Now engine type,are we looking at the 1.8l turbo charged m271 or 1.8l supercharged m271?
I strongly believe it is the former if you got the year correct.if I'm right,it is going to be a little hard to find and expensive.
But if it's the latter,you are in luck!it can go for quite cheap and it's readily available.

Maybe its nothing, steam can cause condensation if the engine is cool or vehicle parked for long.
You should start to worry if u notice that your car is low on coolant or you still see the white smoke when the car is warmed up.
Flooring the pedal once in a while is good for your engine.
