KillTheZombies: Evans must have kidnapped your brain or you must have being on Mars when Tinubu, Bisi Akande, Aregbe, Fayemi et al were shaping modern Nigerian politics with the extensive meetings and deal-brokering that merged ACN and CPC to produce the APC that would defeat the PDP at the centre and produce the situation today where all SW State are now under APC rule whereas it was only Lagos under OBJ in 1999. Like Ramdeuter said, what exactly is the fate of the main political Parties from the SE today whereas ACN only grew in the SW to become a behemoth ? We know you lot are incapable of giving a Yoruba man credit for anything but we are past the age of caring about that now. We are no longer indulging political correctness. The fact is that that Yorubas now know they are superior to Igbos politucally by far. You can go back to the drawing board so those coming ahead of you can be less sentimental and more politically effective or you can keep denying the obvious. Either approach is no worries for us as you are no threat at all. Even here you have shamefully agreed to be slaves of the North in 2023 because you lack confidence to challenge. We don't take you into account when we make plans these days. You Igbos, politically, are now actually even behing the SS . Go and think about that and stop trying to compete with the Yorubas. 6 Likes 1 Share |

We need to stop creating threads like this. The next southern presidential candidate in 2023 or 2027 for pdp will be igbo. There is a chance if apc is smart that the next southern candidate would be igbo. Another fact is that a Yoruba candidate does not and will not represent southern interests. If any party choose a Yoruba candidate, that party should know southern votes will not go to them, in case that is part of their faulty calculation. Now with those facts that will not change , we can close the thread now. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Oshigun: Your right to lament is sacrosanct, your right to write illegible gibberish is divine, but you will not be allowed to run away from the question. I'll drum the question into your ewedu skull once again..... Tell us how yoruba 'bridge-building' have produced a yoruba presidency since lugard made you Nigerians. We all know how OBJ came to power. So tell us the other yoruba president that came to power by 'yoruba bridge-building' so that we can learn from the 'fountain of yoruba sophistication' and maybe change our corrugated Wichtech roofs to brown zinc roofs in the spirit of 'bridge-building sophistication'. We want to hear proper methodologies not effusive lamentations and emotional rants. We are waiting. 4 Likes 3 Shares

RTSC: Many in the SS, despite what is said publicly, will not even vote an Igbo candidate. Bad market. Being over-sentimental always, in defiance of reality, is the main problem of the Igboman. If you think Nigeria will hand the Igbos power, even in the next 20 years, without any serious rapprochement that will see Igbos gain the trust of others then you delusional. Don't even mention Igbos till 2035 in my opinion. How you guys don't understand that actions have consequences is beyond me. There must be something unigue in the water in your region. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

KillTheZombies: Keep bloviating unintelligently about the past and about a nonsensical fixation over OBJ being 'handed' power as appeasement to Yorubas. This is why you Igbos suck at politics. You play politics of hate and are intellectually lazy. You have zero vision and no power of projection. I guess all your mental effort is invested in your petty trading. If not you will note Yorubas have done very, very well in Nigerian politics post 2011 when the then ACN obliterated the PDP from the SW and neutered the likes of OBJ, OGD et al. Everything the Yorubas have done from that point on has been positive and progressive from merging with CPC to produce APC ,which delivered PMB and a Yoruba VP, to reclaiming the two SW States remaining in opposition hand i.e Ondo and Ekiti. Now , no wise man or neutral observer would bet against a region moving and winning progressively like the SW coming up trumps in 2023 because of the arguments of a fraudulent thinker from a region of political losers and errand boys that the SE has become. Keep watching my friend. 5 Likes 1 Share |

raumdeuter: Bruv , these guys dishonesty no get part 2. SW politics since 2011, led by Tinubu's political masterclass approsch, has been nothing but phenomenal. If they were not such stubborn creatures with zero ability to learn from others then they would be looking to adopt the Tinubu/ACN template to return to political consideration and greater relevance at the centre. Instead they persevere with the redundant approach of trying to wear lipstick and bright colours only at election time to appeal to suitors because of their 'food is ready' approach to politics. Burning bridges for 4 years, insult and fight everyone to a standstill to then be demanding you must be handed this and that and talking about "our turn". Einstein stuff innit. 3 Likes |

I believe PDP will hand the ticket to an Igbo man in 2023, but APC wouldn't, since Ndigbo basically made themselves Buhari and APC's chief opposition since 2015 (and even before that). Far too many bridges have been burnt for any Igbo man to attain any position of privilege in the APC. So I see the 2023 election as a straight shootout between an Igbo PDP candidate and a Yoruba APC candidate. I believe APC would be likely to win that contest, except Buhari's administration ended as a disaster which might motivate voters keen to inspire change to vote out APC. Igbos have to start now though to strategize and rebuild the bridges they've burnt. 2 Likes |

raumdeuter: OBJ did not rise to power by building any bridges. Quit the self deceit. It was a selection process and not a competitive election process in which the founding dons of PDP picked OBJ from ruin and obscurity to install him as PDP's candidate. They also hoped he would be a puppet serving their interests in gratitude to them, but he would turn on many of them. Completing the perfect storm of circumstances that saw OBJ installed, the parties resolved that in the wake of the June 12 saga, Yoruba's "deserved" the Presidency. You're making it sound like OBJ was the genius, chief architect of his rise, when in reality, he didn't do much at all to chart his own ascent. 4 Likes |

