someone else did, maybe they might have mistakenly inputted a travel history for you without you knowing it making most VOs to scroll through the pages of ur passport in search of a visa stamp. More so, I think with regards the question about your sponsor, you should have first stated who your sponsor was FIRST before talking about the funding. Remember the question was about WHO YOUR SPONSOR IS and not if you had a funding.

I have read your transcript over and over and I suspect it's about your response with regards your sponsor. Let us learn to Answer what we are asked FIRST before adding jara or better still leaving it at that

I may be wrong but this is my observation. Next time tell them who your sponsor is first cos VO may wonder, doesn't it mean u wouldn't have schooled or wanted to pursue your studies if u never got funding? Again, my opinion though.

I wish you the best. But please, do not give up.
ur opinion is right, very right. Especially d travel history part.

Good morning house. I had previously been denied last year Spring so left it till this year Spring to reapply again. I want to ask, while filling my new DS160, I changed the two contacts entirely that I filled on the SEVIS contact page column with some other two persons Asides that and my new job position/ responsibilities, which I recently added, there were no much changes to my DS160. Please hope I am safe?

Can someone please tell me why they are denying students study visa?
I went for interview yesterday (19th of December, 2018). I spent like 5-6 minutes (though I fuc...ed up at a point due to fear) with the VO asking me questions and typing. The VO wasn't even looking at me.
They denied a lot of applicants infact all 20-30 applicants (no exaggeration) before me were denied.
What's wrong?

Thanks
