House please I need your help..I applied to Harvard University and I was accepted..I cried the whole of yesterday when I receive my i20 but was not given any scholarship .
am 17 years old.i finished school last year..
now my problem is that my parent can't afford the school fees, so I want to know if I can be studying and working at the same time (outside campus) even if it means falling out of status I don't care because I know that I will find a better work after graduation that will file for my permanent stay ..my principal promise to give me the school account to use for sponsorship but can't pay for my school fees... please how much can I earn while working outside the school, can it pay my fees?..I am a hardworking and also very brilliant .I don't want to miss this great opportunity please help me out

When you get into Harvard for undergrad, financing it won't be a problem. There are lots of financing opportunities open to you.

Send a mail to your school and explain your situation. They will work something out for you.

If they offer you student loans, try and negotiate first for a scholarship. I will recommend you get the guidance of an experienced person for this negotiation.

Also, reach out to several institutions in the country. There are lots of institutions that will want to sponsor a Nigerian to Harvard. But this step is unnecessary because Harvard will surely work out a financial plan for you. Just make sure they include some scholarships so you don't have >$200K debt while graduating.

By already ordering for your I20, I presume you were already too anxious and you've made them think you have the $$$ to pay. That might work against you while negotiating for financial aid though.

Congratulations...

I thought same, but I had to check his post again. He received his i 20.

Yeah, that was why I modified his post when I read it a second time. I am guessing he might be confusing I20 with admission letter.

Mr Adviser. Is he going for masters in nursing informatics or another bsc. Shey you don't know having a bsc and going for another bsc reduces your chances of getting a visa?

If you were not ignorant, or maybe do some research, you will know that one would need to obtain an RN degree first before proceeding to informatics.

So what are you saying. You are even giving him wrong advise. You suggested nursing informatics and now saying you need nursing degree first before nursing informatics. See we are not here to quarrel, moving from bsc computer science to bsc nursing won't be easy to get visa with. He can switch when he get over there but he should try msc computer science or related course in order to secure his visa easily.

Wait, you are telling me that the embassy will deny this individual a visa for having a BSc in a major that is coveted by nursing programs, due to Electonic Health Record (EHR) being the norm in Healthcare facilities across the globe? OK. You are probably right.

Which one is major that you are referring to, Bsc Computer Science? Your write up is quite confusing.

Sorry for USA schools, you don't have to attend the school for a term before switching to another school. You can transfer to another school immediately you arrive USA and use that money for your intended program.

We are talking of if he doesn't have the scholarship, should he continue? No one will throw away full scholarship from an ivy league school. He is yet to respond how he got his i20 without providing proof of funding
Harvard is need blind se,they would fund him. Ivy league admission is a juicy cake, when someone get it,let's try to advise them on getting aid instead of asking them to throw it away and look for some other schools

Well i responded without knowing Harvard offers full ride scholarship for all, if your family earns under 65,000$ and i didn't advised him to throw it away. He asked if he can work & study to pay the tuition fees and i suggested he look for schools that can offer full ride scholarship if he can't get sponsor. Anyway, Lagosismyhome has advised him properly.

I applied to Harvard University and brown University for undergraduate..no scholarship was given to me ...I emailed the both school yet no reply, I wonder why my case is always different from other people's own because I haven't seen anyone without tuition waiver here.harvard is actually my top choice so I want to know if I can take loan while studying since my parent can't afford the fees ..I don't want to miss this opportunity because it cost me lot of money , interview and stress to get those admissions .I used my school account to get my i20 ..I've been disturbing them but brown University threatened to withdraw my admission if I can't finance my education, so I have no choice than to free them. I really want to attend Harvard cause it has been my dream school and I know it will expose me to so many opportunities .please is there any other means I can finance my education apart from taking loan ?
I finished school last year
I got 1462 in sat and 99 in TOEFL still no tuition waiver
I am 17 years old boy and very brilliant

In Havard University : International students receive exactly the same financial aid as Americans.

Once you are admitted to Harvard, we work closely with your family to ensure you can afford to come here. Because we seek the best students regardless of their ability to pay, we are committed to meeting 100 percent of demonstrated financial need for all four years.

Well you shouldn't have rushed to use your school account rather ask for advise like you are doing now, on how to get financial aid from the school. Now, Harvard might think your school is sponsoring you. GboyegaD asked you should private message him so he can assist you in contacting the school for financial aid.

when you applied to Harvard, did you demonstrate that you would need funding if taken? The only way Harvard won't fund you is if you demonstrate otherwise.

grin You scared me. So you weren't required to take atleast two subject tests?Wow!As I said it doesn't matter where you come from, once your parents earn less than $65000/annum you get to pay nothing. Go to the school's financial aid webpage, all the info you need is there.Brown is need based,so they are not obligated to provide for you but if Brown picks you then they're capable of meeting your demonstrated need. Maybe you didn't declare that you would be needing financial aid while applying to these schools.

You do not need a PGD to do your Masters as HND is accepted for graduate studies in the US. I would suggest you search schools that has a Masters program in your field of interest and apply. You can start with www.usnews.com for your school search.
You necessarily need not evaluate your transcript,
some schools have in-house evaluation team.[/quote

Thanks alot. I truly appreciate

You messed everything up when you used school account. They are assuming your school will sponsor you and they might have seen enough funding in the schools account. Well all hope is not lost, send a pm to GboyegaD, so he can help you construct a good write up that you can send to them. Am available to help too.

I'm guessing she wants to use the food science to apply. Not all U.S. medical schools accept international students. According to 2014 AAMC data, 62 medical schools stated they would accept international students' applications. Hey! Guys, I need help from anyone who has been an undergraduate in the USA. I'm a continued undergraduate student in the US. My DSO keeps asking me for bank statement or proof of ability to pay in order to update my SEVIS record every semester. I don't owe any money so far. But is this request right? I'm the only international student in my school, it's a small school. I'm enrolled full-time. I pay my tuition as cash comes but no large sum of money kept anywhere to show. What if I don't show her this semester, she will refuse to update my SEVIS record and I will become illegal. Is this the same requirement in other schools before your SEVIS is updated.