Obi1kenobi: OBJ was voted because he had influential people in PDP who trusted him more than Ekwueme That's why they can bring someone from prison and will still beat one of the founding members of PDP badly with such wide margin OBJ's main support base is from the people he worked with and earned their trust early in his military life That is bridge building, If he had gone around insulting everyone like Ibos have been doing who would have voted for him in This was the same reason Falae was preferred to Bola Ige in the AD/APP alliance because BolaIge had some bad sentiments against Northerners 1 Like 1 Share |

raumdeuter: Did Ekwueme go around insulting everyone? The issue is not whether the founding members trusted OBJ or not. The issue is about what he did to win the PDP candidacy. Which was really nothing at all. This was precisely why Ekwueme felt betrayed because he gave more for the PDP cause than OBJ and they still adopted the candidacy of a man who contributed little to PDP. OBJ's PDP candidacy was a coronation influenced by a number of factors, and not an election and had nothing to do with his own strategic brilliance. Tinubu may have the qualities you speak of in "bridge building" but OBJ certainly doesn't. It's why he's leapt from one failed political venture to another since the end of his Presidency. He wouldn't even have served a 2nd term if he had not dropped on his knees to beg Atiku to support his candidacy: a story every Nigerian knows, and a reason he despises Atiku (though he hilariously pretends his resentment of Atiku is driven by purer motives about Atiku's corruption). I wouldn't argue against your claims about Igbo political failures. Just don't present OBJ as an example to emulate. He didn't become President because of his political genius. He became President cos he's the luckiest baastard alive who the founding fathers of PDP decided to crown. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Obi1kenobi: OBJ had a military career where he made many friends in the North and had many loyalists like Shehu Yar'Adua, TY Danuma etc. All these people were influential people in the PDP and him tagging with Atiku, the man who inherited YarAduas PDM movement was seen as the endorsement of the North Ekwueme built PDP when it came to time for delegates election, That was when his stance(right or wrong) against the North in the 1994 constitutional conference was used against him by the Northern delegates while OBJ who has been friendly with the North in the past reaped Below were the words of Ekwueme himself Elder statesman, Dr Alex Ekwueme, has disclosed that he would have been voted into office as the President of Nigeria in the 1999 Presidential election instead of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, but for the role he played in scuttling the ambition of the North for perpetual domination of the South at the 1994 Constitutional Conference. Ekweme said he had led the Southern Nigeria to muzzle the plot to use the conference called by the late General Sani Abacha to entrench the Northern domination, through a new constitution being considered through the conference. He recalled also that the Southern delegates to the 1994 Constitutional Conference fought hard to attain the 13 per cent derivation as against the 5 per cent option proposed by the Northern delegates led by the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua and the late Chief Olusola Saraki. The north, he said, never forgave him for leading the onslaught against it at the constitutional conference, a reason he stated northern politicians preferred to vote in Obasanjo who was brought into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a fresher. Ekwueme made this known in Enugu during the just concluded retreat of the southern leaders on the aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly which was held at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu, earlier in the week. 1 Like |

raumdeuter: I remember that and it is a beautiful observation still pertinent today. Most sensible men use and have fun with side chicks but never leave their wives for them. Igbos are everyone's side chicks who get dumped in the long run and things don't look likely to change because the Igbos we discuss with here daily, if they represents Igbos on the ground, won't be spearheading the return of the ethnic group to political relevance . They are such clueless and intellectually bankrupt thinkers I am ashamed for them. Everything they talk of today is what others will do for them and never what they want to achieve for themselves with deliberate planning and strategy. Kwankwaso will defeat Yoruba for us in 2023. APC Northern "owner" will give the ticket to Igbo in 2023, Buhari's chef has promised Igbo 2023 slot etc, etc. Just really embarrasing and cringeworthy stuff. 2 Likes |

Oshigun: That knowledge had been with us since the days of NCNC, our forefathers witnessed Azikiwe and his Ibo cotravellers take a strong and promising party and wasted it completely. What has been our greatest disadvantage at putting Ibo in its proper place is the expectation that the 3 majorities must maintain parity. Regionalism does not support parity, it encourages competitiveness and excellence. The truncation of regionalism forced us into a tit for tat with a backward race and eventually the introduction of federal character took what was bad and made it even worse. So if we have ten people qualified for a job or school admission we are allowed only three because we must "allow" others space. This wrong sense of "allow" others and the 3 majorities did great damage to Yoruba progress. While we are struggling with that, our top institutions were nationalized and the exclusive top academic instructions in Ife was no longer a Yoruba prerogative. Basically all our universities were flooded by the principle of "allow" others. This also opened up issues of tolerance. So others have rights to occupy our space and completely take over and displace us. Its called citizenship. Political correctness to show tolerance and "allow" others further degraded our customs, ethos, culture and even distabilized the visionary programs started back in the 50s to expand social welfare across Yorubaland. Beyond that, we then started rotational ruling in positions that are occupied by only one person at a time. Now we have the "our turn" complacency. So certain people who should not have been a majority to begin with were the biggest beneficiaries of "allow" , "our turn", programmes. We call North almajiri. No. SE is almajiri! Almajiri is not just about pan handling. There is economic almajiri and political almajiri. This is what Ibo is. They dont know how else to live in Nigeria without "allow", its "our turn". When dis"allow"ed they cry of marginalization. When denied "our turn" they cry of ethnic hatred. They are the biggest beneficiaries of political correctness and affirmative action, not North. I like your take that we are awoke to their game, we will end political correctness and we will end affirmative action. Ibo is the wrong majority in Nigeria. Minorities fear them and dont want to associate with them. Majorities see them as risks and dont want to invest in them. If Ibo does not know how to be a majority in this country they should vacate the responsibility so a new majority can rise to the political challenge and work in balance with the other two to move this country forward for the protection and prosperity of our minority groups. Yoruba, the most Superior race on earth! 1 Like |
