Do you mean the homestudy assessment on qualified.io? Yes it's timed but there's no penalty for taking as much time as you need to complete it.

Just ensure you take every question seriously and submit before the deadline.

Just want to encourage everyone not to relent! And also, there are tons of learning materials out there, just keep knowing more and updating your knowledge. I have also seen quite a number of people feeling like they don't know enough and postpone applying or continuing the recruitment process because they feel they need to learn some more! Please don't do that.

Software dev. is a bit different from conventional education, you hardly get external validation for what you know! The rules are flexible!

Heck I just opened node, CLI and almost all the tools used for the first time in my life when the bootcamp challenge dropped! Never written CSS from scratch before!

Ability to learn fast is key, Google and StackOverflow is your friend. And pay attention to your SOFTSKILLS! Andela's recruitment is an OPEN TEST! What u are graded on is clear from the onset. Goodluck guys!

Avoid these errors by me:

I used an inline JavaScript in my HTML on codepen.io...they frowned at it.

They expect to see HTML, CSS and JavaScript differently...

In ur code, try to do the worst case scenario meaning once you solve a challenge, go the extra mile like if a user tries to add a character or edit your challenge, it should throw up an error.

In all, the interview went well. Prepare to tell stories that relates to andela's epic values...

Nope it's a full time job. Schooling is not allowed. You have to be 100% committed if you want to keep the job. You should also finish your Nysc after school if you plan to apply as a graduate

In front-end web development, HTML and CSS are just like pre-requisites for learning javascript.
You should have above average knowledge of both before u start learning javascript.

I wouldn't advice you to apply for Andela if you are still learning HTML and CSS and haven't started javascript.
You'll just be wasting your time.
Most of what u'll be doing in every assesment stage is Javascript.

If you have applied already, you should just forget about this cycle, the next one and even the one after that.
Dont dump ur learning of HTML/CSS and jump into Javascript because of Andela.
Take your time, continue learning HTML and CSS.
After u have covered them and can design a static webpage with both, then you can start learning javascript.
After u have covered javascript (the core language and the Document Object Model), you can then apply for Andela, while learning backend(NodeJS, SQL, e.t.c).

With good learning resources and studying everyday(at least an average of 4hrs), you can become proficient in Javascript within 4 months.
Taking your time to understand the concepts is very important.
With a good understanding of the concepts, learning any JS framework/ library or even picking up another programming language won't be difficult.
