Vo: Good morning

Me: Good morning

Vo: pass your passport and i20

Vo: which course do you want to study?

Me: Computer information system

Vo: why this course?

Me: My passion for ICT started when I was in the university to the extent I had to apply as an apprentice to a cyber cafe in school where I learnt alot on ICT, I learnt computer networking, network servers, computer processes, Excel, Microsoft word and also Nigerian company's and organisations are moving their business processes from manual to automated and for me to be relevant and valuable in this field I need to acquire technical skills so that I can develop business modules and business softwares that will revolutionize Nigerian business world. I hope to work with organisations like Andela in order to encourage upcoming business softwares developers and a means to give back to the society.

Vo: how did you know about the school?

Me: I once participated in an online Android forum at XDA developers, my senior advisor saw was impressed with my zeal and my contributions and asked me my plans in the future and I told him I want to go for master's in computer information systems then he recommended California miramar University to me, I made research about the school curriculum and the school environments and I saw the school has a flexible curriculum with approach in both practical and theoretical aspect of the course I want to study, and I also found out on Wikipedia that California miramar University is one if the top 10 universities in business education field. California Miramar university is located in California, the state with silicon value (world technology hub) I hope to look for my self an expert in silicon value that will mentor me in business software development and information security systems.

VO: who is sponsoring you?

Me: my mum, she is a health care professional and owns an IT consultancy firm and logistics company with office in London and Lagos Nigeria.

Vo: have you traveled out of the country before?

Me: No

Vo: are you married?

Me: No

Vo: Do you have a kid?

Me: No

Vo: you are not qualified for this visa, this paper will explain why...he passed me the blue paper

Please what have I said wrong house?

You are still asking what you said wrong... huh? Change your school

Full funding for Masters?

Congratulations....

And what program are you going for?

Unique application though- 6 pages SOP, where I was told to submit one page. You tried!

Geoscience

Geoscience

Masters in Geoscience at GSU doesn't require GRE, reason your poor GRE score was overlooked.

Some schools require 500 word SOP, it must not be lengthy. Perhaps GSU are cheerful givers in terms of funding master's students

Who reads a 6-page SOP? I'm sure they didn't even read beyond the first page

I always tell applicants - don't make things hard for yourself

- A short and coherent SOP (1K words max unless your school gives you word count)
- 1-page resume (the average person spends 10 seconds on a resume)
- Clear LOR showing your skills AND EXAMPLES OF SITUATIONS WHERE YOU SHOWED THOSE SKILLS (highlight those skills while sending your LOR requests to your referees)

Shikenah! No long thing...

Please what of a situation where my graduate school ask me to write this for funding opportunities
How many pages can I write. Expecially when the word EXTENSIVE surface

Please write an EXTENSIVE personal statement addressing:

Why are your reasons for attending graduate school (e.g. why have you selected this path, what major goals do you see graduate school connected to/influencing in your life)?

Why do you feel you should be granted an assistantship?

As part of your experience as a GA, are there any specific skills or abilities that you would like to learn / develop (e.g. statistics, speaking skills)?

What deficits / weaknesses do you feel you currently have that may be related to your position as a GA?

What are your expectations of working as a GA / Research Associate (e.g. tasks you will be asked to complete, experiences you hope to be a part of)?

In terms of educational expertise, what areas of interest are you most interested in? What plans do you have to grow in this area?

This is pretty much explicit. The school is giving you express expo already. If you cannot write beautifully, employ someone who will. Long story short, tear this up!

Dont say what you dont know. Check their requirements and see for yourself. I sent my official GRE score to them cos it was part of my application checklist. Before my GRE got to them by ETS, my application was pending. A friend of mine encouraged me to apply after he had GRE 287 and still had Full funding in three good schools in the US. He is currently there right now. Cheers

It depends on your Intro and POI. Like me i did alot of projects while in school so I explained everything in details. I got a PhD admission in the UK and that was what the POI recommended via mail before i got the admission. She wanted to be sure i was equipped to carry out the research. So if your Intro is straight to the point and you write what they can relate with then no problem

That you sent it doesn't mean they require it. I have checked and didn't see it on their admission requirement. You can show me too with a screenshot.

Meanwhile i had three admission with my profile for Spring 2019 buh my POI advised that i defer the admission to fall 2019 to be considered for funding cos there was no funding for spring. That was why i fired 6 other applications. Louisiana, BGSU and Michigan

When u apply online, you will see it. Plus i called the departments to formally know their requirements. Thats all the first thing i do before applying.

Okay. I checked the geoscience website and it wasn't stated. Maybe it's a general requirement by graduate school.

Like I said, this is just a general graduate school requirement from international students. On departmental site it's not listed as requirement. Check well. Your GRE didn't play a role in their evaluation

Okay. The screenshot was from College of Art and Science requirements. On the department requirement you have this that in addition to the requirements byy the college of art and science.

Well i may agree with you, buh lets wait and see other applications. Cheers

Yeah, that means applicants must first meet the college of arts and science requirement. From what I have read so far from their site, the Department doesn't use it for admission purposes. That's a good one for those with low GRE score, they can look for department that doesn't lay emphasis on GRE score and apply there. Thanks for the update.

Also Ohio University and University of Texas at El Paso doesn't require GRE for Geoscience either MS or PhD

Good evening my beloved ones in the house.
Please help me out on this : if one wants to go and study Medicine in the US, what are those requirements one need for undergraduate study.
Thanks.
You can't study medicine in your undergraduate level in US......apply for biology first for bachelors degree.....then you'll have to study for another 4 years in medical school......followed by 2 to 4 years of residency

Admission into graduate program is a bit different. Apparently, you may have to talk to a fellow student who's been on the committee. What I understand is that the first few lines/paragraph is key but for those finally selected, their SOP is read and analyzed to see if they are the perfect fit for the program.
