Lol. I know Abijo. After Sangotedo Shoprite. But that amount almost feels cheap.

He's talking of Eleko not Abijo.

Eleko is further down on the way to Epe.

No no. At Ajah. 320k total package.

4 years ago, total package for a room at Remlek there was 250k. So, it's still within the normal rate there.

you can't compare mainland to Island due to the caliber of people living there. island has more educated population with a more civilized way of living. you get to mingle to great minds. mainland on the other hand, my brother lets not just talk about mainland coz alot of them are on Nairaland and their bark is worse their bite. you can also trust them to hijack any thread grin

Eleko is a very far rural area just experiencing industrialisation.

You can't compare it to Abijo not to talk of Ajah before we now talk of Lekki Phase 1.
The op was taking about ibeju lekki. Moreover....have you heard about the companies other stuff Coming ibeju lekki. Also who else knows there is another Lekki...I didn't say ibeju I mean another settlement called LEKKI after DANGOTE REFINERY

Nothing to be majorly excited about if u ask me. If it’s about business then it depends on ur type of business and ur perspective. Both ends have their advantages. I know sm1 who relocated to lekki and didn’t do well cos of the type of business and stronger competition she faced.

So don’t get too excited cos both island and mainland have their pros and cons.

Only thing that excites me there is the fresh air and probably the life style and smwhat new development tho many are overrated, overhyped and even fake.

I've learnt something about the 'island' and its different parts.

We will be relocating to the area around the Free Trade Zone in a few months. Never been there.

I understand there are estates in Eti-Osa where treated water and electricity are centrally supplied. And that some of them do not experience flooding. Any tips will be appreciated.

Lol
You are telling me about Dangote refinery and Lekki Community?
Business has been taking me to that area before Fashola gave Dangote land in that area, so chill.

The companies coming there won't still make it measure up to Phase 1 for instance. It would just be like Apapa.

Eleko is still a rural area and Dangote refinery won't change that. Go and check Obajana and Ibeshe.

Note: I don't live in lekki, just what I see on tv and on the internet.

Lol. That was before the influx of yahoo boys, who are now undoubtedly the TOTAL owners of Lekki and environs. They are bringing their nonsense to Abuja but I'm happy they're being harassed big time, and would move out in droves back to their yeye Lagos.

Long time ago, Lekki and the Island used to be a rarified area where police and other security agencies behave themselves because "they don't know who you are" like you said. But since very stupid yahoo cockroaches started driving high end benzes and other bad ass whips all over the place - and living in expensive apartments all over Lekki - with their sagging jeans, dirty hairdo, and general nuisance value, everything has been demystified.

I'm street and I empathise with boys, but these dirty ones (and they're the majority), have ruined social life for everyone. You be like Baba Suwe wey never baff for 3 years, yet you dey drive 2016 Benz and dey live for Chevy View, yet you want police to respect you because "they don't know who you are". You resemble Minister pikin abi Mobil or Chevron executive? Lol.

You that live in Olokonla after Ajah, heading towards Epe, shebi you're also part of the snooty 'Island' crowd? How many parts of the Island (Apart from Banana, Old Ikoyi, Parkview, and some parts of VI) are better than GRA Ikeja, Shonibare Estate Ikeja and even Amuwo/Festac Extension or Magodo?

Even in terms of high streets, I don't know any street on Lekki 1 that is as 'high' as Isaac John in GRA Ikeja. It ranks right up there with any high street in the most upscale parts of anywhere in Lagos.

This Mainland/Island distinction is really needless. The big ballers, the fakers and the empty church rats in Lagos are like air. They are everywhere.

Nice post but let me add to it.

OP: Depends on where your office or business location is, it doesn't make sense working in Ikeja, Ogba or Egbeda and go live in Lekki 2, if you work in VI or Ikoyi, then it's ok to stay in Lekki 1 or 2 but you must consider its affordability since Yaba or Gbagada is equally near and affordable but since you plan to delve into more of offline business and target the Lekki/Ajah axis, then it's fine to stay within that vicinity, again costs matter, so work within a budget. Cheers.

So all those olosho are still men of calibre. Or those agberos living in lekki are more civilized or those yahoo boys are more educated. Rubbish Many houses on the island are built by people in the mainland. The Landlord prefer to stay in the mainland and the Tenants prefers to stay in the island. You see the sense. I'm an insider.

Fact!

A few uncles have places in Osborne, Chevron, Phase 1, Elegushi and VI. But they prefer to live in Ikeja GRA, Magodo, Adeniyi Jones, and Ogudu.

hmm... Are you sure there won't be much changes, even with the sea port being built and another shoprite to be erected along that axis?

Bros I tire o

apart from distance ( for those working on the island)
security
cleaner environment
and networking opportunities (for extroverts and those who need it for their business )

I see nothing special about lekki

The houses are overpriced
Lots of wannabes and fake people reside there
The water is bad
Some parts are a nightmare during the raining season

Someone who has planned out his or her future and earnings wouldn't even think of living in lekki or any highbrow area now . Except it is necessary for his work or business

This is why many people remain poor ,they want to leave above their means.
The only thing that will take me there is if I buy a house there.

I'm not paying any exorbitant rates to anyone to live in their apartment

That area named Lekki Phase 1 was actually known as Maroko years back. That time, it was occupied by Ilaje fishemen and Eguns living in shanties. In fact, the night they were forcibly evicted and shanties burnt, I passed there that very night.

They resettled some of the Maroko evictees at this Lekki Resettlement Scheme at Mobil Road adjacent Ajah. That's why that area is called Ilaje.

Island highland no escaping route,Ikoyi is the Boss,

Old Ikoyi is the real boss. Though some men live on the mainland who are even richer than some in old Ikoyi, but still.

Most of the Lekki crowd are nouveau riche poseurs rather than real made men.

If you're looking for the real Island where the oga nla dem dem are, turn your back on those boys and 'denge pose' salary earners and fake celebs in Lekki/Ajah and cross that sparkling bridge into Ikoyi... And head to Bourdillon, Queens Drive, Ikoyi Crescent, Alexander, McPherson, Osborne, etc.

Lekki is very dirty angry angry

From Fola osibo onto Hakeem Dickson, that murky water just at the entrance there to Durosinmi Etti, disgusting. Try and go on a walk or running round Lekki, you will hate what you see in the open shallow gutters. From debris to pyroclastic materials, plastic bottles, waste of all sorts etc.

Lekki is just over hyped. Lack of maintenance and proper cleaning. Open drainages with wicked mosquitoes breeding in, erratic power supply(everyone just turns on their gen) nobody cares. They roll up their car windows n drive off like they can't see their terrain needs better care and maintenance.

Omo the list is endless, stop this baseless comparism between island and mainland, Lekki is far from the ideal.
Vgc is even better off cos it's well maintained and managed.

If only Lekki will be better managed only then could you see it as the haven you now portray until then, let all these arguments stop.

This Lekki no be am.

And I mean Lekki Phase 1 gan gan angry
