YORUBAS are naturally betrayers and sellouts.
No matter what u do for them at the end they will betray u.
Even if u spilled ur own blood and die to save them, they can't still be pleased.

Without IGBOS the entire Yoruba race would have been wiped out by Hausa FULANI.
But what did IGBOS get in return.
Betrayal, chronic hatred, envy, jealousy, from Yorubas it's sad!

Middle belt..the Tiv region...that one was due to the crisis between Northern Hausas and minorities...a crisis that played out in all the regions by the way.(Minorities vs Majorites)..and led to the agitation for states., and the breakup of the regions (from 1963 on wards..the Midwest region was created for minorities in the Western region.)...

Western Nigeria...the problem started when Akintola and Awolowo disagreed over the future political direction of the South West....which set off the chain of events that led to Awo being jailed for treason, the Operation Wetie...fighting between Awo and Akintola supporters that got so bad...the government was on the verge of declaring a state of emergency when the January 66 coup happened.

GOOD!

And after the coup ousted and got Hausa and Yoruba politicians killed in gruesome manner, and Ibo man, Agui Ironsi emerged as the military head and issue decree 34 which cancelled the semi autonomous regional structure and imposed unitary system on Nigeria. After that, Ironsi appointees were majorly igbos and that further fuelled fear of domination among other ethnic groups especially the Northerners that led to counter coup.

Can you also tell us why the Igbo Quater-master general of the Army Gen. Unegbe was killed by the 'IBO coupists', in an 'Igbo coup' that was supposed to kill 'other non-ibos and spare IBOs' according to your lazy propaganda.

What is a mere quarter master to the premier of a region, prime minister and finance minister?

Yes you are right, even my late uncle admitted that some of their fellow coupist made mistakes in the coup execution and Aguiyi Ironsi too made mistake.

You are right.

They had good intentions initially but failed to implement their plan well which cost Igbos a lot too; Igbos paid the price of the wrong execution of that first coup of 1966

Nigerians keep insulting this man and dismissing his Biafran Agenda. But step by step it continues to grow, many drops of water eventually turn to a puddle. They keep pressing, they keep wooing the Ibos . One day they might win them over eventually. They might create enough awareness, they might become politically structured. They might get referendum.
This looks to me like the first steps of history, like humble beginnings. I have this feeling all this struggle will define the history and birth of a nation called Biafra.
As a non Ibo I would also like to dismiss Biafra but something tells me not to

That is my exact thought. The guy is building a serious movement. I watched one documentary on Adolf Hitler. He started building his movement in late 1920s with nothing, under 15 years he built a very wicked congregation called Nazi party, if not for President Rosvelt of US, Churchill of UK and Stalin of Russia, only God knows what Hitler would have done to the world.

Nigeria need to get her act right. Time is running out. Enough of nepotism, marginalization. There is a very big need to unite this Nation, let brothers be as one.
But if things continue the way they are, they will continue fueling this guys

Nwafor Orizu the then Senate President of Nigeria had no power, had no visible contribution to the corruption happening among the first republic politicians.

And mind you, their plan was to kill the Prime Minister Tafawa Belewa, Ahmadu Bello the Northern Emir who was leading Tafawa Belewa on towards an Islamic agenda, and then President Azikiwe who always danced to northern politicians tune.

They planned to arrest others until Awolowo is installed as Prime Minister, but you know the man that has gun + alcohol + narcotics can go nuts cos they were under the influence of alcohol too according to my uncle.

My late uncle that participated in the coup said they only planned to kill 3 major politicians, namely:

1.) Tafawa Belewa
2.) Nnamdi Azikiwe
3.) Ahmadu Bello

Then arrest:

4.) Akintola
5.) Tam West
6.) The man from Edo. Forgotten his name.

He said some of them weren't happy with the way some of their fellow coupist handled the coup execution in their assigned region.

My uncle also told us that the political tuzzle between Awolowo and Akintola also played a key role in their decision for the coup because that Northern politicians wanted to use that opportunity of political turmoil between Awolowo faction and Akintola faction to invade Southwestern Nigeria and suppress the fast rising influence of Awolowo, a devout Christian, whole they liked and believed would make a better leader for Nigeria.

The northern politicians and traditional rulers liked Nnamdi Azikiwe because he played to their request always and remained ceremonious as he was more concerned with being a national leader respected all over Nigeria than fighting for the good of his people unlike other first republic politicians then.

