You’re looking for funding for a non-thesis masters? Thats going to be very hard to get. Check Tennessee tech. NB-just go for a thesis based master’s if you’re looking for funding. Best LordSir1: |

Sometime just stroke my thought... Please sis, i want you to advise me as a friend and like a brother.. really want you to advise me on the application for May classes, which demands I must leave Nigeria by April... So I only have few days of February and Whole of march for admission and specially obtaining visa, coupled with the election situation in Nigeria, which definitely will take some days out... What do you guys think of the possibilities? |

dopeboi142:not me just trying to find people's opinions about it. Because most Indians I have met don't think twice in considering taking a loan ( betting on themselves) to go to a top school/ivy but I know Nigerians are kinda laid back when it comes to taking a loan that much on nothing more than future projections. 1 Like |

CuteRedd:now i understand, i think it has to do with our economy, i guess in other countries students and apply for study loans while they are allowed to pay back when they're gainfully employed, unlike here in Nigeria. our economic situation doesn't even permit it at all. 5 Likes |

Hello house, please do I need to liquidate my Stanbic mutual funds before using it as a POF OR I can just get a letter from the bank stating i have access to the funds anytime i need it... If it happens I have to liquidate, does that have to be 6 months before I apply for the visa? Thanks in advance. |

Barakallahu fihi [qauote author=Daringtohope post=75705211]I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it; VO: Good afternoon. Me: Good afternoon Ma. VO: Pass me your passport. I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while. VO: Where is husband studying? Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC. VO: How long have you been married? Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months. VO: How many children do you have? Me: We have one child. VO: Has he visited since he left? Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year. VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest? Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings. She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said; Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it? VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling). VO: Was he working before he left for the United States? Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave. VO: What will you be doing in the U.S? Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband. VO: Have you traveled before? Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel. VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States? No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S. VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you. Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.) She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry. I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone. [/quote] 3 Likes |

CuteRedd: Check the on-campus recruitment opportunities for YOUR PROGRAM (not your school). If your program attracts companies to recruit specifically from your class, then the loan might not be a bad idea. You won't have to worry about the job search. All you will have to do is resume, face your studies, prepare for interviews and when the companies visit your class, you apply, get interviews and get hired. But if your program does not attract employers, then a loan might not be a good idea. Another option is checking if your program or department has lots of alums in your desired companies. If they do, then that might also work but the stress might be slightly higher than when you have companies visiting. 1 Like |

Akinbowale5: If admitted, you are expected to deposit $9000. The above information is incomplete. According to the international graduate office,if you are admitted, you are expected to deposit $9,000 before or upon arrival "regardless of the scholarship awarded". |
