Happiness67: Go ahead. As long as you able to justify why the person will be sponsoring you..40% of the semester just like it's written. Note that the 40% might not necessarily make the tuition affordable. Be sure to calculate what's left and be sure you can afford it. 2 Likes |

Greetings to the house. I appreciate the great job you guys are doing. May God continue to support your own work too. Please, I have 2 PhD admissions to start summer 2019-NMSU and LSU. However, I've not been able to secure funding for both. LSU says I can only get funding for my kind of program after enrollment/registration. NMSU says they're still looking for funding for me since most fundings are available in fall semester. My questions/enquiries are: 1. Which of the schools is better, not in term of ranking but such factors like ease of securing assistantship, friendliness, cost of living and such like 2. Does choosing abuja embassy for interview despite residing in Lagos has any negative implication? 3.Does going to embassy without Phd funding has any serious consequence? 4.I will appreciate further assistance/information from a current student/alumnus of either school. Thank you |

Don't go for the Phd Interview without having funding, most of the Phd programs gives full funding because its very expensive and the VO really sure you won't afford it by yourself.. Wait for the school to give you funding and if not, look for another schools |

The school and or dept should have a code. It should be on the admission page of your school's website. Use the code to request your score to be sent. dipomania070: |

chqakinns: 1. If you have gotten admission already and the school you applied to is a credible one, you don't have need for standardized test. Taking Standardized test shows you are a serious student and it's always advisable for students to write it, though it's not a must. 2. You have to search for this yourself. Most scholarships are for STEM courses. 1 Like |

tmd:There is no visa category for domestic help and the domestic help does not qualify for B1/B2. You will have to go without the domestic help and start learning to live without domestic help if you want to study in the US. 3 Likes |

Time2Smile: Short and straightforward. To the best of my knowledge, you can't have anyone as a domestic help staying indoors full time in the US. You can have police report/ letter of adoption as a backup document Or have her international passport carry same surname as you if you must, which I don't think it's realistic for an F1 applicant. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by lalavita: 6:12pm On Feb 06, 2019 |
The answer is YES. You can apply for your domestic employee to accompany you to the US while you are on an F1 Visa. The visa that they will get if granted is a B-1. It is very difficult to get though especially given the current mood (higher level of refusals for temporary visitors including students) at the US consulates in Nigeria. You will need to have exceptionally high financial means and both you, your family and your domestic help will have to prove major ties to Nigeria. The staff member must have also worked for you for a specified period of time plus other pre-conditions. In addition, previous travel history with your domestic staff will be helpful i.e if he or she has travelled with you to the UK or US in the past. Finally, remember that your husband cannot work or enrol in school full-time while on an F2 so the expectation is that if he is accompanying you, he should be able to take care of the children considering he will not be able to do anything else there so you will have to prove your case. In summary, very difficult but not impossible. All the best! See this link for details; http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typedomesticemployee.asp tmd: 4 Likes 1 Share |

LagosismyHome: Please I want to know if it is a bad thing to show up at US embassy for F1 visa without my NYSC discharge certificate. I am planning on skipping my youth service and I don't qualify for exemption letter, thanks. Others can contribute too. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by LagosismyHome(f): 8:41pm On Feb 06, 2019 |
Funnyman: The embassy doesn't ask for discharge certificate. They can ask for your work history and when you finished but nysc is not a show stopper neither is NYSC a requirement for F1 Although with what the finance minister went through you never know the future so maybe it best to do it 2 Likes |

Hello everyone. I am applying for Masters in Accounting in the US. I have some questions about applying to Texas A&M University-Commerce. Is there anybody who has studied there before that can answer some questions please? 1. Do they require WES evaluation for the MSA? (the application requirement page and the applytexas portal says no, but the Graduate student services coordinator who I emailed said I need to send a WES evaluation) 2. How is funding over there? Is there a possibility of full tuition waiver? 3. Can anybody explain the assistanship policy? I read it and it left me more confused than before. I have 3.03/5 GPA (Economics) , 311 GRE (161 V) and 107 TOEFL (all 28 except speaking 23). Do you think my profile is competitive for the program? Other schools I've applied to are: 1. UT Dallas 2. College of William and Mary 3. Wake forest University 4. Bentley University 5. UMD 1 Like 1 Share |

Auditmonkey: 1. Yes, Texas A&M University-Commerce now requires WES Evaluation. 2. If you get a Teaching assistantship/Research Assistantship position at Texas A&M University-Commerce, your tuition fee will be waived and some stipend paid to you. There are several type of funding in Texas A&M University-Commerce like the Julie Gouch scholarship, this scholarship if awarded qualifies you to pay fees as in-state student thereby reducing over 50% of the fees. As for the schools you applied to, wake forest and Williams & Mary college are top ranked schools, your GPA is not competitive for such school. They require minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 1 Like |

Thank you. No Husband is not going, his work is here. He has a valid B1/B2 so he wont be applying for F2. Thanks. In addition, previous travel history with your domestic staff will be helpful i.e if he or she has travelled with you to the UK or US in the past. Finally, remember that your husband cannot work or complete any credit earning courses while on an F2 so the expectation is that if he is accompanying you, he should be able to take care of the children considering he will not be able to do anything else there so you will have to prove your case. In summary, very difficult but not impossible. All the best! See this link for details; http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-typedomesticemployee.asp [/quote] |
