What disaster is worse than what we're facing now Emefiele ? A situation where the FG through NNPC/CBN is the only entity pumping FX into the system instead of foreign direct investors is bad enough to imagine. You people are disasters, bayajida is a cow fùcker cool

The CBN under the watch of Emefiele and the Lifeless Prince of Daura had already caused the greatest disaster in the history of Nigeria, so we have nothing to worry about.

It"s crazy to hear that from CBN governor. The institution should be free for partisan politics and here we are the governor making a claim about what opposition candidate say. Nigeria has done to the dogs.

Another case of a destroyed institution. Isn't the CBN supposed to be non-partisan and a professional outfit focused on its primary function?

Go back and read!

He said CBN is apolitical but the Bank will respond to ANYTHING in his purview. He also begged politicians not to drag the CBN into politics.

So the CBN should keep quiet while Atiku us saying CBN don't know how to manage this economy?

we need to float the naira...
Things will shoot up initially but will still find its bearing...
The current exchange rate structure is flawed, why should somebody determine the worth of my currency?
After the initial price spike, the imported goods will be soo expensive that nobody will even want to buy from china again. Slowly but surely, local markets will begin to boom and our currency will slowly get stronger so at the end, we have a strong naira and an even stronger local market.
I'm surprised the CBN governor doesn't know this or maybe somebody wants to keep getting usd for 199 special rate.

Lest I forget, why should Nigeria be waiting for dangote for them to be self sufficient in anything? This market monopoly of dangote is killing the youths. For how long will we keep doing contribution in dangote's pocket?
Never have housing become sooo expensive, now with dangote's monopoly on fertilizers, food will become more expensive. Chai

Looted brain, Atiku has caused serious damage to your brain. How can the thief be thinking of selling Nigeria on OLX and some deranged kids are supporting him?
Blame no one supporting Atiku, Buhari's failure gave them reasons to do so just like Jonathan's failure gave people reason to vote anything asides Jonathan hence the emergence of Buhari.
I won't ever give my vote for Atiku but kindly give me one thing Buhari has done in the last 4 years for him to deserve a 2nd tenure, even in the midst of the various corruption scandals surrounding his government and yet he is alleged to be fighting corruption.
Lets discuss like intellectuals, my ears are open,

That's the only language. Everyone is a thief except Akpabio, Danbazau, Buratai, Amaechi, Tinubu, Aregbesola, Oshomhole, Ganduje etc.

What a nation and religious people.

TheSaxophonist:

“The MPC reviewed it and concluded that it would be wrong. It is as good as saying that we should go back to the era of Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) in Nigeria,” Emefiele said.

“The implication can better be imagined. It will certainly lead to capital flight, lead to massive depreciation or devaluation of the currency and ultimately to currency crisis in Nigeria and I think we should all know that it is a road to perdition to ever go in that direction.”

“We cannot be talking about allowing import of items that can be produced in the country today, exporting jobs from Nigeria to foreign countries, and we say we have the interest of Nigeria at heart? We don’t agree with anybody. It is a wrong premise to say that you will allow imports to just flood the country just because you want to please anybody. It is not in our interest.

Politicians will promise all sort of things in their desperation for power. If you mean well for the country and the people, how can you promise free-float of import [which engenders capital flight and job loses] in an entirely consuming country when we can look inward, invest in infrastructures and encourage local production for export?

This is one of the problems of political debates, a stage managed event for bragging-right. Nigerians in their docility will nod their heads in their impending doom. We don't analyse proposals and reports. We are too lazy and religious/ethically bigotry to see beyond political presentations.

Not sure that the CBN which has supervised Nigeria into a recession, supervised Nigeria into a double-digit inflation, being the financial framework on which Nigeria has become the world capital of poverty, has the credibility to say it knows what it's doing. grin grin

In a sane clime, there would have been resignations and the sack.

Hence any politician, heck any literate person, is justified in proffering suggestions to what is a clear case of sequential display of incompetence by the CBN.
