akinlolumichael: Nice idea but I don't think I will like to try that. I mean renting a bakery. The three locations I mentioned (Ibadan, Ogun and Lagos ) Spaces are available for me there. That's one one major advantage I have. I am only considering the one that wil favour me most in term of marketing and competitions. 1 Like |

Hello dear, like I said, I run a home bakery. So basically what I did was change my previous gas cooker which was just 2 burners to a twin oven with 4 burners and one hot plate in the middle of the burners. It's quite a small oven, just like family size but it gets the work done. I'm planning on getting a bigger one by the end of this month but this one here is exactly what I've been using as a starter. Hello, please, what kind of oven did you get for 80k? Kindly reply. Thanks [/quote] 1 Like |

Whobedatte: Spiritually ke? Lols, abeg o. I did an oil business a little before I stepped down for some reasons. Before I started, I heard all manner of thinz but in the end I discovered that every business is usually associated wt some kind of fear n it's natural. I remember hw I used to hav bad dreams abt my tank falling off, going off in flames etc. Most times, these dreams occur as a result of all manner of stories I've heard n risks involved in d business. Eventually, I stopped because I can't jxt stand d risk of loosing a tank. Each time I was xpectin a delivery I would b restless and filled wt fear bcus if such things happens it means millions gone and d funny thin is, yhu'r on yhur own. If yhu don't hav xtra to get yhu another round.....the business is over. The profits in the business is vry attractive bcus after settling yhur escorts and other xpenses yhu still plenty left as profits. My point is, I don't believe in any spiritual whatever in businesses. It's the tot and stories like this that fuels such fears. They will b telling yhu to fortify yhur self, do sacrifices etc, in d name of the perceived enemies. Smh, Africans though 8 Likes 1 Share |

A passion can be said to propel one...in my involvement at some, I can tell you that I start with so little, because I had a Oven Gas cooker that can take like 5 chunks at a time, until I bought a locally made Oven, constructed the pans, get all the necessary materials, all these was less than 200k. was doing it and selling gradually... My suggestion is you can start any how and grow it. My wife would put it in her car to sale at different Bus Stop... 4 Likes

I once managed my uncle's bakery. Location: Nnewi, Anambra State Like someone said. You'll need at least 5m and a great deal of patient. Most of the equipments are expensive nowadays. You'll have to decide if you want to use electric, gas or firewood ovens 3 Likes |

Whobedatte: According to this person, one cannot be successful in doing business in Nigeria unless s/he is spiritually fortified. According to him, it's not the quality of one's product/service but how many spiritual rites one has performed. A stupid and foolish way to reason! 5 Likes |

Time will not permit to say it all,but interns of bakery that is what I do . first it depends on the type of bakery you want to open. We have local and modern bakery. In modern bakery, you need spiral mixer which the 25kg goes for 400k,half bag deck oven or rotary oven, the former cost 750k and the later 1.5m for half bag.you need generator at least capacity of 20kva to power the spiral mixer, the oven does not require big amount electricity since the deck is powered by cooking gas and rotary powered by diesel.you talk of table, which will cost 50k for stainless and 20k if want wood but stainless is always preferred. For slice bread which weighs 800 gram, you the cup or pan and one cost 200 naira ,so 110 PCs which is required for one bag of flour will cost 22k. In terms of local bakery, the equipments is totally different: you need steam tube oven which cost 800k for the one that can contain 2bags of flour ,that is 220 loaves, standard slice bread. You need milling machine and lister .both will be connected together with belt and the will cost 450k. Then table and mixing basin ,totalling 30k.with this set up you can do 10 bags of flour a day. Another thing is packaging; we have digital stereo, local stereo and cylinder. Cylinder cost 120k per colour and you need to design with 3 colours at least .second in order is digital stereo, it cost 50k .you need at least 3 colours for proper design. The last local or rubber stereo, it is 15 k per colour. Note : there are many things to be said but time will not permit me. I have bakery, I can allows you access to my bakery after serious discussion. You come and witness it yourself not one E book or the other.bakery business is pratical stuff and very serious business .you can chat me on 08063992969 for more details because of time. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Few questions; 1. Is it a profitable business considering the cost of flour, sugar, equipment, diesel, gas & other cost elements? 2. What kind of area is suitable to locate the business? nevplus: 2 Likes |

Rerhoov: OMG! Ur mention brought me back to this thread. I totally forgot I sed I was gonna ask my client who started a new bakery late last year about what it costed him to set up his bakery. And to think I saw one of d bakery consultants about 12 hours ago #mybad I'll definitely do today and update d house. I'll call u during the day sir, thank you Update as regards inquiry! He refused to give prices but only listed machines n items to procure ([mixer, oven, Stainless tables, bread racks, crates, pans, digital weighing machines, 50kg cylinders) telling me to pay 700k consultation fee just to tell me what machines he bought with prices. I give up on him, will ask someone else though 3 Likes 1 Share |

Yes,it is a profitable business.you are supposed to gain 4k per bag.so multiply by 10 bags, you know what is the answer. If you are to start in small scale, then I will advice you to open near busy road so that you gain a lot selling fresh bread from oven to passer by.hot bread sells more than hot cake in that kind of place. If you are to start in big scale ,then you need to open it in area where bakery is scarce so that people around will be rushing your product. Make sure produce both big and small size.never underrate the small size, that is where the gain lies.you then use your vehicle to distribute 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Thread For Bakery Owners And Intending Owners In Nigeria by Nobody: 11:09am On Jan 19, 2019 |
Gerrard59:not stupid or foolish bro.. I manage a bakery and truthfully only God's grace have kept us.. By the time u come out strong taking other peoples customers. Make them have low sales unlike before. Na then u go know say naija people get jazz.. Bakery Bakery Bakery.. Let me gist you something here... Bakeries are folding up this days due to the high competition now.. Everyone is setting up bakery.. The only equipment needed is just a mixer and oven.. Others like pans and tables with your nylons too also ain't cheap so I wonder how people say 750k will set up a bakery that wants to employ labour, pay them and still make money for its owner.. Expenses killed many bakeries that never got it right with its tools before starting... So prayers and good management matters when thinking of coming to our world. Thanks 4 Likes |
