By the way, I no longer rely on internet articles and critic reviews to judge a movie, if that's what you want to know. I critique a movie based on what I see. Before I watched Black Panther, I saw the global media-wide praises everywhere and I was curious to know what the movie had to offer. Unfortunately, I was surprised by what I saw. The movie was simply powered by black power movement and unnecessary black consciousness.

If I have watched an older and superior movie that projected the African culture better, then I have a right to critique a more recent movie doing that. I don't pander to a movie because everyone says it is the best. It is my culture and I deserve to comment on how it is appropriated in movies and the media in general. The new generation of African-Americans that watched the movie were fooled into thinking that is how Africa is. Of course, they have a right to accept whatever the media gives them because they have little or no knowledge of what true African culture is.

Now, savitar posted how marvel campaigned so much to raise money for black panther movie.

Currently, around new years day, marvel spent megabucks to advertise captain marvel on NYC times.
DC don't spend huge mega bucks on campaign the way marvel does. There is no need to debate on this

Hmmmm I enjoyed black panther for the movie it was..... But I still think it's over hyped and nothing really special.... Solid execution though and great direction.

However when it comes to representation, if you are a true African not some African American who only hears of Africans from the media and thinks it one giant safari..... You'll totally hate what Bp did in terms of representation... Saw the movie with some friends.... We all agreed that the hype behind it being finally the representation Africa deserved was total bullshït...
