Hi! Everyone I want to start making plans for my visa application. I plan to apply in a few months for my fall 2019 admission. I am currently self employed and will be sponsored by my elder sister (unmarried) and cosponsored by my younger sis (unmarried) and Mother (civil servant) who both work here in nigeria. The program I am going for is geology totally unrelated to what my business does (Steel construction services - things are tough and man gotta bounce). I am planning ahead and I really want to know what you guys think.

The masters I am going for is related to my 1st degree (2012 graduate) and I have admission already in the US. But it is unrelated to my business which is steel construction services(it was lucrative back then).
I see questions like what have you been doing since graduation and I need to know how to make moves on that. I was working for a while but quit 2 years years ago and started my company in 2017.

Also what if I am asked why i am leaving my company to go for masters, is it not a red flag? So I am thinking of using a friends company to pay myself salary monthly. till my application in maybe june. So I can say I have been working in so so and so company etc

I would like to know if, even if i am saying i am being sponsored by my family will i need to present my own bank statement etc. would they ask for mine?

Me saying I was working in xyz company now will they ask for my own bank statement if I am being sponsored and also how much much be in the bank statements of my sponsors all together in naira pleaseeee? etc etc.. I have travel history to uk and sa.

Need your input guys please I am planning way ahead. Thank you

Need a response please guys

Since your masters is related to your 1st degree, you don't have anything to worry. Just give a good reason why you are going for the masters if asked by the V.O. Don't give yourself so much headache and stress over this. If you feel using your friend's company will boost your confidence, its also a good option. Any of the option is good.

As for sponsorship, you can go alone with yours if you have a good sum of money in it. Your sponsors SOA is what they need mostly.

Mastercard and visa card works mostly. You can try the verve card and tell us your experience.

I doubt if a verve card would work with it. Verve is really limited and when I say limited, it's limited. I'm st to use a visa card or a master card.

I strongly believe you would obtain first hand information on VISA processes from EducationUSA since it operates under the auspices of the US Embassy.

Hello guys.

I just got admission into North Carolina State University for a masters program. I didn't write GRE as I used the MSc. degree I had before as part of my supporting documents. On the admission letter, it was like a conditional admission as it was clearly stated that I have to pass a certain course within my first 2 semesters. Although, the supervisor I secured already promised me funding but its like it will be difficult with a conditional admission. My questions are these:

1. I have been sent the the sponsors form for the I-20 form stating clearly that I should attach an account containing about $30,100. I am not going to fund myself but i can run around to secure one but may not be that of any of my relative with same name, will I not run into trouble securing visa as a result of a conditional admission?

2. I am above 35yrs still going for an MSc. won't there be a great challenge defending that during visa interview.

3. Is it advisable to continue with it because I don't want to put much effort and get disappointed after.

Please guys, advise me.

Ok, let's assume you run around, get people's statement of account to use to get i20, then you use the same statement of account to get visa, then you run around for flight money and come to yankee.

How do you intend to pay tuition of $9k per semester. Bro, don't be deceived, you can't hustle $18k to pay a session school fees doing menial jobs o plus I heard North Carolina is a dead state. Remember you will still take care of your accommodation, bills and et cetera. Do your calculations well o except you no really wan go school

You might not have trouble getting visa with conditional admission as most times the VO don't even look at admission letters. All they really care about is your i20. My admission letter wasn't requested in both my interviews.

You already have a masters degree and going for another masters, this might be a challenge o, but it's surmountable if you prepare well and grace dey your side.

You are above 35years, with a masters degree, why not shoot for a PhD.

This one you have to pass a certain course (s) and conditional admission, this smells like you will have to take prerequisites courses and with my experience taking prerequisites courses, that funding that you've been promised with mere words might not be coming anytime soon.

All in all, please do not come here with your masters degree and drop out of status or drop into community college. I just feel you can do better for yourself.

In my opinion, If you really want to go to school, look for funding from Nigeria or shoot for a PhD. Except you have ulterior motive.

I hope this helps you

Hello please I’ve been rejected from UMD because my undergraduate degree was 3years but I graduated with a 2:1 CGPA 3.8/5. Please I’d like to know which other school I can check out for masters without having to write any standardized test.

Time for fall 2019 interview hasn't reached as many will be going for fall own. Nevertheless, the rate of refusal you are seeing shouldn't frighten you, it has always been so.

I know of Colorado State University, there are others that do the same.

Just make sure when you're applying (usually via commonapp) you indicate that you're applying as "test optional"

I'd get back to you if I can get my hands on more universities.

Downside is that you won't get scholarships. Even if you do, you might not get more than $5k out of a $40k cost of attendance.

So why don't you take SAT that's less than $150 to save yourself from paying over $35k yearly.

Hi everyone,
Supposing I send emails to a couple graduate school faculty members whose research area seem to align with mine to request for an opportunity to be a member of their research team. Now, I wasn’t lucky enough to get anyone of them to provide any form of assistantship. What is the right thing to do. Should I send emails to other faculty members whose researches aren’t related to my area of interest or should I just look for a different school .
I know this is a no-brainer but I just don’t want to assume the obvious in this case.

Good morning house, does anyone know how effective and useful EducationUSA is when it comes to Visa processes?

dont even go there, they will discourage you.
I went there after my second visa denial and the woman used me as example to other students. walspring can relate grin grin.

In education USA at the embassy they say you cant study in the US if you are using GCE result,
you cant study in the US if you have been denied US visa before
you cant study in the US if you have been out of school for more than 6 months or there about
you cant study in the US if you dont have a direct sponsor
and of course you cant study in the US if you are using OLUWOLE BANK STATEMENT grin grin

EducationUSA said i was not qualified to study in the US but to God be all the glory i am in the US now with a GCE Result, 3 Previous Visa denials, been out of school for more than 3 years and my uncle that we dont bear same last name is my sponsor.. (i wish i had their number i would have called them to tell them to stop discouraging Nigerian students)

you can go to them for extra knowledge but DONT LET WHAT THEY SAY DISCOURAGE YOU,. GOOD LUCK
