quote author=123abcclown post=74427913]123abcclwon reporting live from St. John's A lot of us kinda outgrow the thread (I will too soon), but I just feel we all should create time to help one another scale what is in my opinion the most difficult hurdle of this process - the VISA hurdle. I attended orientation today and the number of asians that are resuming school were way more than half (they move together in groups and speak their language at will). Anyways, bottom line is that we Nigerians can and should put conscious effort into helping one another to get TRVs. A little bit about life in Canada may help some of us on the thread make smart decisions about pursuing this whole thing. Because some are actually better of elsewhere, as not everyone's success is tied to Canada. I very importantly have to say a very big thank you to a member of this forum, cocosmite. I reached out to him before I left Nigeria and he has been of tremendous help to me. Brother actually cooked and brought home cooked meal for me at the airport! Allowed me stay in his apartment for three days, and helped me settle in! Some angels live among us people. They breathe air like you and I (some even like girls with big bum-bum ) but they are nothing short of angels. I am really grateful. So I guess we all catch the message, let's help and continue to help one another, keep the cycle going and all. I school at MUN, if you have questions about the school please feel free to ask here and I will answer to the best of my knowledge.[/quote] Congratulations and I hope winter isn't too harsh. I have a few questions about MUN... I applied for a PhD in philosophy for winter 2019 but got a reject. I was communicating with a potential supervisor who seemed impressed by my work and was on the admissions committee. After the rejection, I reached out to him and he stated that I had a good application but there were better applications.... I intended to apply for a Master's instead but I've been a little discouraged. I have applied to other schools though... I already have a Master's in philosophy with a CGPA of 4.3 and BA in philosophy with a CGPA of 4.1. Do you think I should give it a shot? I will appreciate it if you can shed light on what makes a good application for MUN. God's blessings. 3 Likes |

Hi guys. Congrats to those that have gotten approval, and for those of us that are still expecting approvals, may God intervene into our applications and make us have reasons to be thankful at the end(approval). Please is Ukraine also amongst the countries that handle Canadian study permit applications, from Nigeria? |

My application has been approved. Here's my timeline, and a summary of the documents I submitted. Online application Application: 24th of July Biometric: 25th July Biometric receipt confirmation: 27th July. I sent several messages to London, but kept getting 'your application is actively being reviewed' Sent London immigration the 4th message on 15th December, exactly 20 weeks, 1 day after submission. Lagos responded on the 17th saying 'my application is being reviewed' 13 minutes after my application was updated to 'medical requested' Medicals: 21st December Passport Request/Medical passed: 28th December - 1 week after medical was done. Passport submission: 28th December I kept seeing 'no record found' when trying to track my Passport on vfsglobal's website. Sent Lagos immigration an email on 3rd of January telling them my school resumed on that day. Correspondence Letter/Application status updated to 'approved': 5th January. I'll be going to get my passport soon. Documents submitted: SOP, BSc. transcript, school fees tuition receipt, sponsor's account statement for 6 months (can't remember how much he had, and he lives in Canada), my bank statement for 1 month, financial support letter from my supervisor, my mum's land deed, acceptance letter. PS: if there are other documents, I can't remember them now. Note: I applied twice in 2017 and was denied. In this application, I prayed, fasted and had an unwavering faith in God all through it all. I can't give anyone my SOP because I don't know where these documents are right now. School: Brandon University Course: MELS - Masters in Environmental and Life Science. 11 Likes |

Hamsal197: Please anyone with idea on the above? I'm asking because I found that my application is being processed in Ukraine (kyiv.gc.ca.) online route, and this people are taking forever to send me PPR. I did medicals on 26th of Nov. Medical passed on 7th Dec., and i was asked to upload my updated admission letter. I did that on 10th of Dec. Nothing since then. I mailed them on 21st of Dec. and they replied "Your submission has been uploaded. You will be contacted shortly". I don't know their own definition of shortly since 21st or I'm the one that do not understand English again. |