SIR AHMADU BELLO'S (Sardauna) XMAS MESSAGE TO NORTHERN CHRISTIANS IN
1959
We are people of many different races, tribes and religions, who are knit together by common history, common interests and common ideals. Our diversity may be great but the things that unite us are stronger than the things that divide us. On an occasion like this, I always remind people about our firmly rooted policy on religious tolerance. Families of all creeds and colour can rely on these assurances. We have no intention of favouring one religion at the expense of another. Subject to overriding need to preserve law and order, it is our determination that everyone should have absolute liberty to practise his beliefs. It is befitting on this momentous day, on behalf of my ministers and myself, to send a special word of gratitude to all Christian missions. Let me conclude this with a personal message. I extend my greetings to all our people who are christians on this great feast day. Let us forget the difference in our religion and remember the common brotherhood before God, by dedicating ourselves afresh to the great tasks which lie before us.

Strangely now, u are praising the very first coup plotters in Nigeria; conveniently saying they killed corrupt politicians in 1966 coup.

I ask u, were the 1984 politicians,that pmb overthrown Not corrupt ?

The same tribe lampooned Yorubas for supporting PMB, claiming that Yorubas are slaves to Hausa.

Now,who are those rooting for Atiku?and d last time, I checked, atiku is still an Hausaman.
Should we now regard the people supporting Atiku as slaves too ?

I don't believe in PMB, neither do I have hope in Atiku.

My point to u is that, stop changing the goalposts, whenever the narratives doesn't suit u.

In life, don't listen to what people say, believe what they do.

Buhari for instance write even more, but his actions shows he is a tribal religious bigot, and Islamic extremist and reason why all the northern Almajiri love him, nothing more.

They hate Atiku because Atiku is not a tribal religious bigot ready to kill and undermine other tribes and religion to please Northern Muslims, that's the only reason they don't love Atiku as much.

If Atiku start attacking Christians and condemning Christians while supporting every Muslim extremism, you will see Northerners start to follow him massively, its their way.

They deserve to have their own Islamic nation and practice Islam their way without disturbance from any other tribe or religion, but due to long throat for crude oil, they refuse to seek for their own independent Islamic nation undecided

Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna, who was the leader of the coup, went to the home of Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari (who was the Commanding Officer of the Second Brigade) and personally shot him. This was despite the fact that he was one of his most trusted officers and confidantes, and despite the fact that earlier that evening he had attended a cocktail party in his house. After killing Maimalari, Ifeajuna went to Ikoyi Hotel, where Lt. Col. Abogo Largema, who was the Commander of the Fourth Battalion in Ibadan, was staying and he personally shot and killed him too.

After that, both he and Major Donatus Okafor, another of the mutineers, abducted Sir Tafawa Balewa, the Prime Minister, from his home and took him to the Officers Mess at Dodan Barracks. Once it was clear to them that the coup was unraveling they fled from Dodan Barracks, drove to the Lagos-Abeokuta road, shot the Prime Minister and then dumped his body in a bush. The Special Branch reports show that both Ifeajuna and Okafor shot Tafawa Balewa at point blank range in the head and body.

The evil old man should just shut up; if they had not intervened and disrupted our nascent democracy, Nigeria would have been a better place today.

What corruption, when their main targets; the Sardauna and the prime minister hardly had any assets: mere modest houses/farms each and almost empty bank accounts?

What nepotism, when most of the appointed positions made by the prime minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (including all the service chiefs) were filled by Igbos?

What Jihad? How could the Sardauna have waged jihad on the whole country when he as the premier of northern region had control and influence over only ONE out of the FOUR existing regions at the at time?

Blatant lies and excuses for their evil deeds

Their motivation for the coup was clearly tribal and regional hatred fuelled by individual and collective bloated egos - they just couldn't stand the fact that those they were looking down upon as inferiors were in charge.

If the plotters were truly patriotic and their mission was to rid the country of all the evils they claimed; then why didn't they come up with any vision or blue print plan to address the said problems when they took over, beyond their short sighted goal of the lopsided killings of mostly northern leaders?

No matter how much they try to twist the truth or re-write history; they cannot remove the facts that: the coup was an Igbo coup; planned and executed by mainly Igbos; which targeted only non-Igbos; Igbos stood to benefit and indeed benefited most from it.

In order to consolidate power to themselves; they interrupted our nascent democracy; dismantled the regional system of government and replaced it with the unitary system we have inherited today - which had since been the bane of this country; yet they are the ones at the forefront of those calling for restructuring while blaming northerners for the very problem they caused themselves.

Being paranoid causes tension even among family members. Intolerance and unnecessary suspicion brings nothing but destruction and that was what really happened.

Awolowo and Akintola feud had no religious coloration neither was it caused by Northern politicians. Tafawa Balewa govt merely took advantage of that to divide and weakened the opponents which is understandable in politics.

Infact ever since, this is first time i see someone linking Nigeria political crises in the first republic to religion and it is ludicrous and baseless.
