kid7soccer:I was told (some) diamond rings have an asking price of 12500AED but upon bargaining, the seller approached was willing to take about 7500AED for some. Quality will certainly come to play in determining price. Your negotiation skills, the seller could also land you a better bargain. Gold is priced per gram but unfortunately, i have no idea how much a gram costs as my cotravellers did not remember to make enquiries. So sorry. cutieme:Airline is Emirates. I can't ascertain cost as i did not book the flight. Always best to confirm current prices on their website. BTA for UAE is $1000 (for a single individual) according to an immigration officer at MMIA. 5 Likes |

Communication: If you enabled roaming on your Nigerian SIM card, you will be able to make and receive calls here. This is however a very terrible idea as you will pay exorbitant tariffs for calls to Nigeria. #1500 credit could be inadequate for a 3-minute call. The best option is to purchase a SIM card when you arrive so you can contact your friends and family a little cheaper. I know of 2 Network providers, (there may be others). ▪Du ▪Etisalat ------------------------------------- Du: I don't know much about this except that the SIM costs 10AED and they require both your passport and visa for on-the-spot registration. Etisalat: 10AED for the SIM and only your international passport is needed for on-the-spot registration. ▪Phone number is 10 digits. ▪Doesn't come preloaded with airtime. ▪Calls made on the same network are (sort of) cheap. ▪Validity is (as we were told) from three months and could extend up to a year. i.e. After 3 months of inactivity, you risk deactivation and will be required to reactivate before you can continue usage. 11 Likes |

FRIDAY, 25/01/2019 Good morning house. First Friday here and from what i see, today isn't a "strict" work day. It almost looks like a weekend in Nigeria. On my way back from the supermarket, i saw a fairly large group of people who seemed to be returning from the mosque. We learnt not many shops will open today so we won't be going to the market. Something i forgot to mention earlier is the daily break.... Everyday from 13:30 to 17:30, everyone is allowed a break. The break is to give them the opportunity to eat and attend to other things but most importantly, it is to enable them pray. During these hours, (some) shops are closed, but like i said days back, you can still window-shop through the glass doors. The break isn't mandatory so some shops stay open but it is always a good idea to stick around till majority of the shops reopen so you can compare prices and (possibly) strike a better bargain. kid7soccer:Happy to help. Greatguy01:Some things are pricey while others are not so pricey. Striking a balance and avoiding impulse buying is the key to survival here (and anywhere else) in my opinion. If you can find a job before coming down here, it's even better. Things are cheaper when you earn in their local currency (AED) compared to converting from ₦ namo77:Thanks brother. @bolded, i talked about that here; ariketalks: 2 Likes |

WinningSun: What i gathered is this - Exchange companies here will only take Dollars, Euro or Pounds in exchange for AED so just convert your ₦ to either of those before coming. @Gr8mind07, the exchange market is at Al Sabkha. You will find very many Nigerians there. 5 Likes |
