INCREASE IN COMMISSION CHARGE ON STOCKBROKING TRANSACTION
We would like to first and foremost thank you for your patronage over the years; we are pleased to have been in business with you since the past 5 years, overcoming hurdles and challenges together in unison. We are optimistic that the best is yet to come out of this mutually beneficial relationship.

As you may be aware, MorganCapital Securities Limited has over the years remained active and featured among the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) weekly top ten stockbrokers’ list; and in the spirit of giving back to the industry has charged the lowest commission in the entire stockbroking space not minding the ever-growing hurdles and challenges associated with expenses and operational cost. We had at inception introduced our unique commission of 0.25% contrary to what was obtainable in the market and this has remained so up until now despite the disproportionate rise in service expenses.

In order to ensure we continue to provide the exceptional services you have enjoyed over the years, we’ll be increasing our stockbroking commission charge on all clients’ transaction to 0.50%, effective, 1st February 2019. This clearly remains a deep discount from 1.35% charged by other stockbroking firms. We have also concluded plans to offer additional value-added services which centers around advanced research analyses which will most likely increase the chances of profitable trading while the algorithm trading features will be implemented within the year.

As you are aware, we have never compromised the quality of our services even in the hardest of times and we will endeavor to ensure this standard is not only maintained but continuously improved on.

We once again thank you for your understanding and your continued patronage.

Chibuking81:
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/01/merger-cbn-sec-grant-approval-in-principle-to-access-diamond-banks/

It's becoming clear that Access bank will complete the acquisition procedure of Diamond bank. In 3 stages of approval, they have pass 2, remaining 1. And they will also go for right issue

That should be one of the reason, Diamond bank tested 2.10.
Short time Disadvantages of this acquisition to Access bank are:
1. It will affect payment of their final year dividend. Shareholders might witness denial of final year dividend since they are talking of right issue, they might not pay dividend to their share holders, or they will pay little.
2. As soon as they merge, the number of their outstanding share will increase, and will increase further after their right issue. This will greatly affect their EPS, Their eps will fall by 60/70%, Flour mill comes to mind after their last right issue. This will still affect their stock price .
Not surprising, they have never been fantastic when it comes to payment of dividends, moreover, they already have plans of reducing cash payments in form of dividends https://www.google.com/url?q=https://businesspost.ng/2018/11/29/access-bank-may-reduce-dividend-payment-to-stay-afloat/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjQkL2Qn_DfAhXKbVAKHURJB2gQFjAAegQIBBAB&usg=AOvVaw3x9yEZ6vtUJmsuBCbX2PnC

It seems there is a Morgan Capital Group agent monitoring this thread.. A discussion of service charge just took place here and the next thing I see in my inbox is a mail notifying me of slight increase.. It is either someone is sent to come and fly that topic to sample opinions.

Oando deal comes to mind.

I am moving my funds after elections. These ones cannot come and be playing with me like that. I cannot be using Polaris and you expect me to pay .50%

Morgan is still referencing 1.35% while the reality is commisions are now negotiable. All PFA trades are done at .20% and most FP trades are also done at the .20% level. So, transaction costs are on the downward trajectory, you cannot raise people's expectation and later dash it, it will be looked upon as a disappointment even when the new rate is still below what most firms charge for trades.

This their writeup is slow sha, you appear on top ten because of the low commission. Since you've decided to increase your commission by 100%, your volume and value of trades will also drop.

Hope, it's not because we are praising them. If they review their commission and it becomes high, I will move away from them.

Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you.

Plus the fact that the brain behind the low commission is late. You see why we can't build businesses that outlive the owners in this part of the world. The day Aliko passes, all his businesses will start looking down. I am just imagining how the refinery at Lekki will become moribund upon his passing.

Maybe.

My own issue is that I cannot be paying you .50% and be doing transaction with you through Polaris. The other thing is that, everyone in Morgan is an employee, so there is no personal relationship with clients.

A round trip trade that costs 1.55% before is now 2.05%, never. Why I use them is to hide my dealings from friends, now I will move and still get that 0.25% elsewhere.

Morgan should PLAIN FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!

Do they think they are the only ones offering 0.25% ? Other brokers offer 0.25% if you ask.

They do not even know that the reason they are getting so much more patronage is because of their low commissions.

0.5% will not fly for a frequent trader like me! I'll move to other brokers!!!!

Personal relationship bro.

But if you are doing 100m turnover per annum, you can approach many houses for a concession and you should pull off a .50%. There, you can build relationships that could translate to getting same day withdrawal without penalty, placing your order by calling when there is crisis or a glitch and so forth.

Don't mind them, they want us to pay for their inefficiencies. By the time they face massive withdrawals they'll understand.

Call up any broker and ask them that you are offering 0.25% and ask them whether they'll take your business or not.

The problem is that we do not understand that commissions are actually meant to be negotiated. NSE commissions are not fixed!

Because we do not ask them, we do not get. A lot of brokers have different commission rates for different traders depending on their negotiating power.

Access after this their deal, it will really take them time to bounce back, if at all they will see their former position. Diamond bank, started going down when they started releasing bad result, their last year result was poor, going by their EPs, after merging what will really add value to their company and increase their EPs? They might witness what Oando witnessed. Oando would have been selling above their current price if not because of blind deal they went into. ( Acquisition of Conoco Phillips)
