The Lagos-Ibadan Railway project started in 2017 and so far, it is nearing its completion stage, according to the minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo will inspect the project by having a test drive from Lagos to Abeokuta to see how far work has been done. According to reports, the contract was awarded to CRRC Qishuyan to supply 4 NDJ3(N) DMUs, 6 DF11G(N) passenger locomotives, 9 DF8B(N) freight locomotives and 2 DF7G(N) shunting locomotives for the Lagos - Ibadan Railway and Abuja - Kaduna Railway. The first batch of 10 locomotives will be dispatched by the end of October 2019. What is confusing is that why is the federal government used to buying locomotive trains in these times of high-tech speed trains and advancement? Well, maybe we will get an answer for this soon. 1. We are simply the enemy of this nation, what are you expecting from analog man like Buhari which he even better than Atiku quote my word when we are persistently frustrating good candidates out of the race all the time. People like Kingsley, Durotoye and Co are there but we put all our efforts on Atiku Buhari the worst part are SE. With one of the best candidate from them they are still crying of Atiku that he boss described with different devilish adjectives 7 Likes |

Something that will soon pack up the same way port Harcourt airport facilities have packed up in less than 1 month after commissioning...The same way sub standard and refurbished military helicopters bought by buhari administration , including the one vice president boarded to kogi which crash landed in borno and other parts of the north, same way the substandard military hardware bought for fighting boko haram packed up. If buhari likes, let him bring down the moon in deperation of winning the election. We're not stupid. The judgement day is this month. 1 Like |

OP, This is the first time your post made absolute no sense to me. Please, don't start doing things that maybe harmful to your brand. The reason the FG started with locomotives is the same reason the Americans are yet to have Hyperloop trains. Lack of realistic expectations is the reason we are not making progress as a nation. In Europe many country still use diesel engine trains. In our city here we use trams powerd by electricity on the tram tracks along public urban streets. Towns and cities are linked by different kinds of rails with diesel engine locomotives. Majority of people commenting here has never seen a train track in their entire life likewise their parents. At this stage in our development, which is obviously stunted, It is better we have 100 locomotives than 20 high speed if the the cost of the 100 is same as or less than the 20. Since it is about the current government, maybe Atiku will update his campaign promise with the provision of high speed trains connecting all the 36 state capitals and the FCT within 100 days in office. Moreover, the picture you shared is not that of the actual cabin. That's for moving parts and equipment around. Why can't you show the full picture? 15 Likes 4 Shares

pedel: Excellent post.. They'd like us to believe that the same people with zero ability and capacity to complete any rail project in 16 years are all of a sudden capable of giving us the best railway in the world. Fortunately for Nigerians, the choice is clear and well defined, the first time in the history of Nigeria, a railway system was started and completed in less than 2 years. 16 years of nothing under PDP or 2 years of start to finish rail system under PAC? In the history of the PDP, they've never completed anything meaningful, not even their own secretariat which as usual was abandoned with the funds looted and parked in private bank accounts. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Iearnt that USA doesn't have bullet trains. I think it is time for private investors to come into this train transportation.it will pay off big time. And k also think we need stable electricity to power the electric trains if there are any. Las Las e go better for we naija 5 Likes 3 Shares |

All pdp and supporters should be obliterated. They are enemies of Nigeria. 16 years of virtually nothing. And they can shamelessly criticised the work of another man in less than 4 years. Shameless idiots. Even in Canada here and in d States, their are no speed trains. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

deomelo: That Ethiopia has built Africa’s first metro is illustrative of the country’s development in recent years: its economy has grown at rates of 10% per year for most of the last decade, partly thanks to grand infrastructure projects like this one. But it is evidence also of Chinese expansion across Africa. A Chinese loan paid for 85% of the $475m the Addis Ababa metro has cost; astonishingly, the line was built in just three years with plenty of imported engineering help. It will be run for the next five years by the Shenzhen Metro Group and China Railway Engineering Corporation. Chinese money is also paying for a new full-sized railway in Ethiopia, connecting Addis Ababa to Djibouti, which is planned to open next year, as well as new lines in Kenya and Nigeria. But other metro projects in sub-Saharan Africa are rare. Lagos, Nigeria’s biggest city, has had plans for a light rail transit system for several years now, which the World Bank has helped to fund; but construction has been continually delayed. There is much fighting over what has happened to the money already spent. Other large African cities, such as Nairobi, are investing more in roads than in rails. Commuters hoping to get onto a train and skip the traffic will have to keep waiting. 1 Like

deomelo: Hmm leave talk o Could you believe it was stated in an interview last night on TV by one of Abacha's ministers that this train transport project PDP and APC are claiming to have started was actually started by the Abacha regime. no be today! Abacha made sure these rail tracks project became reality. Pple are just fighting on the internet on which government started it...what Pdp and Apc were/are just doing was/is simply importing the train parts and assembling them here in Nigeria for use. I even learnt most of them have been imported long time ago even before this dispensation but were kept in warehouses only to be assembled and put into use now. Kudos to the Abacha regime for the ground breaking, near completion and the revival of the rail transport in Nigeria....that not withstanding, we can't overlook the fact that lack of policy continuity continues to be a problem in our political system. I just pray our maintenance culture has greatly improved or else the trains and rails will disappear fast. |

[s] CityNGR:[/s] What's my business with Ethiopia? Is Nigeria Ethiopia? Do we have the same number of mouth to feed and the same land mass to lay rail tracks over? Do they have looting and stealing people like the PDP You people sat on your hands and looked the other way when past governments and the looting and stealing PDP with the largest oil earnings in the history of Nigeria looted the treasury dry instead of building high-speed rail, instead of giving us 24/7 electricity with the $16 billion power fund they stole, many of you jokers shouting highspeed rail are the same hypocrites carrying water bottle for the same useless, incompetent looting and stealing PDP. Sadly for you, I don't buy into the rubbish concern and crocodile tears you people shed for Nigeria because you care less, you will do anything to bring back the same people responsible for the same lack of high-speed rail you are crying over in this thread. You are your and since you know so much about ultra modern infrastructure, run for public office and give us the best rail system in the world instead of cutting and pasting all over the place. 4 Likes 1 Share |
