Engineers in the house I need your help. I have a used Tecno M631, with specifications as thus: 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, 32GB internal storage which is as it is in the 'About phone' section of the phone but noticed when I connected it to my laptop it shows 5gb internal storage with about 3.5gb already used by the system(I have no memory card inside), and this makes the phone lag seriously. It hangs annoyingly and when connected to the Internet(data or wifi) it lags even more. What could be the problem and how can I get it resolved? Please help. |

Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by photon3106: 4:38pm On Feb 09, 2019 |
xavier2019:I guess you know the reason already. Well, le'me whisper: (what you have is a cloned tecno phone). Techmically, there is nothing you can do solve the problem but you can try the folllowing; *Try as much as possible to free space from the internal storage so as to avoid lags. If possible, install fewer apps. *If you're not scared of rooting, you should root the phone, install app like Link2sd to move apps completely to sdcard. Use kingroot to uninstall bloatwares like default apps that are useless (becareful though) *Finally, if i were you, I'd try a custom rom on it as this is the only way to make the phone display the exact storage. PS: if you are in doubt as to whether it isa clone or not, get cpu-z and install it. In cpu z, check the processor (chipset) and compare with the spec of that tecno phone online. You can screenshot the result of Cpuz here. I will help you verify |

Please does anyone have any idea how much it costs to fix iPhone X screen? I’ve heard different varying prices. |
Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by Isiboy(m): 7:29pm On Feb 09, 2019 |
Dexxter: price for fixing varies due to * engineer * location * screen price from dealer. so just make up ur mind and decide whom to give. |
Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by Dexxter: 7:48pm On Feb 09, 2019 |
Isiboy:From four different places I’ve gotten 150, 120, 90 and 80. It’s not about making up my mind cus obviously I’d go for the cheapest, my worry is that are there fake/sub par screen replacement I may not be aware about that is causing such contrasting figures? So if I can get at least a price range or someone who knows about X screens to tell me something then I can make an informed decision. |

Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by photon3106: 1:45pm On Feb 10, 2019 |
xavier2019:First, we need to know what SoC we are dealing with here and what model.. (E.g it could be spreadtrum or mediatek and the model number is needed) Secondly, we need to figure out the actual android os version it is running. (Take whatever you see in the 'About' section of your settings with a PINCH OF SALT. Those can be falsified by just a build.prop edit in the system folder) I can help you out where necessary but we must know point 1 and 2 as above. |
Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by photon3106: 1:59pm On Feb 10, 2019 |
xavier2019:Ah ha! From the info displayed in cpuz, it seems to me that's a qualcomm device. i can only help you only if it's a mediatek device runing atleast 4.2 and atmost 6.0. With those, i can build you a nice rom (bugless or almost bugless at that) |

Please I need to do a Sim unlock on a Nokia 7.1 device. Is there anybody here in Warri that can get it done? |
Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by photon3106: 11:13am On Feb 11, 2019 |
xavier2019:Sorry, the things you can do now is try and root it. Then, install kinguser inorder to remove unnecessary apps. DO NOT UNINSTALL 'CORE' APPS or 'SYSTEM' APPS. Kinguser will tell you which and which app is safe to uninstall. Next get link2sd or app2sd or any other relative app to move apps completely from internal storage to sdcard. Once these are done, the lagging problem should be almost gone if not completely gone. Plus you'd have more storage for installation of other apps. Do not forget you're dealing with a phone of 1GB ram and 8GB rom. Thats all it has got. |
