Kenya Bus Service is still operational but is now privately ran. There are other major bus companies including City Hoppa, Double MM and hundrends co-operatives with thousands buses - operating within Nairobi routes. The scheduling though no longer works.Buses leave when full or depending on the crew.

About 4-5 bus companies are allowed to get into CBDs - Double M, City Hopa, City Shuttle & KBS - the rest are allowed on specific routes.

Kenya Bus services.

City Shuttle.

City Hoppa

The other buses - mainly mini-buses - that are allowed on specific routes and must belong to a saving & co-operative society - who have rules including crew having uniforms & etc.

These mini-buses are not allowed on CBD and are restricted to specific routes. Each have their own branding.

Those that operate in middle & upper class neigherhood tend to a little soft on the colors. Those that operate in lower middle class are full of grafti

These ones operate in Umoja - one of Nigerians favourite residence smiley

Some are less colourlful

You're acting stupid. It should have 4 times the size of our telcom industry to match us and more to beat us. South Africa are about 60M; We are 50M; we cannot use per-capita argument against South Africa.
We are talking of quantity here not value!

So Nigeria should have 8 Telecom companies because Kenya has 4?
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nobody: 9:25am On Jan 17, 2019
Not necessarily. It really depend on what value. There is quantitative value and qualitative value. Generally speaking you speaking if you're in doubt about per capita logic - check South Africa numbers. If you're talking about number of companies - then yes to beat Kenya - you'd need more than 66 versus 99. Unless you're NOW admitting both countries are equal peers.

In Nairobi - new 14 seaters have not been allowed for about 10yrs or more now. The gov is waiting for old ones to disappear. The 14 seaters are still allowed outside Nairobi in small cities and towns.

All public transport vehicles must belong to company or SACCO (saving & credit cooperatives). They must indicate the routes & max passengers in a yellow strip and must indicate the SACCO they belong to.

Again very simplistic from you. This is not the total number of companies in our respective countries but list of the most promising companies. This is a ranking, it has nothing to do with population.

It's like saying China should have more companies in fortune 500 because of it's population.

And my previous question was straight to the point. Yes or no will do.

There are of course long distance bus companies that operate btw Narobi and other cities within Kenya & outside (all way to Kigali).

They range from luxury buses with air-conditions and screens - to rickety buses. All must belong to SACCOs or Companies

For example: Modern coast - amongst other buses companies - operate in most of East Africa - with Buses taking you from Nairobi to DarSlums, Kigali, Kampala name it.

Modern coast -air conditioned bus with onboard entairment.

Everyone knows China is still far away from US. The same way everyone in this thread now knows Kenya is FAR AHEAD of Nigeria. Let use Ghana. You say Ghana would be a state in Nigeria. If Ghana had 66 most promising companies and Nigeria had 99 companies. Who do you think is FAIRING BETTER. The answer is Kenya. You have 4 times our population and allegedly 4 times plus our GDP. You should have more companies in that list.

Stop acting dumb.We cannot just compare countries without factoring many things. It like comparing apples & oranges. They are fruits - but different.

You've got to compare the two countries quantitatively and qualitatively.

Scheduled inter-city buses were introduced in Nairobi in 1980s. These were gov ran buses - Lagos is right there now smiley - and that didn't quite work - and private inter-city buses took over.
Are you okay.

Didn't you see the buses I posted, those are intercity buses and not BRT

You claim Kenya is Africa's Dubai and yet Nairobi lacks everything a world class city would have

Except for high rise and planting for forest, due to inability to Occupy the land with buildings

A simple BRT,you don't have

Every pics about anything is surely always from CBD

Just 5 terrorist brought the whole of Kenya to stand still and tremor

BRT is stop-gap measure that you see in third world cities - not world class cities - you see in Latin America & part of Asia. Nairobi will soon have one - but that is not solution. The solution is to have modern underground commuter light rail that can carry 5-10M per day. Nigeria Lagos BRT is carrying 150K per day -in a city of 20M. You got jokes.

Nairobi is not empty. It is well planned.

