I started hearing about starvation in ethiopia in the late 90s/2000s when American celebrities started going there. Before then everything I saw on local TV about the country was positive. I however knew there was was civil war in Somalia as early as the early 90s. So I saw a lot of pics of starving women and children on TV that was caused by the war.
