Good evening everyone,
Profile.
Gre : 320
TOEFL: 100
Experience: 2+
GPA: 2.2 (3.47)
Intended course of study : Industrial engineering
Two admits: Tamuk and wvu ( no funding)
Awaiting University of New haven.

I feel i am doing something wrong in relation to funding

This GRE score is HOT.
Your GPA should be around 3.0/4.0 when converted. How solid were ur recommendations and SOP?
Then your undergradaute course is....?
UNH would likely fund you with Assistantship but their funding does not cover your whole tuition. 75% I think.
You can also mail those schools you were admitted to, to enquire about other types of funding like Graduate assistant(different from Graduate teaching Assistantship and Graduate Research Assistantships).

Just apply and mail the international admission office and demand for a waiver.
That was exactly what I did and it was waived

I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it;

VO: Good afternoon.

Me: Good afternoon Ma.

VO: Pass me your passport.

I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while.

VO: Where is husband studying?

Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC.

VO: How long have you been married?

Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months.

VO: How many children do you have?

Me: We have one child.

VO: Has he visited since he left?

Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year.

VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest?

Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings.

She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said;

Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it?

VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling).

VO: Was he working before he left for the United States?

Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave.

VO: What will you be doing in the U.S?

Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband.

VO: Have you traveled before?

Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel.

VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States?

No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S.

VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you.

Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.)

She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry.

I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone.

This is the type of transcript I want, this your transcript has a lot of suspense oo.
to the extent that I was even praying for it to be granted my heart was beating self.

thank God you refired immediately, see how God gave u new year gift by this time. more wins.

hemme water the U.S ground I'm coming.

I think you can find Nigerians in Nashville. TSU and FISK university are HBUs and Nigerians go there a lot. You can’t compare the number with what you have in Houston though. I hope you’re enjoying TN cheesy

Northeastern University! My school. What course were you admitted into? Did you get any Graduate Assistant position? The money needed to collect I20 no be beans o. Anyway, to get I20 for my course, you'd have to pay a tuition deposit of 100 USD (36,000 naira), you need to send them account statement of 44,784 USD (over 16m) for tuition and living expenses and attach a currency conversion form which you would be able to download from a link that would be sent to you. After submitting financial documents, your I20 will take between 4 to 6 weeks to be processed and sent to you then you can pay your Sevis fee and apply for Visa.

Getting a visa depends on so many factors. No one can predict such.