Nairobi is grappling with few issues - traffic jams (commuter rail system is the answer) and not enough water (we are solving that) - are the immediate concerns. Your Lagos need to start from electricity - before it can even talk.

The northern collector water project - will increase water supply to Nairobi and reduce water shortages in some estates.

A construction worker inside the Northern Water Collector Tunnel in Makomboki, Murang’a county.
NCT 1 Project entails construction of a fully lined 11.8km, 3.2m diameter tunnel to collect 40% of flood water from Maragua, Gikige & Irati Rivers. The project will increase Water Supply to Nairobi by 140 million liters per day to serve an additional 1.2 million residents by December 2019

Solving Nairobi Water Crisis.

By end of this year- Nairobi will have extra 140M liters of water to support 1.2M residents - while Lagos are trying to paint their pig with lipstick. They haven't even dealt with basic - water, electricity, sewage and roads.

Don't conflate personal achievement with country achievement.

Nigeria can never make black race proud - not with it's well earned reputation for
1) Stupidity - selling 2m barrels of oil & earning 600B dollars - with nothing to show.
2) Crime & drug dealing - well earned global reputation - soiling black race. You can add international prostitution.
3) Fraud & Corruption - the same - you cannot do online purchase or many things from Africa thanks to Nigeria 419.
4) Poverty - Nigeria is now the capital of poverty - the image of poor indians defacating in the open - has been replaced with Nigerian.
5) Terrorism - They are exporting terror to regional neigbours through BokoHaram.
6) Immigration - Nigeria are trying to escape Africa like there was war in their country. You can add human trafficking.

Don't confuse the 10 feet water tunnel with SGR tunnel - two tunnels - longest I think 7Kms. They are in Ngong - Nairobi Metro. The second longest tunnel in Africa after one in South Africa.

The Nigeria doesn't own it. It's vehicle for investors. He get money from investors and try make them some decent returns. And it based in London - and doesn't seem to have invested a dime in Nigeria. They may well invest in Kenya before they invest there. That is the nature of the money.

Check Lagos light rail,BRT,4th mainland bridge, numerous cities etc

Nairobi suffers severe underdevelopment

Now tell me anything Kenya has that you won't find bigger and better in Lagos

check Osun state billion naira water project and hide your face in shame.

1) 600B dollars is a lot of money. Kindly get a grip of yourself. All those projects are not even 100B. Maybe the rest were stashed abroad in Swiss banks and that is what Hellios & GIP are cleaning smiley . Money laundering 101?

Citing Transparency International, he said an estimated 57 billion pounds was laundered within and through the UK in 2013 alone, representing 3.6 per cent of that year’s national real GDP.

Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/us-uk-biggest-recipients-looted-funds-nigeria-expert/

2) We are not exporting crime & drug dealing(not at your scale anyway) worldwide. Yes we have insecurity as you'd expect from developing and unequal country. Our country is still safe enough to see 2M international tourist visit.

3) Check your sources again - Kenya is now richer than Nigeria - our poverty rate has dropped to 35% - yours is rising to 60%.

4) We are victim of Alshaabab terror like Chad or Niger are victim of Nigerias Boko Haram. Nairobi got attacked. Boko haram are domicled and control territory in Nigeria. From their base in North East in Nigeria - they are exporting international terror.

5) Chinese no longer immigrate. About 90M are now visiting as tourist the world. Chinese proffesionals are emigrating back to China. India is about to reverse that trend too. Nigeria you need to provide hope and opportunity for your people.

The hotel was long cleared. There's no more civilians now. But overnight hundreds spent hiding and were rescued the last group around 3 AM before dawn. The response was too overwhelming for the terrorists they freaked out after a few initial successes. Couldnt even take hostages they got pinned down in dark corners staring at our venomous Recce Medusa! We have come of age my brother. Thank Thor!

I can see the kenyan police and special forces did a excellent job. If it was in nigeria the police and military will run away the next day the police will go and look for civilians and kill them and say they are the terrorist. I think it is time kenya takes the war to hausa bath in somalia. Please I wish this does not affect tourism too much.
